Enjoy incredible hiking, crystal-clear swimming holes and world-class mountain biking trails during summer and pristine snow-play areas away from the crowds during winter. Take in gorgeous scenic drives and numerous points of historical interest--including malokoff diggins--from California gold rush period. Discover the active gold mining town of Allegheny, the scenic beauty of downieville or soak the afternoon away at sierra hot springs in sierra ville. The village of Nevada city--with all it has to offer--is just 20 minutes away.
Or simply relax...
As much a nature blind as a dwelling, the yurt is located on 5 peaceful acres of mixed oak and madrone woodland with a filtered view of the sierra foothills, a claw foot bath tub under the stars and much more. Light and airy with both propane and wood heat, the well-designed interior features a spacious kitchen, a comfy queen bed and a full bathroom. The kitchen is stocked for a cook with quality cooking equipment and is supplied with oils, sauces and spices. Tranquil, without phones or TV--but with WiFi—there are games and plenty of good books. A perfect anytime retreat!
My wife and I stayed for our anniversary. We have 3 kids and needed a little alone time and time to relax. This was a very quiet and cool place. It was better then we expected. It’s so peaceful. The host was very responsive. We will definitely be returning.
Very cozy yurt! We had the nicest time celebrating our anniversary here in the country. The yurt had basically everything we could need and made it super easy. Kathy has really spent l lots of time putting together some very informative binders with local information and places to go. Don't miss the fried chicken at the gas station in San Juan
We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at this unusual venue. The owners have provided everything we needed to be comfortable, including a fully equipped kitchen and an electric grill outside. The yurt itself, its cabinets and some of the equipment are a little shabby, but, given the overall cleanliness and the fair rental fee, this is easy to overlook. The property just feels really good!
Absolutely in love with the yurt, clean, simple, secluded. I spent three days in the outdoor tub enjoying the nature. Thank you for the use of your home!
Fantastic Relaxing and peaceful.
My partner and I booked this place for a long weekend getaway, and it was perfect -- bigger than we'd expected and nearly all the comforts of home (and then some; the outdoor clawfoot tub is amazing!). It'd be a great place to hunker down for a peaceful stay in the woods, but Nevada City and Grass Valley also have excellent bars and restaurants a short drive away. Kathy and Jim were terrific about communicating the quirks of yurt living and expectations of guests. Looking forward to our next stay!
We had a very relaxing stay in the yurt. We brought all our food and were so surprised at the extensive kitchen. We lacked for nothing. The owners really care about their rental, and have done a wonderful ensuring comfort and safety during Covid.
Location! The spot is incredibly quiet with not a sound around. It’s close to a few really nice spots on Yuba river. The instructions how to get there and overall orientation to the area were detailed and super helpful. Hope to come again.
First Yurt we ever stayed in, it felt huge, at least 30' in diameter, and had everything we needed. Perfect blend of glamping, tree houses, with all the comforts ! Awesome Experience, so relaxing.
The Yurt was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed for an almost camping experience. The kitchen was fully stocked, we brought all our groceries with us, but Mother Trucker’s co-op was just a short drive away if needed. Location was very remote and quiet, and the deck was nice to relax on at night (bring your bug spray!). Our 10 year old loved it! There’s a friendly frog that lives in the shower/bathroom, which surprised me. Also, be prepared to pack out whatever garbage you create while there, as you’re responsible for taking it with you when you go. The directions were very straightforward and the driveway is well marked with signs. We had a lovely but very hot mid-July stay.
