Wilmington, North Carolina
This one of a kind property is truly the way to experience historic Wilmington. Note: this is a second story unit without an elevator; the unit is not handicapped accessible; you must be able to climb stairs to access the unit.
In April 1915, Engine Company 2 began operation at 5th and Castle Streets. Their new station housed six men, two horses, and a two-horse hose wagon. Designed by local architect James F. Gause, Jr., the Italianate structure also housed a bell relocated from the corner of 4th and Dock Streets. The bell sounded alarms until the last fire horse was retired in 1918. In 1956, Engine 2 relocated to the new Headquarters Station on Dock Street. Downstairs is our beautiful Station No. 2 venue. No events are held while you are staying upstairs in the Firehouse Suite.
Once the bunk house to the firemen, this spacious second floor apartment with open floor plan, has recently undergone an outstanding renovation. The gracious apartment is 1709 square feet of light & luxury. Decorated by an acclaimed designer, with understated historic detail throughout, this unique and very large space combines comfort and privacy with a refreshingly hip style.
The unit offers 14 foot ceilings, hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, concrete counter-tops, stainless steel appliances along with elegant furnishings and finishes. Original art work hangs in every room, including most pieces by renown local artists.
This is a pet-friendly building. (Those with severe allergies should consider a different rental.) We ask that pets are kept off of the furnishings. There is a pet fee.
The living room offers quality and luxury including a large flat screen television with DVD, relaxing seating for your group and a dining area large enough to seat 10 comfortably. Reading nook in the tower and an office set up for those who still have to get work done.
The Firehouse is ideally located at the gateway to the Castle Street Art & Antique District. Enjoy the Saturday Peddlers Market while perusing unique antique shops, vintage clothiers, retro furnishings, wine shops, art galleries and restaurants.

It was a great visit! It was nice staying in a historic place. We were within walking distance of downtown.
Love your place!!!
We had a nice relaxing stay! Rental had everything we needed and close to everything!
The firehouse was decorated with all things I would have picked (or would like to pick!) - such a beautiful place to stay. Quiet neighborhood but close to the Southside and beach…Thank you!
Staying at the fire house in Wilmington was a nice surprise! It is a very unique place to stay and one that my wife and kids will remember for a long time. We had a great time and were surprised how nice the fire house was renovated. The owners went to every detail to make sure that your stay is comfortable. The kids enjoyed the games and old-school boombox. We loved the proximity to the Riverwalk and even got to see fireworks on July 4 down by the river that night. Admittedly I was a little concerned about staying in a building that old, but it was truly an enjoyable experience. I thought that the heating and cooling may not suffice, but it held up on the hottest of days during our three day stay. We would definitely rent this location again. This is a great way to see Wilmington if you want a unique and memorable experience.
The property was truly unique, we enjoyed the historical aspect of the old fire station. We were close to the beaches and downtown. The property is spacious and filled with sunlight from the beautiful original windows in the main living areas. We had a great time!
We loved our stay at the firehouse. We needed a quick stay to just relax a bit. The city sounds were a bit loud, but that is to be expected. The place was very clean and well organized. The host was really good about suggesting restaurants and quickly responding to messages. A great stay, we would love to cone back!
Wonderful visit to the old Historic Fire House. Lots of room and beautifully decorated. Great location with several neighborhood restaurants within walking distance. Enjoyed the waterfront. We took a boat cruise and toured the World War II Battleship.
Loved the Firehouse. Would stay again!
