Located on Brighton's sea front, Bedford House Apartment provides the ideal base from which to explore the city's many attractions. Brighton Pier and the Royal Pavillion is a short 10 minute walk, city centre 15 minutes and train station 20 minutes.

Bedford House Apartment is a basement apartment accommodating the lower ground floor of Bedford House; a Grade 2 listed Regency house built around 1810. The house has an interesting and varied history having potentially been first built(as a detached house) for the Duke of Bedford. From the mid to late 1800s the house was a guest house for visiting gentry coming to Brighton to take the sea air. 100 years later the house became the home of the impressionist artist Cecil D'Oyly John and subsequently the playwright Sir Terence Rattigan. Famous actors such as Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh have been frequent guests to the house.

The apartment has recently undergone extensive modernisation and refurbishment and now offers an Art Deco styled cinema room with a 75 TV, surround sound as well as a bar and dining area. The bar area offers all the facilities to enjoy a relaxing drink including a wine fridge, cocktail set and a wide range of glasses. With a double width LED lit staircase and electric curtains covering the TV this room provides a bit of theatre not to mention an ideal space for small groups of friends or family to gather to have fun celebrating a special occasion or reunion. Your own music can be played through the surround sound speakers using a bluetooth connection from your smartphone or tablet.

There are 3 Art Deco styled bedrooms. The main bedroom boasts a super king size bed with original 1920s dressing table. The two other bedrooms have 2 singles in each room, all with double sized quilts. The Sueno beds and tempur cloud support hypoallergenic pillows ensure a good night's sleep.

Two bathrooms with walk in showers and underfloor heating can be found at opposite ends of the apartment: one close to the bedrooms and the other next to the cinema room.

The kitchen has a 1950s look with aluminium English Rose units, formica work tops and Smeg retro appliances which include: an induction hob; oven; grill; fridge; freezer; dishwasher; kettle; toaster and microwave.

A Meile washing machine and tumble dryer, along with iron and ironing board can be found in one of the bedrooms.

The apartment has fibre optic wifi but please note that mobile phone signal strength may be weak unless close to a window.

A private entrance with keyless self check in/out means you do not need to have any interaction with other people outside your party if you are concerned about social distancing. Professional cleaners are used between bookings to do Covid 19 cleans.

Please note that 10 steps need to be descended to get to the front door and there are a further 12 steps down into the cinema room. The apartment may not therefore be suitable for very young children or those with mobility issues. Metered parking is available nearby and the apartment can be easily reached by bus and taxi from the train station. As the apartment is on the lower ground there are no direct sea views and no outdoor space.

For guests visiting on business both the Amex European HQ building and Brighton & Sussex County Hospital are located a short 10 minute walk. Both universities can be easily reached by bus and taxi.

The apartment is absolutely gorgeous. The photos are exactly as you will find it. The host was informative and incredibly helpful. The location is perfect, right on the seafront and only a short stroll to the main pier and the buzz of the lanes.

Luke's property was absolutely amazing. The apartment lived up to expectations and was a fantastic base to explore Brighton. The art deco theme and its history made it a weekend to remember. Would definitely recommend a stay here with the close proximity to the seafront.

Stayed with 5 friends for a wonderful weekend in Brighton. The Art Deco bar and cinema area are fantastic for socialising and making an event really special! The bedrooms and decor are exceptional and the hosts were attentive and friendly. The information provided was so helpful and they left a few treats for check in as well. Would recommend 100%.

Top class apartment and the attention to detail was unbeatable. Luke was on hand to answer any questions we had and check in was seamless. Comfortable beds and lovely bed linen. Top class art deco furniture in every room. Beautiful bathrooms and of course the piece de resistance was the amazing cinema room and cocktail bar. After 18 months of not seeing each other due to covid, it was wonderful to be able to relax , chat and share so much laughter in these beautiful surroundings. The apartment was stocked with everything you need from glassware to crockery. The location was perfect on the seafront and close to shops, restaurants and bars. One of the best apartments I have ever stayed in and will most definitely be returning. 5*****

A very special and unique venue for a weekend away, beautiful interior and features. We very much enjoyed all the entertainment areas, a well equipped kitchen, a stunning bar to sit and chat over a perfectly chilled wine. Then a wow factor tv screen. Great to be right on Brighton’s front just had to readjust to a basement venue ,reduced daylight during the day. Seating is ideal for movies not so much for communal lounging. But being where it’s located, it’s so easy to find a coffee shop. 100% recommend and hope to be back in the future.
