Mandeville is located in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. The population here back at the time of the 2010 census was 11,560. Fast forward to 2016 when a non census poll was conducted which showed that the population at that time was close to 12,500. Mandeville is actually the name of two villages in Normandy, France. The meaning of the name is “big farm” in medieval Norman French. According to the United States Census Bureau, Mandeville is 6.8 square miles in size with approximately 0.12 miles of that being water. Mandeville became incorporated all the way back in 1840. If you were to look on a map you would see that Mandeville is located on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain, just South of Interstate 12. This area of Louisiana is part of the New Orleans – Metairie – Kenner Metro Area. The weather here in Mandeville is categorized as “Humid Subtropical.” This means that the summer months will be hot and sometimes oppressive. The winter months on the other hand will be much shorter but cold and wet. The coldest part of the year here goes from the beginning of December until almost the end of February when the daily average high is just about 70 degrees. The low for this time is 43 degrees. The winter here does not last very long and even when it does get cold, it will not be so cold that you won’t want to leave your house. During the winter the temperatures can sometimes drop into the high 20’s but this is not a common occurrence. One of the perks of living here in Mandeville is the lack of snowfall. There are zero inches of snowfall here each year which is great if you were looking to escape the snow and head to a somewhat warmer climate. Now it may not snow a lot here but it does rain quite a bit here due to the climate type. You can expect to see around 63 inches of rainfall per year which is significantly higher that the national average of just under 40 inches.

Here in Mandeville the St. Tammany Parish Public Schools operate several public schools in the area. There are also several private schools here as well. When it comes to elementary schools there are three of them as well as two other that serve other areas outside of Mandeville.
