Interlachen is located in Putnam County, Florida. Putnam County had a population of close to 75,000 back at the 2010 census. This county is located between Jacksonville, Gainesville, St. Augustine as well as Daytona Beach. The population here in Interlachen at the time of the 2000 US census was 1,475. Since then the population here has pretty much stayed at that number. There has never been a major increase or decrease in population here in this very small town in Florida. This town is part of the Palatka Micropolitan Statistical Area. One of the most interesting things about this small town is that it is named after Interlaken, Switzerland. According to the United States Census Bureau, Interlachen is a total of 6.4 square miles with about 0.6 square miles of that being water. When it comes to the weather here in Interlachen it falls under the “Humid Subtropical” category. This means that the summers will be very long, hot, oppressive as well as humid. The winters on the other hand tend to be very short, cool and pleasant. The hottest part of the year here goes from mid May until the end of September when the daily average high is just around 85 degrees. The low for this time is a comfortable 73 degrees. The coolest part of the year here goes for less than three months. From the beginning of December until almost the end of February the daily average high is just about 70 degrees. The low for this time is just about 45 degrees. So here in Interlachen, you will get to experience the beautiful weather that Florida is known for. There is zero snowfall here but frost can occur in the early morning hours during the cooler months. You will rarely see the climate here fall below freezing during the winter or go over 100 during the summer. You will see a decent amount of rainfall here per year, about 52 inches or so. An added bonus is that this portion of Florida receives more than 225 days of sunshine which is great if you like to soak up the sun.

One of the most popular places here in Interlachen is “Interlachen Lakes Estates.” Here you will find a mixture of Ranch style homes as well as mobile homes. This is a large area of the city and runs on both the north and south sides of SR 20. There is also an abundant amount of land found here for you to develop on. If you take a look through the pages above, you will see that there are large plots of land that will accommodate larger homes as well as mobile homes. It is totally up to you! Another great subdivision is “Metes & Bounds.” You will also find both mobile homes here as well as Ranch style homes. Some homes here have finished basements which adds to the overall square footage of the home. So when you factor that in, a decent amount of the houses here are over 2,000 finished square feet and very affordably priced. There are three public schools located here in Interlachen. There is the “Interlachen Elementary School” for students in Kindergarten through fifth grade. Then there is the “C.H. Price Middle School” which is for students in the sixth through eighth grade. Finally there is the “Interlachen High School” for students in grades nine through twelve.
Parks in Interlachen –
Here in Interlachen there are a few parks for you to enjoy. There is “Dowda Park” which has a picnic area as well as tennis courts. Then there is “Hastings Park” which is open from sunrise until sunset. Next there is “Lake LaGonda Park” which has a park as well as a beach. You can also fish here. “Grassy Lakes Park” is another park that is open from sunrise until sunset. Finally there is “Jenkins Park” where foot traffic is allowed all hours of the day.
