Permits are available in Baddeck. Welcome to Dragon Fly Lane  - a serene escape for both tourists and locals alike. Perfectly nestled close to the beginning of the Cabot Trail in North Gut . brbrWe are close to everything but yet you are tucked away in total privacy. It is a wonderful base to do all your sightseeing, hiking or just to relax and drink in nature . br brbrAlthough the previous owner had not finished the house , I had everything redone , updated or put in new .brThe house has a keyless lock system and you will be given the code before your arrival . Put the code in to open the door . There are 6 security cameras located all around the outside of the house . They are monitored when the house is not rented , but if there is any issue I can go back in the history to find any day in question .brbrAs you enter the house from the back door the laundry room is there , washer, dryer, ironing board , iron and Nellie's laundry soda but feel free to bring your own detergent and dryer sheets .There is no door on the room and the washer can be noisy. brBathrooms :brThe downstairs 3 piece bathroom and the upstairs 4 piece bathroom have shampoo, conditioner, and exfoliant body wash and toilet paper provided but if you prefer bring your own . There is a hairdryer in both bathrooms as well as bathmats .The towels are in each bedroom .brbrThe Bedrooms :brbrAll bedrooms have ceiling fans , blinds and black out drapes . There are extra pillows and blankets in the closets.brbrThe downstairs bedroom has a queen sized bed and is located across from the bathroom. It overlooks the back yard and hills . brbrUpstairs are two large bedrooms ,brThe back bedroom overlooks the driveway and the hills . It has 2 single beds and 1 double bed . There is a desk and chair by the window for natural light if you want to work . brThe front bedroom has two queen sized beds and a deck that is a wonderful place to start your day with a beautiful sunrise ( usually very colorful ) or at night check out the stars ! brbr The kitchen has modern appliances, French door fridge, electric stove, dishwasher . It is fully stocked with dishes and cutlery ,coffee machine, toaster , kettle ,hand mixer , pots and pans, some baking pans , dish clothes and towels , dish soap . We do not use paper towels so if you want them you should bring them . We do have reusable wipe clothes that are washed and disinfected after each use . There is also a bar table and 2 chairs .brbrThe dining room:brHas a large table with 6 chairs and 2 benches that will seat 10 people . There are placemats provided for the table .brbrThe living room:brThere is a smart TV . There is no cable or satellite tv. Netflix is available . There is also high speed fibre op for streaming or if you are working on your computer .brbrThe basement is locked and for the owners use only .brbrOutside :brbrThere is a barbeque on the back deck . There are a couple of tables and chairs outside if you wish to eat in the fresh air .There is a seating area with a firepit . Depending on the fire index outside fires maybe banned . You will be told if that is in place . There is a path to the shore where you can walk along and see what has washed up , go for a dip or just enjoy the sounds of the water . brbrHere are some highlights to plan your trip from Dragon Fly Lane . . . brThe Gaelic College is about 2 kms away and you can see it across the water from the house so it very convenient for attending the school or any events . During the summer they have music at noon some evenings . Check with them for their schedule .brEnglishtown is located about 15 minutes away off the TCH 105 at Exit 12 . You can use that exit if you are going to Ingonish via the Englishtown Ferry . It is about a 2 minute load and go 12-15 car ferry that is free and no reservations are needed . Interested in a boat tour and seeing Puffins, Donelda's Puffin Boat Tours is located just before the ferry , same Donelda that is your hostess !br It is approx. 45 minutes ( if you have to wait for the ferry that increases the time ) to Ingonish where there are great beaches, golfing, the only Gondola located at Ski Cape Smokey and amazing scenery . You can turn right when you come out of our driveway and follow the Cabot Trail to Ingonish .br We are about 20 minutes to Baddeck, where you can visit Alexander Graham Bell Museum , lots of great shops , take a stroll on the waterfront or enjoy a great meal in one of the many eateries . Just outside of the village is Usigh a Ban Falls which is a great for a picnic or you can do the hike .brSydney is about an hours drive where the cruise ships dock at the Big Fiddle . Louisbourg is about an 1.5 drive where you can enjoy a step back in time visiting the Fortress . brbrThe property has a peacefulness about it even if you should hear a truck or airplane . Take a stroll to the shore , sit on one of the 3 decks and enjoy your morning coffee, read a book or just drink in the beauty .If you're lucky you'll see dragonflies !brbrThings to know : br1. We do not refund if you do not show up on the day your stay starts or chose to leave early .br2.There is no smoking or any kind allowed in the house . If so there will be a $250.00 charge br added to your credit card for deep cleaning .br3.There are no parties allowed on the property .br4. If there is any damage done to the house/property it will be billed to your credit card .br5. We are on a dug well and have a filtering UV system but you might prefer to bring your own br drinking water .br6. We are surrounded by nature and with that comes mosquitoes and black flies so a repentant might be helpful.br7. The house is completely cleaned after each visitor leaves . It is not uncommon to see a house br fly , spider etc after the cleaning , it's nature .br8. There is no daily cleaning or restocking during a stay .br9. We recycle paper , plastic , cans and food . Check the binder for a list of how it is sorted .br10. Do not use facecloths or towels to remove makeup .If the stains cannot be removed they will br be billed to your credit card brbrbrCheck out :brKitchen All dishes ,pot's and pans are to be done, garbage gathered and put in the outside box .brBedrooms , Please check all closets , drawers rooms to ensure that you have all your belonging .brMake sure that all lights and water faucets are turned off .All windows and doors are closed .brBathrooms Please put all used towels facecloths and bathmats in the laundry baskets.

This beautiful log cabin is on the Bras d'Or Lake - ideal for relaxing on the dock to watch the sunsets, or to go swimming, fishing, kayaking, or snowshoeing. Cabin includes a firepit, with lots of seating, some fishing equipment, 2 kayaks, water mat and outdoor games. The cabin has various artistic designs, such as a sea glass backsplash, a hand laid stone fireplace and pine handrails with pennies inserted on a custom staircase to the loft, and many other unique features to discover. A fully functional kitchen with a large island and kitchen table/chairs. It also includes two sinks, a 6 burner stove with grill, two ovens, microwave and dishwasher. As well as a coffee and milkshake machine. Laundry facilities available. The cabin also includes a master bedroom (king bed) with an ensuite - soaker tub and full shower with waterfall head and body jets. Patio doors exit out to the hot tub and 3 sided deck. The second bedroom has a queen size bed with patio doors that exit out to the deck, facing the water. The third bedroom on the main floor has a queen size bed. There are two other queen size beds located in the loft, in ship type cubbies, perfect for a cozy retreat. The loft also includes seating area, many board/card games and a table top Ms Packman/Galaga game, where guests can unwind after a day of exploring. The cabin is ideally located - 5 minutes to the Cabot Trail, Cape Breton Highlands, and the beautiful quaint village of Baddeck. This cabin is ideal for making your holidays one to remember.
