Celina is located in both Colin and Denton counties in Texas. The population here back at the time of the 2000 census was just 1,861. Then at the 2010 the population shot up to 6,028. Running North/South through the town is State Highway 289 which is known to locals as “Preston Road.” It starts close to Downtown Dallas and ends near Sherman. The great thing about Celina is that it is located between Downtown Dallas and the Oklahoma border. The Celina Independent School District serves the youth of Celina. There is one primary school which serves students in grades pre-k and kindergarten. There are two elementary schools, “Celina Elementary School” and “Odell Elementary.” These elementary schools serve children in grades one through five. Then there is the “Celina Middle School” for students in the sixth grade as well as the “Celina Junior High School” for students in grades seven and eight. Finally there is the “Celina High School” for students in grades nine through twelve. This high school has one of the best athletic programs in all of Texas!
