As the cabin is situated in a wooded, pond front area, wildlife is often seen nearby, including moose, carribou, eagles and sandhill cranes. brbrComfortably sleeps 12 in beds, not on air mattresses or couches. Rustic finishes accent modern amenities for the true, Alaskan experience in comfort. Each bedroom has a faux fireplace heater, thoughtful bedding, and light blocking curtains. The newly finished kitchen boasts stainless steel appliances, cookware, dishes, utinsels, spices, coffee maker, and more. The dining table allows for seating for 10, but additional chairs are provided. We have incredible bank fishing on our 131 feet of river access for a handful of different salmon species (Sockeye, King, Silver, and Pink), Rainbow Trout, and Dolly Varden. Our private fishing platforms are a short walk from both cabins. You can also put on your river boots and waders and step right into the river for that reel Alaskan experience. brbr-THE DENALI CABIN (Cabin seen here on VRBO)-brEnjoy our newly remodeled riverfront cabin that comfortably sleeps six to nine guests. On the main level there is a bedroom with a queen-sized bed; a full hall bath; a master suite with a queen bed and private 3/4 bathroom; and a kitchen, living, and dining area with full views of the river. After you clean and fillet your fish at the aluminum cleaning station, your fish is ready to be given that last good wash in the processing room and then packaged into bags we provide and vacuum sealed with our commercial vacuum sealer. The lower level of the cabin is a gathering room with kitchenette that has microwave, gas stove top (no oven or dishwasher) and full side-by-side refrigerator with ice maker, with all the essential setups needed to prepare a quick meal. Spend the evening hanging out around the large rustic island counter bar that seats 5 or relax on the cozy couch and rockers surrounding a wood stove and flat screen television. The second floor provides a large sleeping room accommodating 1 – 5 in twin beds with 1 full bathroom. One set of bed linens and one set of bath towels per stay. We are on the south side of the Kenai River off of Funny River Road, across from Bing’s Landing and a portion of the river called “the Rapids”. There are two other public access river fishing spots on our side of the Kenai River, as well as, the public access spots in Soldotna, near the Kenai Bridge (about 15 minutes from us) and you can do a search on local public fishing to see exact locations. Because of our “south side” location, we are about an hour drive to the Sterling and Russian River locations. Even though we are fairly successful fishing on our own, we are a big proponent of using guides to assure the best fishing results. The acre grounds are lush with trees, bushes and flowers, all overlooking the Kenai River and Mountains. brbrYou cannot beat the Kenai Peninsula and River area for wildlife viewing as our Kenai River Soaring Eagle Lodge and Cabins is aptly named, with eagles commonly seen all along the river. Our lodge and cabins in Soldotna is less than a 2 hour drive to either the towns of Seward or Homer. We are a 3.5 hour scenic highway drive from Anchorage Airport (ANC) and less than an hour from the Kenai Airport. Day trips to towns of Homer, Seward, and Kenai will give you a chance to experience the diversity of Alaska and the Kenai Peninsula. Heading to Seward you will travel north from the Kenai river valley through flat wetlands with scrub spruce to the mountains with stands of Sitka Spruce forest and clear mountain lakes passing by Exit Glacier to Seward with all its beauty of Resurrection Bay. You may decide to head south on another day along the coastline of Cook Inlet to Kachemak Bay and Homer where you will be treated on a clear day the majestic views of the Aleutian mountain range and Mount Redoubt. These two drive trips are an adventure in themselves with panoramic views of volcanoes across the inlet and wildlife viewing opportunities of bears, moose, caribou and an array of birds. brbrFor the fisherman at heart, the Kenai River has five species of Salmon with the Kings (Chinook) using it for their spawning grounds.
