The suite is in the heart of Carolina Beach and walking distance to downtown and everything that is has to offer. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or party boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island.

You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier complete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is nearby, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday and FIREWORKS every Thursday. We welcome you to sit back, relax and enjoy yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for!

These suites are a mixture of the original “period” construction and old-world charm, a kiss of shabby-chic modernity, and today’s technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everyone! Each suite has its own distinct traits, quirks, and characteristics. Above all else, it should feel like your “home away from home” while vacationing with us on our Island!

The entry to this 0 bedroom, 1 bath suite opens into a newly furnished family room combined with an open dining area and fully equipped kitchen (stove oven, refrigerator). The kitchen is stocked will all the basic cooking and dining utensils one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, coffer maker and blender ready to help make yourself at home (while on Vacay!).

1 courtesy soap, shampoo and conditioner are left in the bathroom of each home as well as 2 rolls of TP per bath, 1 makeup wipe and one backup toothbrush. 1 roll of paper towel, a sponge, dish soap, 2 trash bags per receptacle and (*as applicable) 3 dishwasher and laundry pods will be available to use if needed!

1 set of the following will be made on a per bed/per person basis to help you be comfortable on your adventure! Bed sheets (fitted/flat set), bath towels, wash cloths, cleaning rags, pillowcases, bathmats and kitchen towels. Laundering or extra sets are not an available service regrettably. Please make sure all used linens are placed in one location in the home at departure. Please let all BED LINENS remain on the beds for our TEAM to take care of! A sincere thanks for your help and we hope that YOU have an AMAZING ADVENTURE!

There is one smart TV in each suite to utilize one's personal subscriptions (such as Netflix or Hulu) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and enjoy some movies or shows after a long day at the beach!

Neighborhood description

Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island. The building itself is one row away from the ocean, and one row from Carolina Beach Lake. The property is set under a block from downtown Carolina Beach with its shops, activities, and dining.

Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and vacationers all looking to escape the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun. We truly have an amazing community! Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. This doesn’t even include the aweing scenery of Airlie Gardens, and our very own battleship (USS NC) in Wilmington! Perhaps more relaxing and less “adventure” is your speed Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

Getting around

There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has several vendors such as Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 308 S Lake Park Blvd, Carolina Beach, NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks, chairs, and umbrellas) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. There's Sun Fun Rentals @1204 N Lake Park Blvd Unit F Carolina Beach, NC 28428. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all!

After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

This is a one-room unit with a single bathroom. No bathroom sink. The only sink is is a kitchen sink! Pros: * Perfect for two spending most time outdoors * Two-minute walk to Lake Drive beach access * Convenient bike ride/walk to everything: the Lake Park, restaurants and a cool little Indy Veggie Wagon grocer with gluten-free, vegetarian options. Cons: * Old, nasty-looking toilet seat * Dead batteries in TV remote and no lightbulb in the only lamp in the room Both are considered something very basic things about which we could email maintenance and they'd drop it off within 24 hours. We emailed about the batteries. No one ever responded. * We experienced an appearance of periodic bugs on two consecutive nights when a two- inch-cockroach wandered into the room. Salt Water real estate considers this reportable only if there seems to be an excess. Sorry, one huge cockroach is too many! * In-room booklet provided incorrect WIFI network name. * Indoor and outdoor lighting came on automatically, the latter attracting flying insects on the porch. This property charges a substantial cleaning fee for a room the size of a walk-in closet. Visible dust bunnies were hanging from the ceiling in a corner above the refrigerator.

This unit is compact, but managed to have everything we needed for our stay! We arrived to a very clean space, the ac worked well, the shower was spacious with good water pressure, and the beds were comfy. It would be hard to beat the location without a huge price leap. We'll definitely stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Parking was a little tight because the person in the other unit had a larger truck. The connecting door to the next unit caught us off guard too but it was not an issue! The neighbors were not loud at all. This was a great find and all you need for a short get away. We loved being just a few steps from the beach and a few blocks from all the Carolina Beach stores, shops, and restaurants. We would recommend this place to anyone and will look for its availability in the future.

Overall it was in a great location and walking distance to the beach and a lot of local restaurants. However the parking was not made very clear so I parked in the wrong spot and was yelled at by a neighbor. After help from a person working in the office I was finally pointed in the right direction. The host responded way later which kinda sucked. The property had a very bad smell, the toilet was dirty with black mildew and needed to have the bowl scrubbed, red fingers prints on the wall of the shower, no fire detector, No way to make coffee no reusable k cup and digging out of a jar seemed very unsanitary. I think the worst part was the fact there was no sink in the bathroom and the sink in the kitchen had toothpaste that was spit out by previous guest. Not really sure what the cleaning fee was for considering the place barely looked clean and I had to make the beds and take out the trash which was fine. The only issue with that was there was no trash can behind the building like I was told so I had to drive it to a gas station before I left. Lastly the beds were soooooo uncomfortable my 10 year old and I were up all night and if you have any back problems don’t pick this place. I wish I could speak better of this place but I just can’t.

I needed some time to chill & reset. This was a perfect spot for me & I'm sure I will return. The maintenance man came @ night to help fix a/c, then put in a new one when old one wasn’t fixable. Both Carol & her associate were friendly & accommodating. I had an enjoyable time.
