The Yukon Sweet Spot, Yukon Sweet Spot

pThe Sweet Spot, surrounded by trails and wetlands and within walking distance of the Whitehorse airport.  The cabin is built in tiny home style with two loft beds. We can comfortably accommodate a maximum of 4 quiet and easy going guests, though it is best suited for one or two. /pbrbrpPlease note that both loft sleeping areas are accessed by very steep ladders. Guests who are uncomfortable climbing can be accommodated on a large, comfortable couch in the main area. /pbrbrpA small wood stove keeps the space cozy on cold winter nights. In order to make sure our guests can continue to enjoy this feature, we reserve the right to be the keepers of the fire. We aim to have the stove lit when you arrive and do our best to respond to fire lighting requests. The space is comfortable and warm without the wood stove as well. /pbrbrpWifi is available but has its limits and guests should note that we do not provide a TV. The good news is, it's beautiful outside in all seasons and there is lots to do. There is a skating rink and basketball court in the greenbelt behind the b&b, as well as a great playground, bike jumps, pond, bigger pond (little lake) and out of this world tobogganing. We are a five minute drive to over 85km of world class, groomed XC ski trails and 15 minutes to the chairlift at Mt. Sima. The trans Canada trail runs very close by. Miles Canyon and its trails are 2km down the way. We have loaded the cabin with games, puzzles, books and art supplies. You will not be bored! And if you are lucky, the Aurora Borealis will put on a show for you. /pbrbrpOutside areas are shared with the hosts. We give our guests lots of privacy and we will be happy to see you around the firepit if the season is right,  and the burn zone is green. We are happy to share tips to help you make the most of your stay in Whitehorse and we will almost certainly show up with a treat or two. We may even have time to show you our favorite spots. Oma and Opa's Northern Lights Cabin

Our cabin is an ideal location for Northern Lights viewing in the Whitehorse area, there is no light pollution and a perfect view of the northern sky from the comfort of the cabin. Our property is surrounded by Yukon Wilderness, endless trails and nearby historic Lake Laberge. The cabin is newly constructed in 2016, private, clean and comfortable. Our place is well suited for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).brbrThis is a 2 room log cabin. There is one bedroom and full bathroom with toilet, sink, shower and heated floor. The main room contains a futon and dining table and kitchenette along one wall. It is conveniently heated with electric baseboards, so regardless of the outside temperature it is always as warm as you want it to be. We have large thoughtfully placed windows in the main room that allow for watching Northern Lights and the feeling of the outdoors inside. The kitchen is equipped with double induction cooktops, a microwave, electric kettle, toaster, coffee press, under counter refrigerator, pots and pans, dishes and flatware, and dish washing supplies. There is a bedroom with a Queen bed and in the main area there is a sofa bed which is ideal for one adult but can fit two snugly.brWireless high speed internet is available in the cabin and outside as well.brbrThe cabin is located about 100 meters from our residence. It faces north and offers privacy and a wonderful view of the Miner's Range and the mountains on the east side of Lake Labarge. Parking is directly next to the cabin. The large mowed field in front of the cabin can be used for ball games or the like, or for setting up your tripod to photograph the northern lights. There is a nice big campfire area with benches in front of the cabin for your use. Firewood is provided and there is a grill if you want to cook something over the fire.brbrWe are busy around the property most of the time and can answer questions if needed.brbrThis is a quiet rural area of mostly agricultural properties and people who love the Yukon wilderness. br5 minutes down the highway by car is Takhini Gas and Tum Tum's Butcher Shop, a gas station with small deli with excellent home cooking, locally grown food products, convenience store and showers. On our property are several other cabins nearby inhabited by local residents, a lovely community of fun people who care about each other. We feel pretty lucky to be able to live here and think our guests will enjoy the good vibe here as well.brbrWe are located 25 minutes from the Whitehorse airport by car. You need your own transportation to get to and from our place. Our driveway is directly off of the North Klondike Highway and access is easy. There is no need for 4 wheel drive, we keep the driveway plowed and the parking area.brbrWe have a large network of trails we access from our yard. We are happy to share these trails with guests but ask that you don't use motorized vehicles on them.
