Property we were moved to would be good for a single family with two adults and children but not multiple couples. 2nd and 3rd sleeping options did not provide privacy (no doors) and furnace was loud enough to wake us up every time it kicked on. Beautiful country setting with Creek and sun room. Still waiting on reimbursement of funds for downgrade a few days before trip.
The house is old and there isn't much to the property but its perfect for the price and has a lot of room for sleeping. Really happy with how easy it was and it wasnt too far from cookeville.
Nice older house plenty of room for the kids as well as adults. Screened in back porch and large back yard was nice as well
The house was very clean but lacking wastebaskets, towel hooks, and heat. It was between seasons. They were not quite ready for visitors - no soap, TP, hand soap, paper towels. They mowed the grass and provided the missing things after we arrived. The surrounds were crowded with piles of debre nearby. However we choose the house because it had a shallow creek and our little kids could wade in the creek. And they enjoyed the creek.
I would first like to start my review by saying I have had absolutely NO interaction (positive or negative) with the property owner. There have been no issues or complaints following my say at this Cookeville house. We always clean before we leave and make sure to follow the checkout guidelines, exactly. —the only interaction I have had with anyone, was with the property management company. Upon our arrival, we noticed that the house was completely bare of standard cooking supplies. (No baking sheets, pots, pans, cutting board...etc) We called the property management company right away and they rectified the problem immediately and with great kindness and apology. (A very positive interaction) That being said, let’s talk about the Pros and Cons of this house. Starting with the Pros: The house was beautifully decorated with cute and charming pieces in each room. The house had four bedrooms and plenty of space for a large family. The house had a washer & dryer. The AC worked well. The house was equipped with fresh linens and many travel toiletries. Disinfectant wipes were provided near each sink for Covid sanitation purposes and the house was well stocked in soap, toilet paper and paper towels. The house was located very close to several state parks, which was our purpose of staying in Cookeville to begin with. When we arrived, there was a snack basket presented to us on the counter with a hand written note and brochure of local attractions. (Very sweet and helpful) Now, onto the Cons: This house was poorly updated and falling apart. The paint was bubbling off the walls. You could tear a five square foot piece off with one quick tug. The carpets were dirty and stained. The “updated” kitchen flooring was peeling off the ground, as it was a stick-on floor covering. There were cockroaches in the kitchen, amongst other insects flying around. The kitchen had very little dishes and utensils supplied, so you had to wash immediately after use, for the next meal / snack. The whole house smelled like mildew. The screen porch was not well sealed, and a family of hornets occupied it during the day. The yard was overgrown and not well maintained. The gas grill either did not work anymore, or was out of propane. And, the house, itself, is located 10 feet from a high speed, farm road, which is very noisy and unsettling. Cookeville was fun, due to the nearby parks.... We made the best of it, but we would not rent this house again.
It was a nice cozy get away. The only thing I will say that was inconvenient was that there weren't any pots and pans to cook with, so I had to buy some cheap ones from the dollar tree. I don't know if the previous tenant took them or what happened, but managed. Owners were very polite any time I reached out. Thank you for a relaxing stay!
The property had plenty of room and was decorated well. The location was perfect for seeing the local waterfall parks. Be aware that although there is a full kitchen there is nothing to cook with - no pots or pans of any kind.
We had a great weekend in Cookeville. The house was well laid out for our group of 8. When we arrived a maintenance crew was just finishing up carpet cleaning, yard work, and clearing vines from the back of the property. We enjoyed the screened porch and creek on the back of the property. It was a great house for a rustic weekend enjoying some great hiking and fireworks in Tennessee.
I don’t normally leave bad reviews as I myself am a business owner but I don’t want anyone else to have a bad experience and spend the money renting this property like we did. Very unsanitary....roaches in kitchen, mattresses and couches are extremely filthy including stains and globs of hair and dirt along the wooden box that the master bed sits on from where it hasn’t been even swept in who knows how long. The entire property has been taken over with poison ivy including the back screened in porch and the grass hadn’t been mowed in what looked like weeks, I hated even letting our dog out as I wasn’t sure what she’d come in contact with. I can say that they had bags of ice in freezer for us, nice white bath towels and it is close to an amazing catfish pay pond and Cummins Falls....however definitely NOT worth paying to stay in those types of conditions. We are being very cautious with looking through our belongings and are actually keeping them outside until thoroughly cleaned, I just hope we didn’t bring any of that filth back home with us!!!!
Owner responded immediately to confirm reservation request. The house was clean, had a big back yard leading to a the creek, and check in/out very easy. Would definitely recommend and stay again in the future :)
