Very comfortable accommodation, after all it is where we live when we are on Tobago! The view across the bay is the reason we built here !
We are surround by a good variety of local birds such as MotMots, Ant Shrikes & 5 varieties of hummingbirds. The vegetation is quite lush and we have mango, banana, paw paw and fresh herbs etc growing in the garden.
Carpe Diem Villa was completed in late 2007. Half timbered construction over a block ground floor. It is our house and was designed for US to live in and constructed of local materials using all local labour. The whole point of the house was to take advantage of the view of Castara Bay. It is set back and 80 feet above the Northside Road in the village of Castara, a small unspoilt fishing village on the Caribbean coast of Tobago.
The 2 Sandy beaches are safe and kept clean by the villagers. Lifeguards are on duty during the day. Come & Swim or snorkel with the Stingrays or Pull the Seine!
Walk to the local Waterfall to cool off in the heat of the day
We invest in the community & can help you organise personalised tours into the rainforest, visit waterfalls, take you fishing & then to a BBQ the catch on a secluded beach. Or tours to Nylon Pool & Buccoo reef, Sunday school, visit Little Tobago & Goat Island, Bio Luminance tours, Being with Horses, Chocolate making & so much more
The local bars are friendly with locals, expats and visitors all 'liming' together.

The Stone family had an excellent family Holliday at Carpe Diem taking both studios and upstairs 2 bedroomed flat it proved the perfect base. CD is close to all the amenities of the village and it was a joy to watch the birds feed in the morning and watch the sun go down over the sea from the verandah. The kitchen at CD is very well equipped for catering for a large group and the beds comfortable... Panday, the gardener, was full of great advice and even brought us bananas from his garden. We enjoyed his company immensely. Be aware CD is on the side of the hillside with a path and steps up to it and the village together with its chickens and dogs and wildlife are rarely quiet but then you’re in the tropics! Only been home a week and missing Carpe Diem and Castara already....
It was such a pleasure to stay with Christopher and Yvonne, not only because their accommodations are so comfortable and beautiful but because they are so warm and inviting. It was clearly a highlight of my trip to Tobago
We stayed in this house for the fourth time as we absolutely adore it and the village of Castara. The house is everything you want to escape from the chaos of everyday life, the locals are friendly and welcoming and we highly recommend an escape to Carpe Diem, Castara
