Relax on the sunny deck, walk along West Cliff Drive and fall asleep at night to the sound of crashing waves. Cowells Surfside is a clean, one- bedroom apartment located two houses from West Cliff, behind a main house and above the detached garage. Surrounded by plants and a garden it has beautiful views of the Monterey Bay, Boardwalk, Santa Cruz Wharf and Santa Cruz Mountains. The apartment has bamboo floors, granite counters and large sunny windows. The living room has a pullout sleeper sofa making space for children or additional guests. There are plenty of linens and towels along with a stocked kitchen. Included with your stay are two beach cruisers, boogie boards and beach chairs. The deck has a working gas grill for outdoor cooking. It’s a perfect get away for a couple of small family.
The apartment gives you walking access to many beaches, great surf spots, the Boardwalk and SC Wharf, wine tasting and shopping. Athletes have been renting here for years to have easy access to triathlons, surf contests and other races. Families love it for the proximity to the Boardwalk and downtown. Travelers return every summer and fall to enjoy the fun and beauty of our town.

We have nothing but wonderful things to stay about our stay here! The location was excellent- view of the ocean, very walkable, private. The property was clean and exactly as described. Kerry had great communication with clear check in/check out instructions and tips for things to do in the area. We absolutely would stay here again and recommend to anyone traveling to the area!

Perfect home base for walking along West Cliff Drive or to the wharf. Very clean, very comfortable, well appointed unit over the garage, so you have privacy and a view of the ocean. You can hear the ocean and the sea lions with a window open. Great host!

I have been staying at this wonderful place for, I think, 10 years or more… I grew up in Santa Cruz and moved to the East Coast…Kerry and her family are wonderful hosts and this place is awesome
Kerry, our host, was very friendly, helpful and responsive! The property was outstanding! It was clean, well furnished, beautifully decorated and in a great location. The bed is super comfy too! We loved having a washer and dryer on-site. We would love to come back and visit sometime soon. Can highly recommend!

This is a great unit above the garage and two houses from the ocean cliffs. The unit is clean and well maintained. Easy to walk everywhere in town. You do have to park on the street and during the summer it can fill up quickly. But still I not had to park 1 block away. Excellent place to stay.

This is our second stay in this lovely apartment and I cannot find enough positive words to describe my joy of our stay. Very clean, very comfortable set up: kitchen, bathroom and bedroom are comfortable and easy to get set up for my stay. Very close to west cliff ( in a good way!). You can open the bedroom sliding door and feel the lovely sea air and listen to the seals bark. Very quiet even though it is 1/2 block of west-cliff. Easy walk to beach or to the pier. The owner is very easy to get a hold off and easy to communicate with. Needless to say we have already booked our next trip ( 2 months from now)

My adult disabled son and I wanted a place near Cowell Beach so we could attend Day on the Beach. This was a perfect location for us to walk to the beach and to the Boardwalk.

I cannot find enough positive adjectives to use when describing our stay. Lovely and sweet apartment, private. Great location, about 1/2 block off west cliff drive. You can hear the bark of the sea lions as you relax in your apartment. It is about a 10 min walk to the wharf ( where those sea lions are hanging out) passing all kinds of surfers enjoy the wave. Location great for walkers, close to shops ( not to close) I felt at home as soon as I walked in the door. The owners were very nice!

Our stay over the New Year's Eve weekend was actually a quiet getaway to celebrate a birthday. The rain did not dampen our enjoyment or comfort. Fortunately, we were just ahead of the massive rains, flooding and damage to the county and to Capitola Village in particular. We drove to Monterey (to the wonderful Aquarium) one day, but basically just relaxed! Went to Zachary's for a wonderful breakfast, and took a few walks through the neighborhood and along the coast. The property met our needs perfectly - clean, comfortable and great location.
