Delhi, New York
Located on a secluded, winding country road. Set among rolling fields and forests, surrounded by gardens, waterfall streams and stone walls the house is both rusticly simple and modern at the same time. A four season communion with nature.
Hand restored Greek Revival farmhouse. Gourmet kitchen with radiant heated hand cut local bluestone floor and cozy heating stove with full views of gardens through panoramic floor to ceiling windows. Two comfortable downstairs sitting rooms with original hand cut pine floors, one with woodburning stove and other with TV. Mahogony walled wet space with rainshower and huge windows allow you take 'outdoor' showers year round. Upstairs three bedrooms (1 king, 1 queen, 2 twins) study and bathroom with soaking tub.
Fieldstone patio with Weber BBQ, stone fire pit, covered side porch, streamside hammock, and many other restful spots throughout the grounds and outbuildings.
A secluded escape from hectic city life in the ecologically protected NYC watershed (this is the water we drink.) Streams and wetlands afford abundant wildlife watching. Eagles soar overhead and coyotes howl at night. On a clear night gaze at the Milky Way and watch the shooting stars fall to earth.
Great hiking year round and skiing at Plattekill and Belleayre in the winter. Cooperstown and the All Star Village are both short antique, wine and cheese shop lined drive away (via college town Oneonta) and SUNY Delhi maintains beautiful hiking trails and a world class golf course nearby.
A great place to get away from it all with some friends or family, especially for those who love to cook. Explore the local villages and farms by day and share a home cooked meal or enjoy the local restaurants at night.
This was our third visit to this house and another great stay. This time we hit it in peak fall leaf season and the natural beauty everywhere was incredible: We enjoyed many long walks, lounged by the waterfalls and cooked great meals on the grills. We appreciated the new king size bed in the master, the home made strawberry rhubarb jam was both thoughtful and delicious and Jeff and Jeff were great hosts again. If you are looking for a great getaway in a beautiful historic home in a peaceful setting look no further. Thanks again Jeff and Jeff.
Perfect
Just like the listing said, it is a very charming farmhouse on beautiful grounds. The kitchen was nicely redone with modern appliances. But the interior designing was not to my taste, very old, mix matched styles throughout. My biggest concern was the main bathroom’s walls. The wall paper is completely peeling off, exposing the wood walls. The old paper pictures taped on with painters tape was also peeling off and very poorly done. The stairs are also steep with short steps. The interior could definitely use some upgrades to modernize the charming farmhouse.
This house is amazing. Built in the 1850s it is a very cute home! The neighborhood is amazing and quiet. Plenty of space outside to play and entertain. The home is occupied and lived in so there are plenty of amenities in the home. Unfortunately there is no washer and dryer, so that would be the only downfall of the property. Jeff, the house assistant was very nice and accommodating when we showed up and before we left. I would highly recommend staying here to my friends and family.
We rented Bear Hill Farm for a reunion weekend in nearby Oneonta. We wanted a place to escape from the organized activities with the mob. The house is a delight: wide plank floors, large bedrooms and bathrooms, and the most well-stocked kitchen we have ever seen. It was truly a joy to cook in this kitchen and to dine on the gorgeous glasstop table. Lots of great spaces for reading, conversing, andenjoying the garden views.
We had a wonderful fall weekend in the cabin! The grounds are lovely and the area is restful with a few fun shops / restaurants. Highly recommend a visit when the leaves are changing!
Bearhill Farm is a little slice of heaven. Nestled in the mountains and situated on your own private arboretum with a babbling brook and waterfalls -- this is the place to relax and find inner peace. The house is well appointed, cozy, rustic, artsy and modern all at the same time. Beautiful kitchen -- Jeff left us a welcoming bottle of Prosecco and homemade mint jelly -- and views to die for of the beautiful yard. We enjoyed our coffee on the porch every morning. Even though it rained one day, it was still romantic to sit on the porch and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Jeff the owner and Jeff the Caretaker made sure our stay was perfect from check-in to check-out. The bed was comfortable and the sheets and blanket were soft and luxurious. I really cannot say enough good things about this special home. We definitely want to come back!! Thank you, Jeff ❤
Cozy property with great amenities. Excellent communication too. Would stay again!
Loved everything about BHF. Jeff & Jeff both made me feel welcome and genuinely interested in my stay. Driving to and from Oneonta to watch baseball was beautiful and peaceful. The house is fabulous and cozy. Planning a return visit in the near future. Highly recommend. Thanks.
Excellent home for relaxing after our long days watching our son play baseball at Allstar Village for the week. The 35 minute drive to the fields was easy All the comforts of home. Property is well stocked for convenience. Jeff the owner and Jeff the care taker we’re tremendous! Any questions or needs were promptly answered and taken care of! A+++ Enjoyed our stay, The Cornell’s
