The summer months tend to be very warm and dry where as the winters tend to be cool but not freezing. The hottest part of the year goes from the beginning of June and ends around mid September when the daily average high is just under 100 degrees with an average low of 82 degrees. The summers here do tend to get hot but that is to be expected in Arizona. The winters here offer up some relief from that sweltering heat. The coolest parts of the winter go from the end of November until the very end of February when the average daily high is around 73 degrees. The average low for this time of year is around 44 degrees. So, the winters here do tend to be nice and mild.

The Adobe Mountain Desert Park which is better known as “The Railroad Park” is a complex that houses the Sahuaro Central Railroad Heritage Preservation Society as well as the Sahuroa Central Railroad Museum, the Arizona Model Railroading Society and finally the Maricopa Live Steamers. This park is more than 160 acres and can be found just South of Pinnacle Peak Road on 43rd Ave in Glendale. This park is also a great place to have your child’s birthday party. There are several areas within this railroad park for you to choose from when booking your party or event. If you are looking to take a trip here, do it on a Sunday when they have free train rides. This happens throughout the year but closes during the summer months most likely due to the excessive heat.

The Glendale Chocolate Festival aka The Chocolate Affaire, is something that Glendale natives look forward to every February. This festival usually takes place right before Valentines Day and is a chocolate lovers dream. The “Cerreta Candy Company” who are very well known in the Arizona area put on the event. There are more than 40 vendors at this event and you can expect to see things like chocolate covered strawberries, s’mores, Aztec chocolate ice cream and even a deep-fried chocolate/rocky road/bacon confection. This festival also has carnival rides, face painting and a rock-climbing wall. This event is not to be missed!

Sports in Glendale
In Glendale you will find two different sporting venues. The State Farm Stadium as well as the Gila River Arena. Both venues are owned by the City of Glendale. The State Farm Stadium is home to the Arizona Cardinals which is a National Football League. This stadium is also the home of the Fiesta Bowl. This stadium has been the host to two Super Bowls. Super Bowl XLII (2008) as well as XLIX (2015). Gila River Arena is the home of the Arizona Coyotes which is part of the National Hockey League.
