Come stay in our newly renovated 1890's train station in the heart of the bluegrass.

We are on a working thoroughbred horse farm right off Paris Pike, one of the most scenic areas in all of Central Kentucky. Drive by Gainsway and Elemendorf farms on the way to Claiborne farm. 15 minutes to the Kentucky Horse Park, Fasig Tipton, close to Keeneland and the Lexington area attractions.

Hutchison Station was part of the L&N railroad system between 1890-1950, it still has theoriginal hardwood floors, 12' ceilings and much of the original molding. In its heyday it included a post office, livestock loading platform, general store and blacksmith's shop. You can read more about the station house in 'Ghost Railroads of Kentucky'. Many of the original families still live in the area.
Area activities include a 9 hole golf course within walking distance, and a short drive to many 18 hole courses, horse farm tours, historical sites including Shakertown, Mary Todd Lincoln House, Henry Clay Estate, Civil War battlefields and much more.
We have easy access to I75 & I64 and are located 1/2 way between Lexington and Paris.

This property is simply amazing! The house is very cute, very clean and well-appointed. The grounds are beautiful! Seeing the mares and their babies every day was such a treat. Very close to downtown Lexington and also the cute little Main Street of Paris. Our host, Steve, was very friendly and answered all my questions promptly. We had no issues at all - I just asked him for some info on places to see, eat, etc. We had an amazing stay and I would love to stay again some time in the future.

This is a very nice place to stay, with the interior being especially clean and updated, and the outdoors peaceful with a beautiful view. Both Steve and Lisa were exceptionally helpful and friendly, generously sharing their working farm with guests. We had no complaints and we highly recommend this property.

Could not have loved this place more. The home was perfect for us. The location is excellent. A peaceful retreat but a close drive to all the area has to offer. We can’t wait to come back.

This property is as described and we found the accommodation to be very cozy. The beds were very comfortable. And we LOVED feeding apples & carrots to the horses and donkeys each day. The check in was super easy. And the host very responsive. The internet was on the slow side, but the host mentioned faster service being worked on in the county and they should be connected soon. We were even greeted with a plate of homemade chocolate cookies which was a nice touch.

Wow! What a wonderful place to stay to end our Kentucky trip! Exactly as the listing states. Getting up and close with the horses and the donkey’s were the highlight of our trip. Highly recommend to anyone!

Tranquil &Beautiful We loved the peaceful charm of this beautifully renovated train station. The drive to the property is amazing, lined w amazing thoroughbred horse farms & stunning stone walls the entire way. We stayed in 1of the 2 units; our windows overlooked the donkeys, delightfully vocal in greeting us. Our unit was clean, spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully decorated w/ welcoming furnishings & artwork. The beds were also comfortable. The primary br has an ensuite bath, while the 2nd bath is located across from the 2nd bedroom. There are plenty of outlets throughout; always appreciated. Towels were fluffy, sheets felt high-end, and the kitchen was well stocked w/ cookware & an eclectic assortment of dishes and glassware. Missing only martini glasses and a shaker. The AC works well & is quiet. The stacked laundry is handy; detergent & dryer sheets provided. Watching the mares & their (very young) foals in the fields was such a treat. A few things to know:1. The refrigerator in the unit is compact (hotel-size, 3 cu. ft.) w/ a very small freezer section; too sm. to be functional. There is a full-size fridge in a room behind the unit, accessible from o/s the unit & may be shared. Steve kindly brought us ice.2. Wi-Fi is available. During our stay it was very slow 20 Mbps.3. Water pressure in kitchen is excellent; the showers had SIGNIFICANTLY lower pressure.4. We had a single hair dryer; the higher speed didn’t seem safe to use.

My teenage daughter and I stayed here for a week during spring break to visit university of Kentucky, lots of thoroughbred stud & mare farms, Keeneland, and Churchill Downs. It was a great place to come back to at the end of the day and just relax and look at the all of the horses in the fields- absolutely loved watching the mares with their foals and being greeted each time by the precious two donkeys that live just next to the house. Very peaceful location, perfect place to get to all of the other attractions we wanted to see. The house is just as beautiful as the pictures with a very tall ceilings and very clean, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. We had everything we needed. Easy check in and check out, and Steve even stopped by to say hey when we were “home”. A special added treat were the homemade chocolate chip cookies that greeted us after a 7 1/2 hour drive! Would absolutely stay there again and 100% recommend it!

We surprised our horse loving daughter with a stay here and we were all blown away. This property was stunning inside and out. Definitely the cleanest rental I have ever been in. The horses were beautiful and the donkeys were so precious! Sadie and John George were my daughter's best friends while we were there and we were so sad to leave them! We will definitely be back!!

We stayed for our trip to Keeneland for opening weekend of horse racing! After a noisy day at the track it is so nice to come to this beautiful renovated train station to spend the night. It is so quiet and peaceful. Waking up and watching the beautiful horses in the field is definitely an added plus. Owners are amazing and I can’t recommend this gorgeous place highly enough. If you have children with you, the donkeys are super friendly and love peppermints!

Loved staying at this unique property with nearby horses and donkeys. The place was immaculate and spacious. Communication with the host was excellent. Location was perfect for tours of private horse farms, Keeneland Race Course and Woodford Reserve Distillery. Will stay here again if back in Lexington.

We loved our stay! The place was clean and comfortable, and peaceful. The only thing we missed was having a cookie sheet, because I like to make bacon in the oven. Steve was really nice to chat with, as I saw him out and about on the property a couple of times. I’d definitely stay again! Being a horse person, I loved the daily views and interactions with the mares and foals!

Kentucky horse country is beyond beautiful and this rental home is in the middle of it. There were 35 foals born this spring and the house looks out on the pasture where they roam during the day with their moms...what could be more amazing? My 11 year fed the horses and the donkeys her weight in baby carrots and apples in the three nights we spent and has already asked when we can visit again. It is a short, beautiful drive into Lexington and the home is comfortable and private.

This property is absolutely gorgeous. Quiet, clean and comfortably elegant. It was a nice bonus to have laundry detergent, washer and dryer available, too. The only complaint is the toilet paper was GREAT!!!! And that is my pet peeve at most rentals. Cheap toilet paper! So.... gotta find a new pet peeve. Wonderful stay by teen and parents.

We could not be more pleased with our stay here. The place was extremely clean and had ample room for 3 adults that we never felt crowded. The surrounding area is stunning with the added bonus of the nearby animals to watch and listen to. The owner communication was an added bonus and we felt the warm welcome with the flowers and cookies. Thank you so much for an enjoyable stay, cant wait to return here again! Great stay overall!!

We have stayed in multiple locations over the years for our Keeneland trip and this is by far the BEST place we have stayed! Beautiful, relaxing and the hosts are great! The donkeys are so sweet! We looked out the living room window to see momma horses with their new babies in the field. Breathtaking views!

We stayed here for a long weekend visiting our daughters who attend college and University of Kentucky and Xavier University (Cincinnati is only a little over an hour away). We rented out both units. This is our third stay at this property and it didn’t disappoint. Both units are clean and the photos are accurate. The property is quiet and peaceful and our family loved seeing the horses and donkeys - many which would walk up to you when they see you. The owner is easy to communicate with. We prepared some meals at the units and the cookware was good. This is our favorite Vrbo in the Lexington area and we will definitely be back.
