Gallatin is in Sumner County, Tennessee. It is also the county seat. The population here according to the 2010 United States Census was 30,678. Three years later a non census related survey was taken that showed that the population here had slightly increased to 32,307. As of the most recent estimate taken in late 2016 the population here had once again increased slightly to 35,734. Gallatin was named for U.S Secretary of Treasury, Albert Gallatin. This city was established on the Cumberland River and was made the county seat of Sumner County back in 1802.
