Stayed Dec 29, 2025The property host, Sissy, responded in a timely manner to our concerns and the owner of the property was very professional and helpful. While our stay did not go as planned, I am pleased with the resolution of our issue.

Stayed Dec 27, 2024First, communication was terrible. I finally contacted VRBO because I wasn't getting responses to my questions. They gave me three phone numbers: not a return call or text from any, until several days later. A large first floor space that feels like its underground, due to very low ceilings. Dim to no exterior lighting, muddy and leaf covered access including the front porch, no place to wipe feet inside nor outside the entry door, something that looked like vomit dried in the kitchen sink, tiny and thin towels, big heater in dining area put out very little heat. The thinly whitewashed interior felt more like a recently converted old basement laundry area. Nothing cozy, few places to plug in electronics. We didn't stay for even one night. However, the owner did agree to a full refund, so thanks for that.

Stayed Nov 25, 2024Needs outside lighting and bigger towels and in form the height of the sealing and the neighbors up stairs wearing heals on hardwood floors can be very loud as well as the noise pollution outside and the hookers that walk the street!!! Everything else was nice. The outside lights need to be addressed before some really hurst themselves, i feel twice because there was no lights and mud everywhere, that i could not see!

Stayed Jul 1, 2024Challenge 1 was communication. Not sure who “Sisley” is. We used a number we were given via email to reach a Mr. Liu on a poor connection that made it hard to hear or understand him. He didn’t seem to have direct knowledge of what was happening at the property but instead referred to his property person. The property was in much rougher condition than the photos indicated. We weren’t given the key to the door-side gate. Using the sliding gate with the keypad meant going around the house or through the dirt yard with broken glass. Inside the walls, baseboards, and windows were extremely rough. We never opened the blinds because the windows were not pleasant to look at or through. A/C was via a standing unit in the dining area, requiring bedroom doors to stay open for cooling. Rm 1, behind the kitchen, had a door that couldn’t open all the way due to another old doorframe but also could not be closed all the way or latched. This was frustrating and disturbing. When I expressed our concerns on night 1 we were offered a cancellation if we left by the next morning, but we were unable to do that and chose to stay. The kitchen was nicely equipped but just 4 chairs. Bath towels were tiny so we bought our own. The property is a 12+ minute walk from the MacArthur BART station. We recommend walking MacArthur to Telegraph to 39th St to the station for a more pleasant walk. The #6 bus from MacArthur & Telegraph was closer and handy for getting to Berkeley or downtown Oakland.
