Just 5 to 10 minutes stroll to Swanage's Blue Flag Award Winning Beach, Victorian Pier, the wonderful Steam Railway, art galleries, restaurants, bars and pubs, we are letting our much loved home, over the summer holidays. brbrFive to 10 minutes walk from the front door will bring you to the Townsend Nature Reserve and on to Durlston National Park, renowned as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, leading to the Jurassic Coast Cliff Walks, Durlston Castle and the Lighthouse. brbrWe have 3 bedrooms, 2 bright double bedrooms (one with fabulous view of Swanage Bay and Purbeck Hills) both with vanity units and the smaller third with full sized bunk beds with view of Swanage Bay and the Purbeck Hills. There is an open plan large kitchen/diner/family room with double doors leading to balcony and further views of Swanage Bay and Purbeck Hills. Stairs leading down to landscaped garden with covered seating area, barbeque and raised pond.brCosy adult’s lounge to relax in, when younger ones are sleeping, with 50 inch TV and adults’ dining area. In the large open plan kitchen/family room there is a Large 50 inch flat screen TV. A Large Range Cooker and 5 ring hob and washing machine. Fully tiled bathroom with power shower over bath, wash basin and toilet. Separate Toilet and wash basin upstairs. Linens and Towels provided (for use on the premises only). brbrOff road parking, side gate leading to secure covered area for bicycles/ hiking equipment etc.brbrA truly fabulously convenient location just a 10 minute walk from all the attractions and conveniences our stunning seaside town has to offer, whilst being away from the bustle of the town.brbrAvailable are various boat trips to Brownsea Island, Poole, around local shoreline I.e Old Harry Rocks, Fishing trips, both local mackerel fishing and further out to sea day hires etc. Various Diving Schools at the Pier.brExtremely good (so we are told) and picturesque Purbeck Golf Club which is open to the public, there are other golf clubs in the area also open to the public. For the lesser experienced golfers there is crazy golf for the kids in the town centre.brbrArea is extremely popular with mountain bikers, there is a really good bicycle shop literally round the corner, they are very involved in all local bike events,. They hire bikes out and have a workshop team to fix all levels of bike. brbrLocal convenience shop only 2 minutes down the road open early until late 7 days a week. brbrLocation! We are in the middle of Purbeck's Jurassic Coast, a listed area of Natural Outstanding Beauty. Everything on your doorstep from Townsend Nature Reserve (5 minutes up the hill) to Durlston Head where the magnificent lighthouse is situated, then you can either take the coastal path to Dancing Ledge and on to Worth Matravers where you will find the famous Square and Compass pub, this is a truly unspoiled traditional pub overlooking the sea, it is very rustic with a serving hatch, barrels of beer behind hatch, a wide cider menu, pasties on a paper plate only food available. There are no fruit machines, pool table, tv's, juke boxes! It also has a Fossil Museum.brbrAnother lovely place to visit is the Scott Arms at Kingston with its stunning garden views over Corfe Castle, they have a good food reputation and also often have an outside Jerk Shack food bar.brbrThere is of course Corfe Castle itself, you can take the Swanage Steam Train to this.brNear by there are also Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove to visit.brbrIf you turn left from the lighthouse towards Durlston Castle then it will take you back into Swanage via The Downs.brbrIf you travel further towards Sandbanks through Studland there are miles of quiet unspoilt National Trust beaches.brYou can also travel on to Sandbanks, Poole and Bournmouth via the Chain Ferry. brAn absolutely fabulous place to have a meal or a glass of wine is Shell Bay Restaurant and Bar, next to the ferry - it offers amazing views (see photo).brbrOur home has great views over the Bay and of the Purbeck Hills and is close walking distance to Swanage, you won't necessarily need to take the car.brbrOur home is just off the High St so you don't get the late night noises of people 'strolling home'.brbrTwo minutes down the road is our wonderful local pub/restaurant (The Black Swan) which serves delicious food (although it is best to book as they get very busy). Also to be found is a very good Chinese take away just around the corner.brbrThere are of course a choice of fish and chips shops.brbrThere is also a lovely old stone church and Mill pond just down the hill. brbrPlease note if there are any accidents there is a cottage hospital just literally around the corner, but it is not a 24 hr/ out of hours hospital.

The terrace was built in 1830 by William Morton Pitt, a Member of Parliament representing Dorset. He had a vision of transforming Swanage from a small quarrying and fishing town into a Victorian seaside resort. br***************************************************************************************************brChestnuts is very close to the seafront and shops, a short 3 minute walk down Seymer Road. The flat is full of character and comfortably well furnished with three bedrooms on the second floor, two of which overlook the Downs, Swanage Bay and the Pier. There is a WC and washbasin on the same floor.brOn the first floor we have a front lounge overlooking the Bay with 2x sofas, tv. There is a seperate dining room at the rear of the main house with dining table and chairs.brKitchen is at the rear of two storey rear addition which also benefits from the seperate bath/shower basin and WC.br************************************************************************************************** brPlease take off shoes at the bottom of the stairs when entering and place into the understairs cupboard (no shoes inside please). Please hoover up any dirt or spills asap. Original sash windows and a huge old Purbeck stone fireplace which has been limed to preserve its authenticity. This lovely cottage has been refurbished, the bathroom and kitchen have been updated (ground floor). The romantic master bedroom on the top floor has a comfortable king sized bed perfect for a well earned rest, the second bedroom with a single bed. The maisonette has its own entrance and is accessed via a side staircase. Great care and attention has been given to furnishing the maisonette in a beautiful romantic French style and it is only a 5 minute stroll into Swanage town with its many cafes and restaurants, restored Victorian pier, steam railway and long sandy beach - great for children. It is also a great place for water-sport lovers, and has a scuba diving school by the pier. Parking is usually available outside of the cottage although during busy times this cannot be certain. There are local roads behind the cottage which have easy parking and there is a short footpath that takes you to Lilac Cottage. brbrFrom the flag-stoned porch, the front door leads into a small hall with the sitting room directly off. This cosy room has a bay window and a working fireplace. There is a sofa, armchairs, TV, video/DVD, hi-fi with CD player. The room is stocked with books, and games. Fast WiFi is included with your booking.brbrThe kitchen/dining room leads off from the hall. This is a large room, full of character and includes an old fireplace. There is a built-in electric oven and hob, a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer and microwave. The cupboards are extremely well stocked with everything you are likely to need from a tea cosy to a cooler box and flask! The large pine dining table is situated by the original window seat overlooking the garden.brbrThe modern bathroom is on the ground floor off of the hall. The white suite includes a bath with shower over (not for very tall people as the ceilings are quite low!), and heated ladder towel radiator.brbrBeyond the kitchen is a small second sitting room (the garden room), where you will find some comfortable wicker furniture.brbrThe cottage stairs (with child gates both top and bottom) rise from the kitchen. There are three bedrooms, two doubles and a single with pull out second single bed. All beds have mattress protectors, duvets and plenty of pillows, all of which are a mix of feather and synthetic. brbrHowever, you will need to bring your own bed linen and towels. brbrThere is a hairdryer.brbrFor babies, there is a travel cot, highchair and fireguard. There is plenty of room in any of the bedrooms for the cot. brbrThe large garden is secure and walled, mainly paved in Purbeck stone, with flower borders -and the Lilac tree! There are views of the downs over the rooftops. There is a sun terrace with dining table, and a barbecue.brbrWell-behaved dogs are welcome. brbrLilac Cottage is welcoming at any time of the year and is particularly warm and cosy during the winter months. Complimentary, reserved undercover parking for one car is accessed by foot via the sloped pathway at the side of Sandringham Court.brbrIn the property, you can look forward to free WiFi, Smart TV, a wide selection of DVDs, and books of local interest.brbrWe offer a very comfortable double bed as well as a twin bedded room. The charming Victorian wooden pier is a lovely spot to promenade, go fishing, or just sit and take in the sights. It's also a popular starting point for divers.
