Historic, charming 2 Bed 1 Bath apartment that is part of a double shotgun house located two blocks from beautiful City Park in Mid-City, the heart of New Orleans.

My house is five blocks (7 min walk) from the Canal St. streetcar, which will lead you straight to the French Quarter or allow you to connect to the St. Charles line to visit the the beautiful Garden District of Uptown New Orleans.

Built in the 1920s, this 2 bedroom apartment has one queen sized bed, one full sized bed, and one sleeper sofa, accommodating 4-6 people with ease and comfort. The floor plan (approx. 950 sq. ft.) is a typical style “shotgun” with the original pine hardwood floors, 12’ ceilings, antique doors and mantels. The apartment has many recent renovations and updates with local style and creative décor while keeping the original architectural elements to help you feel like you are living like a local while enjoying your visit!

The front porch private entry doorway opens into the front den and living room including a movie theater style sofa for two, two chairs, two antique libraries, antique fireplace (nonfunctioning), and 40 flat screen smart TV with full cable and WiFi access to ensure you are comfortable while relaxing from your New Orleans adventures. The two precious libraries act as the dividing wall between the den and living room, where you will find a dining table for 4. Down the short hallway you will find a full bath with a shower/bathtub to your right, and a little further down another private entrance/exit via a side door to the house. This hallway then leads to the first private queen bedroom equipped with a large closet, spacious dresser, and 40 inch Smart TV. The next room is a fully equipped, newly renovated kitchen with granite countertops and brand new stainless steel appliances. The last room in the house is the second private bedroom equipped with an open wardrobe and 40 flat screen TV with Google chrome cast. This bedroom has a back door that leads directly outside to the back patio, which includes access to the washer and dryer located in a covered area of the back shed. Note that whoever you have to walk through the queen bedroom to get to the bathroom if you are staying in the full bedroom in the back. Other options are to go out the back door and enter the house through the side door or front door to aces the bathroom with out walking through the queen bedroom.

The house is located at the crossroads of two wonderful neighborhoods referred to as Mid-City and City Park. Mid-City, which is known as the heart of New Orleans is a place where locals live as a neighborhood rather than just an area of New Orleans. It is a place filled with a community spirit that resonates with its residents old and new. Mid-City has become the new, revitalized and young neighborhood of New Orleans and is attracting young professionals from all over the country who have recently relocated to New Orleans working in the medical fields. With the nearby addition of shopping centers and restaurants, Whole Foods, expansion of City Park attractions and the construction of the new medical facilities on Tulane Avenue and the Veterans Affairs Hospital to be completed in 2016, Mid-City is the place to be!

Just a couple of blocks away is City Park, one of the nation’s oldest urban parks with 1,300-acres of beautiful grounds, serene water gardens, ancient live oak trees and magical offerings. The park features the New Orleans Museum of Art, putt-putt golf course, regular 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, play grounds, Botanical Gardens, Besthoff Sculpture Garden, Train Garden, City Splash, Pan American Stadium and various music and theatrical productions throughout the year. The park also offers a host of family-friendly activities, including children’s larger-than-life storybook sculptures in “Storyland” and the one-of-a-kind antique wooden carousel in the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park – a hand-carved marvel of “flying horses” that has been a family favorite for nearly 100 years.

Enjoy a beautiful day on the water at “Big Lake” in City Park with paddle boat rentals, gondola rides, fishing, wildlife viewing, kayaking, and canoeing. Walking/jogging trails, biking paths, horse back riding, yoga, bike and surrey rentals, basketball courts, soccer fields, roller blading, and more are just some of the many outdoor activities available in City Park. Spend a lazy afternoon with the ducks, swans and geese on the park’s historic bayous and lagoons, while sipping on a café au lait at Morning Call. City Park is home to the world’s largest stand of mature live ancient oaks, modern art and everything in between .

If you want to party like a local during Mardi Gras, we are in the midst of the Endymion parade route with the comfort of not being directly on it. Just 2 blocks away is the staging of the massive optical floats and where the famous Mardi Gras Endymion parade begins at the City Park Avenue and Orleans intersection on the Saturday before Fat Tuesday. Locals start planting their marks and setting up camp days in advance in preparation for the Mid-City party of the year. You can enjoy the craziness but not be stuck in it as we are tucked away in a convenient section of our block. You can even host your own party living like a local!

We assure that you will feel like you are “living like a local” in our home while you visit New Orleans!

Our family spent the weekend and chose this property for the neighborhood/proximity to City Park (with the sculpture garden and a couple of play areas that allowed for social distancing). We were very happy with our choice. The immediate area was really interesting just for looking around at all of the different architecture and local style. We walked to and from the park easily with a toddler. The place itself (side-by-side duplex) was comfortable, clean, and had plenty of room for a couple with two kids during a rainy afternoon spent playing indoors.

This was the perfect place to stay for our first NOLA family holiday! The house was in the perfect location for us to travel by foot, trolley, and/or car to experience all there was to see. The City Park, cemeteries, restaurants, brewery, and stores were all a short walk/ride away. The house was well maintained and had everything we needed to make our Christmas a merry one. We had a tiny problem with the heat the first day but the owner and his brother had it taken care of immediately. We would definitely stay here again the next time we are in town!!

We enjoyed our stay and close location to New Orleans' City Park. House is well equipped and cozy. Manoli was easy to reach and helpful.

The house was in the perfect location. Short blocks from Canal Street street car and ten minutes from downtown. Walking distance to main street in neighborhood for supermarket, etc. Quiet neighborhood with City Park and Second Line Brewing right around the corner. Owner was timely in responding and let us drop off luggage before check-in, which was fantastic as we arrived early to take full advantage of the day. As a shotgun house, you do have to walk through the front bedroom from the back bedroom to get to the bathroom. Just be cool with that and you'll be all set!

The condo was very clean and suited our needs well. Nice area and easy access to get to the bus or streetcar to go into the quarter. Beds were comfortable. The first night there however, we were out and popped back to find the property manager coming out of the house after he had just left a message saying that he left some toilet paper for our stay OUTSIDE. This made me feel somewhat uneasy. Based on previous reviews, i wonder if this is a recurring situation. The couch in the livingroom is pretty worn and should be replaced. However despite these issues, we would likely stay here again.

The layout was funny but the place was very clean and the kitchen was nice. The only real negative the living room couch was worn and uncomfortable.

I really enjoyed my stay at this property. It is a very nice historical place. We had everything we need it in the house. The property management is very nice and responsive. I contacted him about the parking and he responded within a few minutes.

Great location to city park where my lacrosse tournament was. There are walkable local pubs and groceries, but also close to the street car for trips to the quarter. Had a great visit and will be back!

check out procedures ruined everything. Strange people were in the house while we were gone. We arrived to find a male hanging out on the porch and a female inside cleaning. They had packed up our belongings. I had iPhones iPads and jewelry that were touched and moved. I did not like this at all. The owner knew we were there to play tennis I gave him our schedule ...he tried to call us to rush us out but cell phones are not allowed at tennis. We got his messages along with threats of a 50.00 fine the next day. Anyways. Nice place turned scary

The house was in a great location and extremely clean! Absolutely no complaints there!! I always like to do a pro – con list to help future renters understand exactly what they are getting! PROS: Location location location – right near city park in the very safe! House was clean and beds were comfortable Modern kitchen with most of the items that you would need to cook! Plenty of towels & very hot water in the shower! CONS: This layout offers zero privacy - would not recommend this for two couples traveling together… But would work for a family with two adults and two children. The master bedroom is located in the center of the home and in order to get to the bathroom or the kitchen you must walk through that bedroom. The floors are pretty loud so anyone trying to sleep in that room would be woken up. There is no full length mirror anywhere in the house. You are very limited on mirrors and a five dollar mirror from Walmart would be a wonderful asset! There is no trashcan in the bathroom and the walk from the bathroom to the kitchen once again goes through the master bedroom and it's just a very inconvenient set up. Highly recommend adding a small trashcan to the bathroom! The blinds throughout the house are very light therefore you must wake up with the sun. This did make it difficult on the mornings we wanted to sleep past 7 AM after having a couple of late evenings. Probably the most frustrating aspect of our stay was when the property manager had to come into the house twice while we were there because a former guest had left their keys and they needed to drop off paper goods. I understand that keys were left, but perhaps we could have left the keys outside the property instead of them having to enter the house with all of our belongings and being there. Also, I would recommend dropping off paper goods before the guests arrive. We went down to the grocery store to purchase those items not knowing they would be dropped off the next day. I still rated our stay a four because it did serve a purpose for us as I was traveling with my mother and my 17-year-old daughter. Due to the set up of the beds, she slept on the couch. They advertise there are two queen beds, but the back bedroom really is a trundle bed. That did not work for us because I would have to physically step on my kid if I woke up before she did. Once again, the layout presents some issues if you are traveling with more than two people.
