Background, General Information and Weather in Clarksville, Tennessee –
Clarksville is located in Montgomery County, Tennessee. It is also the county seat as well as the fifth largest city in the state. At the time of the 2010 census the population here was 132,929. According to a non census related poll taken in 2017, the population here in Clarksville was 153,205. Clarksville is also the principal central city of the Clarksville – Tennessee – Kentucky Metro Statistical Area. This area consists of Montgomery and Stewart Counties which are located in Tennessee as well as Christian and Trigg Counties which are in Kentucky. Clarksville was founded back in 1785 and was named after General George Rogers Clark who was the brother of William Clark of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. In 1807 this city became incorporated. According to the United States Census Bureau, Clarksville is a total of 95.5 square miles in size with only a tiny portion of that being water. When it comes to the weather here in Clarksville it falls under the category of “Humid Subtropical.” This means that the summers will be hot and often times muggy. The winters on the other hand tend to be very cold and wet. The temperature over the course of the year can range from 14 degrees during the winter all the way up to 96 during the summer. The hot season here lasts for close to four months. From the end of May until almost the end of September the daily average high is just about 81 degrees. The low for this time is just 11 degrees lower coming in at a comfortable 70 degrees. The cold season on the other hand lasts for exactly three months. From the end of November until the end of February the daily average high is just about 55 degrees. The low for this time comes in just under the freezing point at 30 degrees. Although it does get pretty cold here it does not tend to snow a lot. On average you can expect to see about four inches of snow per year here. Snow fall usually occurs here in January. The warmer months will receive a decent amount of rain. You can expect to see about 50 inches of rain per year if you live here.
