Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
Welcome to our historical Civil War Farmhouse. The Stone home was built in 1789. With some of the original wood floors and beams. At the time of the Battle of Gettysburg (July 1863) the property 7 miles southwest of Gettysburg, had been a working farm for over 75 years. It was remodeled 15 years ago and became a cozy family home. Where children grew and memories were created. While keeping its historic character, also contains modern conveniences (updated kitchen and baths, central heating and air conditioning etc.) We’re located in a quiet residential area, away from the hustle and bustle of town life. Only about 10 mins from historic downtown Gettysburg.
We offer 3 bedrooms (upstairs, 1 Full. 2 Queen) and 1 ½ bathrooms. Fully equipped kitchen, dining area, Living room, a TV with streaming channels and Wi-Fi. All bedrooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floor. Due to this being a historic home, ceilings and doorways are low. The floors creak and slant. The home may not be functional for people with certain physical mobility issues.
It is our goal to provide each of our guest with a wonderful stay. If at any point during your stay, you need something or feel we have not met your needs, please contact us immediately so we may rectify it.
Booked this as a getaway for my parents. Everything was amazing! It reminded them of childhood memories, everything was tastefully decorated with Civil War décor and interesting reads, it was immaculate, all the nice amenities set up for them was so thoughtful and convenient. Used the fire pit outside, the pond across the street was a pretty view in the morning even saw a few fisherman (unusually/perfectly warm weekend for October!), convenient drive to Gettysburg, great recommendations for local sports from the owners who were very responsive. This home completed their whole Gettysburg experience. Highly recommended, would definitely return! Tom & Joan
This house is everything it says in the description and more. The house is private and secluded, yet close to everything. The distance to the battlefield and town was very convenient and easy to drive. The house was decorated perfectly. It was clean. All furniture was comfortable. The house adds to the authenticity of the visit to a Civil War trip. My favorite part was just sitting on the back porch and watching the squirrels run around in the perfect back yard. The owners are wonderful, we were showed around the house and taught how to use the technology (fancy lights and doors) and everything was just perfect. You can't go wrong with this rental. God blessed this home many years ago and now that blessing is shared with all who stay there!
Absolutely wonderful! Comfortable beds, quiet location. Great indoor and outdoor space for relaxing. Favorite Vrbo rental thus far!
We absolutely loved this cute, historic farmhouse. It had all the amenities you would want and some history to boot. Super clean as well! It was also close to all the sites we wanted to tour and we were so happy to have tried Brother's Pizza. Great food and lots of choices and very close. If we are ever back up to this area we would definitely stay here again. Also the host was amazing and actually met us at the place to make sure we had everything we needed. This is a must stay if you are in the area!
We had a wonderful time staying here with our boys. Great location, house is beautiful and historic. All the owner's attention to detail made our stay super nice. I would highly recommend this house to stay in. Close to all the Gettysburg sites, but not in all the hustle of the town.:)
This property is lovely. We enjoyed the modern amenities coupled with this historic charm. Kevin was so prompt and courteous with every communication and request. Sadly we did not encounter any ghosts although the house is quite old. By staying out of town, we discovered a new part of the park to the northwest where JEB Stuart among others rallied. Thank you Hartlaubs!
Our favorite part: You feel like you’re far out in the countryside but in reality you’re only a ten-minute drive into Gettysburg town center. The quiet, countryside beauty allowed us to experience real rest & leisure away from town’s bustle. We loved this way of experiencing the local history by staying in an historic farm house. Its aesthetic is right on par with that history (and even the TV is a Samsung Frame that looks like a painting of a Civil War scene on the wall!). That said, the house is very much up to date with a lovely kitchen, bathroom(s) and sunroom - as well as a great outdoor patio/fire pit space and brand new grill. Our active one-year-old who’s so close to walking loved exploring the house, its grounds and nearby pond. We brought our pack-n-play for baby to sleep in at night and for naps, as well as a white-noise sound machine and audio monitor. Both were helpful because we could enjoy sitting outside as nap time happened in an upstairs bedroom, and the sound machine blurred the occasional car/motorcycle speeding by (the house is close to the road, as you can see in the photos). Very thoughtful details by the property owners, Kevin and Cari. You can immediately see and feel how much they care for this space and for your time staying in it! Kevin was very accommodating with our unusual schedule (an unpredictably timed Gettysburg College athlete graduation) and generously available/flexible for both check in and check out. Thank you so much!
