Paros, Paros, Greece

A spacious and welcoming villa with large infinity pool, wide-open sea views and terraces galore.brbrClose to all that's best about northern Paros, from beaches to picturesque towns and villages, Phaedra has an easy-going soul and a warmth of spirit. Its generously proportioned, versatile interiors spill outside at every opportunity, tempting guests to make the very most of the 15m-long infinity pool and the well-equipped, well-designed al fresco spaces. Life at Phaedra is simple, practical and carefree.brbrInside: accommodation at Phaedra is spread over three floors of a main house and an externally accessed guest suite.brbrThe front door of the main house opens to reveal a splendidly well-proportioned open-plan communal area on two levels. Down a couple of steps to the left is the living area, with two comfy sofas flanking a fireplace, while to the right is the well-equipped kitchen with central island and the panoramic dining area. White-washed stone walls, lofty wood-beamed ceilings and multiple windows create a bright, airy atmosphere, while a series of glass doors allow the space to flow outside seamlessly. Here and there, particularly where the light fixtures are concerned, the décor hints at the owners travels in North Africa but homage is also made to classic Cycladic design.brbrA few steps to one side of the kitchen lead up onto a corridor, off which the rest of the house is accessed. To one side is a shower room serving a luminous, triple-aspect double bedroom with terrace access, while to the other a staircase leads up and down to the first and lower floors.brbrThe first floor is home to the main bedroom, a double with walk-through open en-suite shower room, fabulous sea views and access to a panoramic terrace.brbrThe lower floor, meanwhile, hosts an extremely large double-twin bedroom with en-suite shower room.brbrThe guesthouse suite is accessed from a lower terrace and comprises a sea-view living area with L-shaped sofa, a kitchen corner, a double bedroom and an separate shower room. A feature of this space are the wood and cane beamed ceilings.brbrOutside: the ground floor of Phaedra flows out onto a wonderful sweep of sea-view terrace. The focal point is the 15m-long L-shaped infinity pool, which offers swimmers great views out to sea and across to Naxos. Echoing the dimensions of, and flanking the pool is a large covered section of terrace, which comes with well-cushioned built-in seating, easy chairs, a dining table, and a kitchen-bar with island work space, a fridge, a sink, a barbecue and a wood-burning oven. This is the perfect spot for those who love to cook al fresco while looking out to sea.brbrSteps at the end of the pool lead down to another swathe of terrace, part of which, outside the guest suite, is covered and furnished with comfy outdoor furniture.brbrLast, but not least (for those lucky enough to occupy the main bedroom) is the large terrace on the first floor, from where vast vistas pan out over the north of Paros and across the sea to Naxos.brbrPhaedra features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views while in the pool. There is a drop off the infinity side so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools.brbrYou may also wish to know that the pool has a minimum depth of 30cm.brbrDue to the nature of the property including terraces low walls and several drops around the grounds, children must be supervised at all times.brbrThe number of steps that must be negotiated to get into and/or around this property might make it unsuitable for people with mobility problems.brbrPlease note that the private driveway up to Phaedra, while paved, is quite steep.brPhaedra rises in a panoramic position above the northeast coast of Paros, just a short drive from the beach and tavernas of Ampelas. Other beaches nearby include those of Damuli, Skalakia and Tsoulakia, all between 5 and 10 minutes away. brbrFor many people, Paros is the most authentic of the Cyclades. One of the larger islands, it has something for everyone, young or old, party-goers or culture-seekers, bourgeois or bohemian. Amongst its many attractions are buzzing little towns, myriad beaches, world-famous windsurfing conditions, gourmet restaurants, sleepy traditional villages with waterfront fish tavernas, religious, cultural and historical sites, and a vibrant nightlife scene.brbrThanks to the relatively limited distances involved - the island measures less than 25km from north to south - it is easy to explore in full in a week or two, no matter where you're staying. Its mountainous hinterland, with peaks rising up to around 700m, is dotted with the occasional monastery and crisscrossed by old mule tracks. Down on the coast, meanwhile, there is an array of beautiful sandy beaches and idyllic coves, and a day or two spent on a boat exploring these is heartily recommended.brbrIn terms of towns and villages, picturesque Naousa, sleepy Marpissa, and buzzing Parikia (the capital and main port) are just a 10-, 15- and 20-minute drive away respectively. The former boasts a little harbour, a web of narrow streets flanked by shops and tavernas, and the remains of a Venetian castle. The second is a white-washed beauty that appears unchanged for centuries. It’s a pleasure to amble round its narrow streets, while a walk up to the monastery of St Anthony on the hill above offers spectacular views of the island. The third, meanwhile, is a vibrant little town gathered around a semi-enclosed bay that woos visitors with its sandy beaches, its many bars and tavernas, its archaeological museum, and its impressive Byzantine Church.brbrJust across the bay from Naousa is idyllic Kolimpithres beach, renowned for its transparent waters and fascinating rock formations, while for those with an interest in history, a visit to the Mycenaean Acropolis is called for. Sitting atop a rocky scarp high above Kolimpithres, it was built way back in the 13th century BCE and offers not only insights into Paros's long history but also stunning views. It’s quite a walk to get up there, so you may wish to tackle it in the early morning or late afternoon when it’s not so hot.brbrParos's most northerly tip, the Monastiri peninsula is also within easy striking distance. A protected park covering some 80 hectares of rocky, element-sculpted hills, hidden sandy beaches, walking trails, and undisturbed flora and fauna, it’s a great day out for nature lovers and hikers with the added bonus of an end-of-excursion swim in the sea.brbrCultural tours are readily available on Paros, so not matter whether you wish to learn about Parikia's old town centre, the ancient marble quarries, or the unique island of Despotiko, you'll be able to delve into the island's history with ease. Children are well catered for too, and a trip to the butterfly nature reserve just north of the airport is good fun.brbrIf all that wasn't enough, Paros's little sister, Antiparos, is just a 10-minute ferry ride across the water from nearby Pounta, making a little island hopping eminently possible.brbrArrival details will be confirmed by The Thinking Traveller after your villa is confirmed.brbrThe Thinking Traveller can organise transfers and car hire and an agent will be in touch with you once your villa is confirmed.

Villa

Yvoni - Nine Bedroom Villa, Sleeps 18

Paros, Paros, Greece

An airy waterfront villa offering superb sea views, bags of outdoor space, a fabulous infinity pool and beautifully finished interiors.brbrA modern take on classic Greek summer houses, the two villas that make up Yvoni subtly blend traditional architectural features with 21st-century styling to create a harmonious, uplifting ambience for large groups of family or friends. Well-shaded terraces offer everything required for carefree outdoor living, and a gate at the bottom of the garden entices guests to stroll down to the pebbly-sandy beaches that run along the coast of Soros.brbrInside: accommodation at Yvoni is spread over two separate houses. In terms of layout (three floors), décor and styling, they are almost identical.brbrThe first house:brbrThe main entrance of the first house takes one into a landing off which all the accommodation flows. A few steps down leads into a luminous open-plan space that's home to a sitting area, a dining table, and a well-equipped modern kitchen with central island and access to the outdoor dining area. White-washed wood-beamed ceilings and pearly white-painted walls hint at traditional Greek island architectural traditions, while two sets of French windows opening out onto a shaded sea-view terrace cater to a more contemporary lifestyle. A designer daybed is placed next to the fireplace, opposite which is a comfortably cushioned built-in sofa. Windows on either side drink in the views and the light, and the atmosphere is summery and energising. brbrBack on the landing by the main entrance, a door opens into the first bedroom, a spacious double with en-suite shower room. brbrReturning to the landing once more, a flight of stairs leads up to the first floor, which is completely given over to the main bedroom, a good-sized double with an en-suite shower room and doors opening out onto a fabulous sea-view terrace.brbrThe remaining accommodation in the main house is found on the lower ground floor, accessed via stairs from the landing by the main entrance or from the terraces below. Here there arebrbr• two double-twin rooms, each with a double and a single bed and an en-suite shower roombr• a large games room with table tennis table, a couple of sofas, a TV with surround sound, and access to the terracesbrbrThe second house:brbrAs mentioned above, the second house is almost identical to the first, with the exception of the lower ground floor.brbrIn brief, on the ground floor there’s a bright sea-view living and dining area with French doors opening out onto the terraces, and a well-equipped contemporary kitchen with island. brbrUp a few steps from here is the first bedroom, a double with en-suite shower room. brbrThe first floor is home the main bedroom, a double with en-suite shower room and access to a large sea-view terrace.brbrThe lower floor, accessed via a staircase from the living and dining area, comprises:brbr• a double bedroom with en-suite shower roombr• a double-twin bedroom, also with en-suite shower roombr• a TV/cinema room (down a few steps from the two bedrooms) furnished with an extra-large L-shaped sofa, a wide-screen TV and a bar-kitchenettebr• a second double bedroom, accessed from the TV/cinema room, with en-suite shower room and doors opening out onto the terracesbrbrOutside: wide-expanses of sea-view terraces, both shady and sun-kissed, fan out around and between the two houses, offering numerous options for al fresco living and plenty of space for guests to spread out.brbrThe first house:brbrTwo sets of French doors in the living area open out onto a shady, comfortably furnished panoramic terrace looking out to sea. A third door accesses another covered sitting area furnished with a pair of large built-in sofas.brbrAccessed from the kitchen, meanwhile, is a wonderfully secluded and sheltered terrace with two tables (large enough to accommodate guests from both houses), a long, L-shaped sitting area scattered with cushions, and plenty of chairs. Served by a barbecue, a wood-fired oven, hobs, a sink and everything else you could need to rustle up lunches and dinners, this is a delightfully convivial spot in which to come together for memorable feasts. br brJust in front of this area is a wonderfully panoramic heatable plunge pool.brbrFrom the main terrace running in front of the house, meanwhile, a few steps lead down to a 14m-long infinity pool, which offers more of those enchanting views out to sea. brbrCrossing the terrace between the two Yvonis is a fabulously convivial sunken communal area with well-cushioned, in-built seating surrounding a wide coffee table and a fire-pit. This is where all guests can come together for pre- or post-prandial drinks, an extremely effective way of uniting the two houses.brbrThe second house:brbrIn terms of outdoor space, the second house is similar to the first, and offers a selection of sea-view sitting areas accessed from the ground floor rooms. The main focal point is to the side, where, accessed from the kitchen, is an extremely spacious shady al fresco dining and lounge area and an outdoor kitchen with barbecue.brbrA few steps towards the sea is the multi-angular infinity pool, which comes with a children’s shallow end.brbrThe beach access:brbrWhere Yvoni's terraces end, steps lead down to a path that weaves through the garden of low-lying aromatic Mediterranean shrubs to the sea gate, from where, it's just a 150m stroll to the closest sandy-pebbly beach.brbrYvoni features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views while in the pool. There is a drop off the infinity side so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools.brbrDue to the nature of the property, including terraces low walls and several drops around the grounds, children must be supervised at all times.brbrAs this villa is located on an island, we recommend extra caution when booking your flights to avoid problems or delays with ferries and hydrofoils. It may be advisable to arrive a day earlier and depart a day later. Please contact us for any information or advice.brbrThe final section of the access road to Yvoni is a little rough, so we recommend guests hire a 4x4 or a car with high ground clearance.brYvoni is located in the southeast of Antiparos, just a stroll from the sandy beaches of Soros. The island’s diminutive size means that you’re never far from its treasures, both natural and man-made, and it’s easy to explore in a week. brbrWith 60km of coastline, Antiparos offers an abundance of idyllic beaches and many of these are very close to Yvoni. Apart from Soros below the house, two of the most beguiling beaches are Agios Sostis and Faneromeni, little bays on the southernmost tip of the island. Slightly further afield, in the southwest, is the bay of Agios Georgios, whose turquoise waters are a great starting point for kayaking excursions to the little islet of Despotiko. brbrTypical of the Cyclades, the landscape of Antiparos is dotted with small whitewashed churches and traditional cottages, and carpeted with aromatic Mediterranean shrubs and wild herbs. The south of the island is hilly and there is some rewarding walking to be had, thanks to the wonderful 360-degree panoramas from vantage points such as the Prophet Elias church.brbrThe main town, Antiparos Port, is archetypally Greek, with narrow pedestrianised alleyways and picturesque squares flanked by independent little shops and pretty white houses with blossom-filled courtyards. At its centre are the remains of the Kastro, a Venetian castle built in 1440 to protect the island’s inhabitants from pirates and other would-be invaders. Around the harbour is a good selection of traditional tavernas and cafés, and it is very pleasant to while away a little time there, watching island life unfold. In the evening, the main square comes alive as traditional coffee shops and chic bars fill up. brbrJust in the hills behind Yvoni is the island’s fascinating cave, whose extremely impressive stalactites and stalagmites are thought to be amongst the oldest in Europe. With a depth of around 85m (there are 411 steps down to the bottom), it is an inspiring place to explore, especially if you think of all those who have been there before you, including Macedonian generals fleeing the wrath of Alexander the Great, Otto, the first King of Greece, and even (so it is said) Lord Byron. brbrLast but not least, Paros is just a 10-minute ferry ride from Antiparos Port, meaning that island-hopping day trips there are eminently feasible.brbrArrival details will be confirmed by The Thinking Traveller after your villa is confirmed.brbrThe Thinking Traveller can organise transfers and car hire and an agent will be in touch with you once your villa is confirmed.

Marike - Five Bedroom Villa, Sleeps 10

Paros, Paros, Greece

Cool, uncluttered interiors, extensive sun-soaked terraces, sheltered outdoor rooms, fragrant gardens and serene sea views.brbrMarike is an artfully conceived contemporary Cycladic home that fuses minimalist modern aesthetics and traditional architectural know-how to produce a home that is perfectly at one with its habitat and fully in tune with Paros's summer climate of sunshine and Meltemi winds. With beauty, both natural and man-made, all around, you can sit back, relax and lose yourself in the magic.brbrInside: accommodation at Marike is laid out over two floors. In terms of design, it offers well-thought-out spaces, consistency, both in terms of style and materials, and a light, uncluttered sense of roominess. brbrThe main entrance leads from a walled courtyard into a hallway, whose twin sets of French windows look out towards the pool and the sea beyond. To the right is the communal heart of the home, a generously proportioned open-concept space incorporating a well-equipped modern kitchen with bespoke wooden cabinetry, a dining table, and, down a step, a commodious living area, furnished with a large white corner sofa and a TV sitting next to a decorative fireplace. Raw cement ceilings add a splash of modernity, smooth grey floor tiles bring warmth, white walls reflect the light, and wide sliding glass doors provide easy access to the terraces and the pool area.brbrNext to the kitchen is a guest WC and stairs leading up to the first floor, which is entirely given over to the main bedroom, a spacious double with white-washed wood-beamed ceilings, a large en-suite shower room, featuring hand-crafted geometric tiles, and access to a stupendously panoramic sea-view terrace. brbrBack on the ground floor, accessed from the hallway, are two more luminous bedrooms, a double-twin and a double sharing a shower room. Both have access to the sea-facing terraces and pool area.brbrThe remaining two double bedrooms at Marike are accessed externally, the first from the walled courtyard by the main entrance, the second from a rear garden terrace. The former has its own shaded patio, both have en-suite shower rooms. brbrOutside: all the rooms at Marike flow out onto wrap-around terraces, and there's plenty of space both for convivial gatherings and solitary pursuits. The extensive main terrace looks out across the gardens to the sea and is accessed from the living area and two of the ground floor bedrooms. Pride of place is given to the lovely swimming pool, which is served by a shaded panoramic pavilion built from stone and wood and furnished with cushioned in-built seating and a couple of easy chairs. brbrA few steps back from here, nestling by the side of the house, but still offering sea views, is what could be described as an outdoor room. Sheltered by high stone walls and shaded by a wooden roof and sails, this space is a refuge from the sun and summer winds and a most convivial spot in which to spend time cooking - there's an outdoor kitchen area with large barbecue grill, worktops and sink - and dining.brbrThe bedroom accessed from the walled courtyard has its own shady sitting area with views out to sea, and the main room on the top floor has a fantastically panoramic private terrace offering views across the sea to Antiparos. brbrThe terraces are enveloped in a cocoon of aromatic fragrance and bustling bloom. Low-lying shrubs, herbs and grasses proliferate in a colourful display of plenty. Olive trees dot green lawns and sun-baked earth, and exotic palm trees sway to the gentle rhythms of the sea breezes.brbrAt night, the gardens and terraces are illuminated to create a magical, warm atmosphere in which to while away lazy evenings in the company of your loved ones.brbrDue to the nature of the property including terraces low walls and several drops around the grounds, children must be supervised at all times.brbrBecause of natural changes to the coastline from season to season, the pebbly beach below this property may not look as it does in the photos. Please also note that access to the sea across the pebbles may not be easy for those with limited mobility. In any case, we recommend wearing sea shoes.brbrThe villa is located in close proximity to Paros Airport, and during high season — especially on weekends — the sound of incoming flights can occasionally be heard as they land nearby.brMarike is situated on the southwest coast of Paros looking out over the sea to Antiparos. The nearest village, Aliki, is just three kilometres away, and offers most day-to-day amenities, including mini-markets and tavernas.brbrFor many people, Paros is the most authentic of the Cyclades. Down on the coast, meanwhile, there is an array of beautiful sandy beaches and idyllic coves, and a day or two spent on a boat exploring these is heartily recommended.brbrIn terms of towns and villages, sleepy Marpissa, buzzing Parikia (the capital and main port), are just a, 20- and a 25-minute drive from Marike. The first is a white-washed beauty that appears unchanged for centuries. It’s a pleasure to amble round its narrow streets, while a walk up to the monastery of St Anthony on the hill above offers spectacular views of the island. The second is a vibrant little town gathered around a semi-enclosed bay that woos visitors with its sandy beaches, its many bars and tavernas, its archaeological museum, and its impressive Byzantine Church. brbrIn the north of the island is the picturesque village Naousa, whose little harbour, web of narrow streets flanked by shops and tavernas, and Venetian castle make it a pleasure to spend time in. Just across the bay from Naousa is idyllic Kolimpithres beach, renowned for its transparent waters and fascinating rock formations, while for those with an interest in history, a visit to the Mycenaean Acropolis is called for. It’s quite a walk to get up there, so you may wish to tackle it in the early morning or late afternoon when it’s not so hot.brbrParos's most northerly tip, the Monastiri peninsula, is given over to a protected park covering some 80 hectares of rocky, element-sculpted hills, hidden sandy beaches, walking trails, and undisturbed flora and fauna. It’s a great day out for nature lovers and hikers with the added bonus of an end-of-excursion swim in the sea.brbrCultural tours are readily available on Paros, so not matter whether you wish to learn about Parikia's old town centre, the ancient marble quarries, or the unique island of Despotiko, you'll be able to delve into the island's history with ease.

White-painted walls and ceilings and polished concrete floors in an earthy hue combine to create a luminous, airy feel that is replicated throughout the property.brbrA wide arch near the dining table leads through to the well-equipped country style kitchen, with white-slatted cabinetry, olive green beams (another design motif found in other rooms), a range cooker, a central island, and doors opening out onto both the front and the side terrace. brbrAn archway to the left of the living area leads in to the sleeping wing of the main house, which is home to:brbr• the main bedroom, a split-level double (the bed is up a couple of steps on a raised ledge) with sea views, terrace access, and an en-suite shower roombr• a triple children's room with a single bed, built-in bunks, garden views and accessbr• a shared shower roombrbrBetween these two bedrooms, a flight of stairs leads down to the lower ground floor level, where there is:brbr• a good-sized double bedroom with en-suite shower roombr• a cosy TV room with a pair of comfy sofas and a large TVbrbrThe first guesthouse is situated just a few steps across a shady terrace from the main house's kitchen and comprises two double bedrooms, each with external access, and a large shower room equipped for disabled guests.brbrA few steps away from here is the second guesthouse, which has a small double bedroom with en-suite shower room on the ground floor and, on the first floor accessed via external steps, a double bedroom with sea-views, an en-suite shower room and a super-panoramic private shaded terrace.brbrOutside: terraces wrap around and between the main house and the guesthouses, creating a continuum of al fresco spaces for guests to explore. There are sun-soaked and shady areas, places for convivial gatherings and quiet spots for more solitary pursuits, such as reading or snoozing in the afternoon breeze.brbrPaved in soft grey stone, the main terrace is situated on the sea-facing side of the property. Transfixing views look down over Chrisi Akti (Golden Beach) and take in the twin islands of Drionisi and Makronisi, and, across the sparkling azure Aegean, the island of Naxos. brbrAccessed from the main house's living and dining area is a cane-shaded pergola furnished with comfily cushioned rattan armchairs.brbrA couple of steps down from here is a stunning 20m-long infinity pool, which also features a curvaceous beach-effect shallow end, perfect for young children or those who want to feel both the warmth of the sun and the refreshing coolness of the water.brbrTo one end of the pool, meanwhile, is a large sheltered and shaded section of terrace given over to gastronomic pursuits - its fabulous al fresco kitchen, equipped with a wood-burning pizza oven, a super-size built-in barbecue, a sink and plenty of workspace, serves a sea-view dining table. This is a wonderful spot in which to share lazy lunches and long star-lit dinners with your loved ones.brbrAll the ground floor bedrooms at Thekla open out on to the terraces, either to the front or the side, while the first floor bedroom in the second guesthouse has a private, super panoramic terrace all to itself. brbrWhere the terraces end, the grounds begin, mainly planted with low-lying Mediterranean shrubs and olive trees. brbrThe final section of the access road to Thekla is unpaved and rough, so we recommend guests hire a 4x4 or at least a car with good ground clearance.brbrThekla features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views while in the pool. There is a drop off the infinity side so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools.brbrDue to the nature of the property including terraces low walls and several drops around the grounds, children must be supervised at all times.brThekla looks out over the southeast coast of Paros, just a few minutes’ drive from the glorious sandy bay of Chrisi Akti (Golden Beach).brbrWithin an easy drive are a selection of bars and tavernas, a minimarket and a well-known surf school and diving centre. Apart from the golden sands of Christi Akti, there are plenty more beaches to try within an easy drive up or down the coast, including those at Logaros, Drios, Lolantonis, Glifa and Kalogeros, which has a healing mud bath.brbrFor many people, Paros is the most authentic of the Cyclades. Down on the coast, meanwhile, there is an array of beautiful sandy beaches and idyllic coves, and a day or two spent on a boat exploring these is heartily recommended.brbrIn terms of towns and villages, sleepy Marpissa, buzzing Parikia (the capital and main port), and dreamy Lefkes are just a, 20-, a 25-, and a 30-minute drive from Thekla. The third is great for walkers, thanks to a beautiful 4km-long Byzantine trail that leads over a hill to Prodromos village on the other side. Also nearby is the harbour village of Piso Livadi (popular for its fish restaurants) and, on the south coast, Aliki, which has a yachting marina and port for day cruises to Antiparos and other neighbouring islands.brbrIn the north of the island is the picturesque village Naousa, whose little harbour, web of narrow streets flanked by shops and tavernas, and Venetian castle make it a pleasure to spend time in. Just across the bay from Naousa is idyllic Kolimpithres beach, renowned for its transparent waters and fascinating rock formations, while for those with an interest in history, a visit to the Mycenaean Acropolis is called for. Sitting atop a rocky scarp high above Kolimpithres, it was built way back in the 13th century BCE and offers not only insights into Paros's long history but also stunning views. It’s a great day out for nature lovers and hikers with the added bonus of an end-of-excursion swim in the sea. brbrCultural tours are readily available on Paros, so not matter whether you wish to learn about Parikia's old town centre, the ancient marble quarries, or the unique island of Despotiko, you'll be able to delve into the island's history with ease.

Amira - Seven Bedroom Villa, Sleeps 14

Paros, Paros, Greece

Rising discreetly on Paros's northeastern peninsula, and boasting 360-degree views of the sea and the surrounding landscape, Amira is a subtle ode to contemporary Cycladic living. Luminous, uncluttered interiors flow out organically onto shady, wrap-around terraces that culminate in a supremely convivial, gorgeously furnished central hub. An infinity pool adds to the allure, as does the fact that sandy beaches and a taverna are just a short walk away.brbrAccommodation at Amira is laid out over two wings, north and south, facing each other across a central terrace. Both are on two levels.brbrInside the south wing: on entering the south wing, one is immediately struck by the luminosity, the sense of open space, and the minimalist atmosphere of serenity. Creamy white walls and light sandy floors link the various areas in a homogeneous uniformity, while a mix of raw concrete and painted ceilings adds variety and interest.brbrImmediately to the right of the main entrance is an all-white, well-equipped contemporary kitchen, whose banks of discreet cabinetry keep things uncluttered.brbrTo the left of the kitchen is an open-concept room with a dining table and chairs to one side, and a living area with sofas to the other. Four sets of French windows on opposite walls bring in the views, while a third wall of floor-to-ceiling sliding glass opens up entirely to allow the space to flow seamlessly onto the central terrace between the two wings of the property.brbrMoving right from the kitchen, a corridor leads to a guest shower room and the first bedroom, a double with en-suite shower room, sea views, and French doors opening out onto the surrounding terraces.brbrStairs opposite the kitchen lead down to the south wing’s lower floor, which is home to:brbr• two double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms and light wells planted with exotic greenerybr• a large social space with a sofa and a sleek kitchen corner with a large fridgebrbrInside the north wing: the north wing, which faces its southern counterpart across the aforementioned central terrace, is accessed via a wall of floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors or by its own front door.brbrOn the ground floor is a living area, a little kitchen area hidden away in a cupboard, and three bedrooms:brbr• two doubles with sea views and terrace access sharing a shower roombr• another double with a walk-through wardrobe, an en-suite shower room, sea views, and access to terraces on both sides of the housebrbrThe lower floor of the north wing, meanwhile, is given over to:brbr• a suite with a double bed, a well-cushioned sofa, a kitchen corner, an en-suite shower room and a wall of sliding glass doors accessing a private sunken terrace with gently sloping steps leading past a shrubbery up to the gardens br• a well-equipped gym roombrbrOutside: al fresco living at Amira is as easy and as pleasurable as it gets. Terraces wrap around and between the two wings of the house, and the interiors spill outside at every opportunity. White slatted structures run the full length of the house on either side, providing an abundance of shade throughout the day, and views pan out, east and west, always looking to the azure waters that lap either side of the peninsula on which Amira rises.brbrBetween the two wings is a contemporary agora, a fabulously well-furnished, sociable space where guests can meet up to enjoy convivial moments. To one side is a sitting area with a voluminous, L-shaped sofa, day beds and easy chairs; to the other is a long dining table that’s served by a shady barbecue area with an expanse of well-cushioned built-in seating.brbrAll the rooms on the ground floor of the two wings open out onto the terraces, which are dotted with comfy chairs and sun loungers, meaning that everyone can find their own spot in which to read, snooze, or simply gaze at the views. The lower-floor bedroom in the north wing has its own secluded, sunken terrace. brbrA step from the central terrace leads down to the inviting pool, which has infinity edges on two sides, and more of those gentle views out to sea. To one side, a little army of quality sun loungers is lined up ready for action (or, rather, inaction).brbrThe two-acre grounds, which are planted with low-lying shrubbery and fragrant herbs, envelop the terraces, never obstructing the views, but providing a gentle, soft backdrop to the overall scene.brbrAmira features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views while in the pool. There is a drop off the infinity sides so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools.brbrPlease note also that the pool has a single depth of 1.5m.brbrDue to the nature of the property, including terraces, low walls and several drops around the extensive grounds, children should be supervised at all times.brbrThe final section of the access road to Amira is a little rough, so we recommend guests hire a 4x4 or one with high ground clearance.brAmira rises on the Paros's northeaster peninsula, just a few hundred metres from a couple of divine sandy beaches, including Santa Maria, and a taverna. It is also extremely well located for exploring the north of the island, which has plenty to offer.brbrFor many people, Paros is the most authentic of the Cyclades.
