About Clearwater

Clearwater Florida is a city in Pinellas County on Florida’s Gulf coast. Clearwater has a population of just over 108,000 people and is served by two nearby airports, the Tampa International Airport and the St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport. Clearwater is one of Florida’s more popular tourist destinations, famous for its long white sandy beaches. But the city is more than just a place to get away from the cold for a week or two a year. This year Clearwater celebrating 100 years of being a municipality, and that means a long and storied history of excellence in community living.

 

Why Move Here         

Unless you absolutely hate a warm, sunny, oceanfront climate, it’s hard not to fall in love with everything Clearwater, Florida has to offer. It would be worth it to move here simply for the warm breezes, miles of white sand and clear warm blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

 

But life in Clearwater Florida it is more than just relaxing on sandy beaches. The city has invested significant funds in municipal infrastructure which makes it a great community to be immersed in. One such a venture is the Beach Walk, a $30 million redevelopment project that features a winding boardwalk surrounded by restaurants and resorts. This project earned the Award of Merit in the Great Places in Florida Public Spaces Competition.

 

Another huge community draw is Pier 60 which is popular with tourists and local residents alike. This is said to be the best place to fish in Clearwater so you’ll often find people fishing right off the pier.

 

Getting around Clearwater is affordable and easy when you use the Clearwater Jolly Trolley. More than just a tourist attraction, the trolley is an excellent means of public transportation to take you all around the city.             

 

Schools

The Pinellas County School District prides itself on its progressive and holistic approach to education. According to County School Superintendent Michael A. Grego, Ed.D, the school system provides “…a wealth of educational choices, including more than 60 application programs suited to students’ interests, talents and abilities. We offer career-focused programs and award-winning arts and music programs that prepare students to be well-rounded citizens. We also have launched several new programs, and we continue to add exciting and innovative programs based on feedback from our families.”

 

The local school system has also put in a concerted effort to increase the number of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Academies at the schools to “… better prepare students for the global demands of the 21st century.”
