Both indoors and out, this property is bound to leave a lasting impression. brbrThe outdoor setting is one of a kind, perched over a harbour waterfall, complete with a glassed sauna overlooking it all. It’s not uncommon to see eagles soaring at eye level, or breaching sea creatures beyond the harbour entrance. The steady rhythms of the tides create an ever-changing snapshot of the coast, which some guests declare as their favourite part of living in the space. The outdoors features a patio, outdoor kitchen, pizza oven, fire pit and sauna with outdoor shower. Between the seabird calls, the rush of the waterfall, or the lapping of the waves, the background soundtrack only adds to the ambience. Both sunrise and sunset play out spectacularly, with perfectly dark skies, while some lucky guests get the northern lights directly on the horizon out front. brbrThe house has been transformed from the charming coastal lore of a bootlegger’s harbour home to a couples retreat designed to harmonize with its natural surroundings. The open-concept living space features floor-to-ceiling windows, providing a seamless connection between the interior and the outdoors. Priority was granted to a spa-like bathroom, with a glass shower for two. While the house is small, it has been opened up from 4 original rooms to one large living space, transforming into the Queen sized bedroom at night with a hideaway murphy bed. It works much like a studio apartment, with epic views.brbrThe site is not shared with other houses and guests will enjoy complete use of the property to themselves. Access to the shore is a few steps further into the harbour, at the public wharf access.brbrIt’s time to wow your favourite person with a romantic getaway!Guest AccessbrThis home, sauna, and property are for the full enjoyment of the guests, and guests alone. Any areas of the yard which are maintained (grass cut, etc.) are viable for guest use. Those areas which are not maintained designate areas that guests are not safe to enjoy. Mostly those are areas near the cliff edge, on the lower terrace, and the rear of the property.brAccess to the shore is a few steps further into the harbour, at the public wharf access.brbrbrThis residence is positioned with a picturesque view of Baxters Harbour, which occasionally draws tourists to its shores. While staying on the premises, guests should be mindful that they may be visible to passersby, and thus, all interactions and conduct should be discreet. To maintain privacy, it's advisable to keep curtains closed when necessary, and guests must wear appropriate clothing at all times while in the sauna.brbrWe make our home available to others when we're not occupying it. It's not primarily our vacation rental; instead, it holds a special significance to us. We designed and built it ourselves, and it is our forever home which we are temporarily offering out. We kindly ask that you treat it as you would your own.brbrOnly about a dozen houses are located in the harbour, and we cherish our connections within this community. Please represent our home as outstanding ambassadors.brbrInstructions on using the appliances, including the pizza oven and sauna, as well as guidelines for operating the house, will be provided to you. Please acquaint yourself with these instructions if you decide to utilize these features.brbrTo make use of the small footprint, the Queen bed offered is a Murphy bed, and the living area converts into a sleeping space at night. The large glass walls become covered with curtains to ensure privacy.brbrFibre internet is provided at the house, however there is no TV. If you need screen time, please remember to bring your own device.brbrThe harbour provides opportunities to bring kayaks and stand-up paddle boards, enjoy picnics on the ocean floor, hike along the shoreline to Black Hole Harbour, venture to the base of the waterfall, and capture numerous iconic photographic moments. The surrounding region is renowned for lobster, hiking, fishing, waterfalls, wineries, artistic culture, and a plethora of exceptional dining establishments.brbrGuests wishing to honour a special occasion or wedding proposal may reach out in advance for guidance on those preparations. About this spacebrFoot of the Mountain Farmhouse is a 180 year old home at the base of the North Mountain in Sheffield Mills within a 15 minute drive to nearby towns on one side and the scenic Bay of Fundy on the other or 1hr 20 minutes to Halifax, the South Shore or Digby.brThe Farmhouse is a spacious home with 6 bedrooms, 3 baths, 2 living rooms and multiple spaces including patios on both sides for multiple families or a group of friends to gather together, use as a launchpad or find quiet spaces to unwind.brThe spacebrThe Farmhouse is a getaway location surrounded by nature, birds and the resident chipmunk, but still 15 minutes from major towns in the valley. Child and pet friendly, the home has a fenced in front yard and child accessories available (crib, high chair, stroller, baby gates and monitor). Rooms are spacious but retain original character with wide planked floors and sloped ceilings in the upstairs rooms. It is a great launch pad for attending events in the area, exploring the Annapolis Valley, or relaxing with a group of friends or family.brbrThe outdoor space is a highlight of the property. Both patios on the north and south sides are surrounded by gardens with great views. The main patio has sitting, eating and campfire areas with a rock water feature, nestled under a 200 year old Maple with a view of the riding ring and fields of the neighbouring equestrian centre. The north side faces the mountain and a family owned vineyard.brbrThe nearby towns of New Minas, Wolfville, and Kentville are a 15 minute drive in one direction; Halls Harbour, Scotts Bay and Blomidon in the other. Most immediate needs can be found in the adjacent village of Canning (4 km) which offers several options for dining in or take out, a local meat market for fresh options for the grill including local vegetables and baked goods, a grocery store including a liquor store, pharmacy, spa, art gallery and more. The Farmhouse is a short drive to many wineries, beaches, the Saltair Nordic Spa, golf courses, lobster dining, hiking sites such as Cape Split, and outdoor theatre at Ross Creek Centre for the Arts.brbrInside, a bright open kitchen is the gathering place for friends and family. The fully functional kitchen includes a microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, ice maker, a seating area and a kitchen table for morning coffee. The dining room with original floors, and a brick wall from one of the original chimneys with a built in dutch oven accommodates a large group comfortably for dining. There are two living rooms including one with a wide screen tv. Multiple bookcases throughout the home offer books and games for all age groups and interests.brbrUpstairs, there are five bedrooms, a full bath, while downstairs has an easily accessible bedroom with connecting ensuite. There is also an additional full bath/laundry room on the main floor. Recent upgrades include air conditioning in all rooms, but one (fans provided in that room), propane “wood” stove, and new windows. There are two sets of stairs going to the second floor; a standard set and the original steep back stairs common in homes of this era that should be used with caution.
