Great location with sweeping views of rolling hills, vineyards, and the charming hilltop village of Montaione. The house itself could use some refreshing, though. We enjoyed sitting outside on the lanai and in the pool area, both offering spectacular views. The first bedroom in the main house is air-conditioned and has a comfortable bed. The second bedroom, which does not have its own AC unit (only one in the hallway), contains two twin beds. These beds are best suited for children, as they are too small for taller adults or teens. Despite keeping the doors closed, this room had mosquitos at night. The third bedroom, located up a half flight of stairs, has a platform bed with an uncomfortable spring mattress. We would highly recommend investing in a new mattress for guest comfort. The guest house features an updated bedroom and bathroom, offering a comfortable stay. However, the small living room and kitchenette feel outdated. There were a few small details missing that are typically found in other rental properties — such as salt, pepper, sugar, tea bags, or coffee in the kitchen, and no laundry detergent, hand soap, or other toiletries in the bathrooms. It would also be nice to have designated pool towels and pool toys. The net and balls for the table tennis were missing initially, but were promptly provided when requested.Overall, the area is beautiful, and with a few easy improvements, the guest experience at this property could be greatly enhanced.

We loved our two-week stay at La Villetta and hope to return. It does have a million-dollar view in all directions, and the beautifully landscaped terraces with pavilions provide many places to relax and enjoy the views and surroundings.Paulo was a charming host who provided fresh eggs and La Villetta’s own fantastically good olive oil, and Andrea a responsive and helpful contact. The nearby small community of Montaione is a lovely old hill town with several good restaurants full of local patrons. I’Ciampa was our favorite, and we also enjoyed coffees and pastries at Pasticceria Filli several mornings. The house is charming and comfortable. It was clean and included some very nice touches, like an old pantry cabinet loaded with colorful ceramics, wine glasses, other essentials, and unexpected things like a soup tureen.La Villetta was the home base from which we visited Florence and other Tuscan towns via rental cars, plus a two-day trip to Pompei via train from Florence. Renting a smaller vehicle or vehicles (as opposed to an American full-sized SUV or truck) is a good idea since the local roads are quite narrow, steep, and full of hairpin turns.

This property is located in a beautiful setting. The views are stunning on both front and back of the property. The physical building is tired though. I won't run down the complete list, but here are a few things that prevented us from giving a 5 star review...The hot tub was not operational, and looked like it wasn't for a long time. We did not know this before we arrived. The kitchen doors do not open wide, like the photos. One side gets stuck part way. The kitchen is old, broken drawers and noisy vent hood. I expected proper wine glasses since you're in wine country, but sadly, they were not. We had trouble sleeping because there were dogs barking all night, and there were tons of mosquitoes in the unit even though we kept the doors and windows shut. There is nothing in the villa, you have to bring everything you need, salt, pepper, hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, etc... The owner did leave a couple bottles of wine, and some fresh eggs, which was nice. We decided to leave a day early because the sleeping conditions were not ideal. Overall, the location is great, but the building and furnishings need to be renovated. I would stay in the same area again, just not at this property.

Great location to visit northern Tuscany - within an hour of Lucca, Pisa, Florence, etc. even closer to our favorite, San Gimignano.

Extraordinary view, great location, and Paolo was extremely reactive and careful. We all 5 really enjoyed our stay, parents having their building, and the kids their. Swimming pool and spa are very clean, so is the house. Thanks again.

We spent 15 days at the villa. The view was amazing!! Drinking coffee in the morning or wine in the Evening on the patio and looking at the vineyards and Tuscan hills was so relaxing. The villa was clean and any issues we had were quickly resolved. Montaione is a beautiful town with so much to see.

The location is superb for day trips to San G, Siena, Volterra, Florence. The views are absolutely breathtaking. The kitchen is spacious, but there is nothing stocked; there was no salt, no pepper, no sugar. We came from Canada and never expected to need to buy these staples. We left balsamic vinegar and a salt and pepper grinder for the next renters. We had to ask for toilet paper and extra dishwasher puck, as there were only four left for an eight day stay. This was rectified shortly. The small washing machine works perfectly and there are now two drying racks for outdoors. The clothesline is very rickety, and we wouldn’t recommend using it. Everything works however the hot tub runs only from 10 to 6 PM. There is no hot tub in the evening. This was a surprise to us, because that’s usually when people use a hot tub. The small annexed, one bedroom apartment, has serious water back up problems in the shower stall. There was also a developing water leak in the ceiling of the bedroom. In the main house, everything worked, but things were very tired. One thing to be aware of, is that you cannot run a microwave and washing machine, or a hairdryer, and a dishwasher, for example, at the same time, as it will trip the breaker switch. The owner, Paolo, showed up twice a day to sweep and run the pool vacuum system. He is very friendly. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful terrace from early morning, until after we got home from our day trips. The beautiful skies and smells of Tuscany are magnificent. As noted earlier, with some attention and fresh paint, and with some new living room furniture, the place would be absolutely perfect.

For us, a family of 7, the house was perfect. The view, the garden, the pool and the location was really apriciated. The fact that there is an exteded pool house seperated from the main house, but still in near connection, was for us very suitable since not all in our family have the same sleeping times. Niether the earlybirds or nights owls where disturbing each other. The owners where really friendly and keept the pool and garden clean during the whole time. Andrea, was easy to get in touch with and helped us, when needed. On the minus side, it was not always easy to cook in the kitchen for 7 people, when pans, bowls, cutting boards and platters was too small. Not adapted to cook for many people. Also, there where many mosquitoes and one could have imagined that the owner could provide with fly swatter and insectiside since it was difficult to find in stores near by. We bought a whole lot to keep the flys and mosquitoes away. Hope that it is left behind for the next rentals :). When at vacation, you don't want to travel around finding that sort of things. But anyway, these are picky details, overall the house was extraordinary. Just perfect!!!

As a family of eight we stayed here for a week. It is a beautiful house and property. Well maintained rose garden and nice relaxing pool area. The scenery is stunning and the area quite and peaceful. A hire car is essential if you want to sight see further. The walk to the local town takes about 30 minutes. The kitchen is well equipped and towels and bedding clean. The beds are quite comfortable also. Would recommend.
