Lovely casita on unique, secure, private, beautiful grounds in the mountains north of San Jose. Eduardo and Betty made our first visit to Costa Rica amazingly special! They have become wonderful friends and I’m certain that we’ll stay in touch.

This is a lush, green paradise with an abundance of trees, fruits, flowers..it is calm and peaceful. The absolute best part of our stay were the warm, generous and accommodating hosts, Eduardo and Betty. They gave us the most wonderful Pura Vida experience and quickly became friends for life. There are not enough positive adjectives to describe the hosts and the manner in which guests are treated. We will definitely return to visit our new friends!

Near to the city of San Jose this was our first stop after arriving at the airport and where we spent our first night of our trip. Eduardo was amazing. Considering we were a day late because we missed our flight, he was able to rollover our booking for the next day and did not charge us anything further. He sent us a Waze and Google GPS point which made it easy to find his property. Betty and Eduardo have a beautiful flower and coffee plantation. Our night there was heavenly. We arrived in time for the amazing sunset and were delighted by the beauty of the gardens and the structure of the cottage. It was gorgeous and artistic. You could hear the river from our room. The wall had a painted mural. A bathroom and shower downstairs with a kitchen/livingroom/dining room setup. There was frozen fruit in the fridge to make smoothies and Eduardo's wife Betty sent us a delicious juice of Cas (the national fruit of Costa Rica). The taste was amazing. Eduardo also provided us with a container of juicy red papaya and pineapple. So rawlicious delicious. We slept so well that first night upstairs in a cozy bedroom with a bathroom and shower and a large balcony facing the river. The next day we explored. What a delightful garden. We met Panchito Honey and Satchi 3 rabbits that roam the garden. We ate mandarinos (green on the outside and orange on the inside and sweet) from the fruit trees as well as sweet lemon (very mild tasting like lemongrass) and got a tour of the coffee operation as well as an opportunity to pick the coffee fruit. Huge hydrangeas, birds of paradise and coffee plants surround the property. Our outdoor garden had 4 swings, a pingpong table, rockers and a small table outside to enjoy our fruit. Eduardo opened the gate to the river and we walked down for a swim. Eduardo and Betty are amazing hosts. We met Bonnie and GodBless this dog's name that we have forgotten who loved the remnants of our fruits. We were just there for one night and we felt like royalty. Thank you Eduardo and Betty. We look forward to returning

at once modern and whimsical this guest house is comfortable and charming, with mountain views on one side and a garden full of lavender, hydrangeas, and bird of paradise flowers on the other. The warm and welcoming hosts Eduardo and Betty make you feel at home with papaya smoothies good cheer and kindness. The property has been in the family for generations as a coffee farm (we met Eduardo’s 90 year old father, who comes everyday to help care for all the plants). We enjoyed a day exploring nearby Barva, whose old central square and surrounding streets are full of strange and wonderful masks (a local tradition); wish we had another day to hike up nearby old Barva volcano. Saw two rainbows in the garden??

Our host was the most welcoming and generous person. The house was tucked into the middle of a perfectly manicured garden filled with sculptors. The room was delightful and surrounded in glass to accentuate the views. We were treated to a traditional meal with homemade ice cream. Truly magical.

Host was so great. We arrived in the evening and Eduardo was at the gate to welcome us to the home. He had a couple of plates of fresh fruit, water (some of the best I've ever tasted) and juice waiting for us in the room. I mentioned to Eduardo that we wanted to get an early start and take a hike up the mountain in the morning. He offered to go with us and show us the way - a welcome invitation. After a comfortable night sleep, we hiked up behind the house through field and forest. There were plenty of wild fresh berries along the way and Eduardo brought along some other fruit to share. There were some terrific vistas of the city and some neat views of the springs in the forested area. The sleeping room is on the second floor of the building with a large walkout balcony. Sleeping arrangements, bathroom, and shower are all in one large room, with partitions. A kitchen area is available downstairs (we didn't use it), with some games and a pleasant yard for relaxing. The bed was very comfortable. The house was clean and well cared for. Cool breezes at night made for a good night's sleep. This was the first of our overnight stays in Costa Rica. It was a terrific start to the whole pura vida experience. I highly recommend this home and host.
