We loved location. Easy to get to hiking and historical areas, parks and points of our interest. Old house, has its own charm. Although lots of dust and spider webs especially around the house. Big minus if you staying long there is no a washer so we had to go to the laundromat once. Nice big yard, we got lucky with beautiful weather, starry skies and beautiful views of lake and mountains when hiking and driving around. Feels like this property is new for renting, so there is no books and table games if you have family gatherings and want to play. These days everyone has cellphones or iPads for these, but still it is nice to sit around the table and play cards or games with family or friends in the evening. Big porch and part of it is screened, so it was nice to sit in the rocking chair with the book or cup of coffee. The property manager was helpful to get stuff which we needed although it was delayed because of problems with emails. Bathroom upstairs needs to be fixed there was leaking at several spots, so kids couldn’t use bathtub and hot water in the sink. In spite of these things the stay was nice anyway.
Happy stay at this charming home, with vintage furniture and appointments, comfortable layout; accommodations!
Beautiful property, and the house is quaint and homey; however, the air conditioner in the downstairs bedroom was one that had a hose and should have had a drain to the outside? There was water all over the floor and so we couldn’t use that air conditioner. Not sure what someone was thinking there? It was 90 outside so it was completely miserable to try and sleep. We also found live beds under our sheets, and the sheets were so old and worn they wouldn’t stay on the bed and the mattresses are worn out. The upstairs tub and plumbing doesn’t, work well, so everyone was using the downstairs shower. There was a cleaning lady the when we got there, and she was very nice, but the entire place needs a deep cleaning. Our feet were filthy after walking barefoot inside, For the amount of money we paid, it was definitely not worth it. I tried to reach the owner, or person in charge of this property about the air conditioner while we were there and got no response. I also called the number on the realtor sign, and got a voicemail where I left a message and never heard back. The pictures must be from years ago because it definitely needs a lot of updating done. We should get at least some money back for the inconvenience and problems with the air and plumbing.
The location of this farmhouse was perfect for us. It is approximately 1 mile from the public dock which had ample parking. The house itself has tremendous character. It was unseasonably warm during our stay so it was hot the first night. There were some fans but the cooling unit in one room kept shutting off. There was a problem with the fridge leaking, but the owner responded promptly. I would definitely stay here again, especially because our dog could join us on the trip.
Pros: - It's potentially an inexpensive place for a group - Location is pretty good, not too far to get to the lake, to Bolton, to Lake George Village - Kitchen has dishes, flatware, and appliances to be able to cook and eat meals. Cons: - Old house that hasn't been kept up: very dusty, paint peeling, one bathroom shower head is waist-high. - Linens, towels, and pillows are crappy and in minimal supply. - Old oven makes the house very warm.
My husband and I and our dog recently stayed at this farmhouse and found it quite charming . Even though it is an older property it was very clean and had modern amenities like cell phone coverage, WiFi access and cable tv . The lot is about an acre and was plenty of room to walk our dog (plus the property is centrally located to lake George , lake Champlain and the eastern Adirondacks .) The only question mark is the heat - right now it is rather piecemeal between electric baseboards and a propane heater in some rooms and a centrally located wood stove .
