Deerfield Beach is a fairly large city in Broward County on Florida’s Atlantic coast. It has a population of approximately 80,000 and is part of the greater Miami metropolitan area which combines for a population of more than six million people. The Island features a marina with six slips for boats no longer than 25 feet, a 170-foot-long intercostal dock, a half-mile Nature Trail, which includes an observation platform overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway, and picnic areas.
If you are someone who prefers your recreational activity on solid ground, there is lots to choose from with the impressive Deerfield Beach pubic parks system. The system consists of four Community Centers and 19 parks. Other top of the line Deerfield Park facilities include a state-of-the-art Aquatic Center, a Tennis Center with six lighted courts, a Middle School Athletic Complex which consists a quadplex, four baseball fields, Football/Soccer field, and a full size track. A variety of recreational, social, and cultural programs can be found at Constitution Park, Pioneer Park, Oveta McKeithen Recreational Complex, and Highlands Community Center.
No visit to Deerfield Beach would be complete without stopping in at The Deerfield Beach Arboretum. Also known as the Tree Zoo, this popular tourist destination is a nine-acre arboretum and botanical garden. It contains more than 200 different species of trees and palms from around the world, with more than 50 different species of flowering trees.
Schools in Deerfield Beach are administered by the Broward County Public School District, the sixth largest in the nation and the second largest in the state of Florida. The district oversees 236 schools and 271,000 students. Some of the highest rated Deerfield Beach schools include Deerfield Beach Elementary School, Deerfield Beach Middle School, Deerfield Beach High School, and Quiet Waters Elementary School.
