The Old Farmhouse is located on an 80-acre working forage farm in the rural Eastern Kentucky Appalachian Mountains, an area rich in history and mountain tradition.

It's a step back in time but, with modern conveniences. With 2 full beds upstairs and a queen bed downstairs, it will accommodate up to 6 adult guests and you will have the entire home to yourself. It also offers a fully equipped kitchen, a parlor, an office area, a full bath with a laundry area on the first floor and another full bath upstairs, both with showers.

The house is believed to have been built sometime in the early1880's originally constructed with hand-hewn beams for the foundation, square nails and rough-sawn lumber. After a 3-year plus restoration of the home, much of the original structure was left intact. The house features original style mill work and siding, original window frames with the wavy window glass, original gable-end architecture, replicated and original window trims, a metal roof, half-round guttering, the original hand-made, hand-planed kitchen door with its square nails, locally milled hard-maple flooring and other time-appropriate features along with some curious construction anomalies left as originally constructed. It's furnished with early 1900's and vintage furniture and Victorian replicas including a 1930's working radio and a Sears phonograph, a 1924 farmhouse sink, Gone with the Wind lamps, antique fireplace mantle and decorative summer covers over the closed fireplaces. As a neighbor said, It's like coming home.

During your stay, you may see various wildlife such as deer, turkey and other animals native to the area. On a clear night, you can star-gaze or sit under our partially covered pavilion watching the fireflies (lightning bugs as they are called here) and listen to the sounds of the occasional whippoorwill call or the whoo whoo of a Great Horned Owl and in early spring, the sounds of the frogs singing. You have access to an outdoor grill, fire pit, picnic table, outdoor seating, outdoor games of horseshoes, and bean bag toss (cornhole) and (during warm months) an outdoor TV under the pavilion to stream your favorite shows. Or, if you choose, you may want to hike thru the woods on the farm or maybe just sit on the front porch in one of our cane-bottomed antique rockers and straight-backed chairs and birdwatch or enjoy checkers or chess in the parlor.

Since it is a working forage farm, on occasion, you may see and hear vintage tractors and farm equipment as we prepare for harvesting square baled hay.

The location is within approximately 35 miles of the Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge State Resort Park, Buckhorn Lake State Park, and Levi Jackson State Park. Nearby activities include rock climbing, hiking (including the Motherlode), Sag Hollow Golf Course, underground kayaking, ziplines, ATV trails (including Wildcat ATV Park in London, KY) bowling, indoor rock climbing and more.

Our amenities include:

*Kitchen: fully stocked kitchen, including small refrigerator, stove, small microwave, counter-top oven/air fryer, coffee pot, toaster, mixer, utensils, dishes (no dishwasher), garbage bags, dish soap, coffee, creamer, cooking oil, salt, pepper & sugar.

For security purposes, when the home is empty, we have a Roku security camera located in the pavilion. Self-check in is via an access code for the front door.

* Heating/Cooling: a mini-split system with units in each room (except bathrooms) allows bedrooms to be individually temperature controlled.

Looking over the photos of the 1880 Farmhouse, I wasn't sure as it looked so fancy with a lot of great furniture. I am so glad I went ahead and rented. The home is very comfy! The host and hostess have thought of everything to ensure your stay is a welcome memory. Their home is so inviting. We were coming to Booneville for genealogy. We stayed because of the Farmhouse. The porch rockers are so relaxing. We spent time at the home just enjoy all the amenities of the outdoor area. I really cannot say enough about the wonderful, relaxing time we had in this home. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bathroom towels are soft, good quality, soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash are all provided. We slept so well in the beds. Overall, it was a great experience and we are planning a trip back to enjoy the comfort of the Farmhouse.

It was absolutely lovely. The hosts were so kind and you can tell how much they love their property. We really appreciated the unique look of the property from the ceilings to the record player and so on. The only thing that was difficult was being able to find the house because the address wasn’t super friendly with GPS.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. The house was beautifully decorated and very clean and well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Stephen and Zina were fantastic hosts. We enjoyed meeting them in person and all the history they gave us on the house and the area. The whole stay was restful and peaceful and very relaxing. We would highly recommend to others.

We had an amazing visit with family while staying at Steve and Zana’s. As noted in other comments the house is pristine. A lot of thought has gone into what will make for a great stay. The beds are very comfy. We enjoyed the fire pit and outdoor TV with a cookout. Highly recommend this location for anyone visiting the area or RRG. The home is adorable. Steve and Zana are great hosts.

The Old Farmhouse and property are immaculately clean and well maintained. The house offers all the things most sought after in a home away from home while traveling-- comfortable beds, well stocked and furnished kitchen and clean bathrooms supplied with good quality linens and toiletries. The hosts/owners, Zina and Stephen, skillfully restored and furnished the house to maintain the appearance and feel of a beautiful old home while providing modern conveniences and technology. Whether sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch listening to birdsong as deer amble down the road outside the picket fence, or chatting with loved ones around the firepit in the outdoor pavilion, the beauty and peace of mountain life surround you. We met our hosts when we checked in. Zina had called prior to our arrival date to ask our preferences for packaged breakfast items which she placed in the fridge to welcome us. Their stories about the restoration of the house and acquisition of furnishings were fascinating. They display Southern hospitality at its finest, being readily available if needed, but totally respectful of their guests' privacy. Our stay here was a wonderful experience which we hope to repeat!

As a lover of all things vintage … our house was built in 1911 (Florida)….Steve and Zina have done an AMAZING job with this property. Beautiful inside and out. We had a wonderful stay with our most gracious hosts. From stocking the fridge with breakfast items (yes they ask what you would like in the fridge) to our welcome walk thru…,definitely heading back up there soon. We travel a lot (Hilton Diamond for Life)) and VRBO frequent guest… this is a must on any travelers list. Thank you for our wonderful visit to Kentucky! We will see you all this summer!
