Villa in L'Escala, Costa Brava, Spain. - Private Pool

We had an unforgettable two-week stay at this beautiful villa in Cala Montgó, L’ Escala. The location is just perfect – set on a peaceful hillside with absolutely stunning views from every room and the roof terrace, yet only 5–10 minutes from the beach and shops and restaurants.The villa itself is spacious, comfortable, and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The pool was a highlight for us – a lovely size and always inviting – and the surrounding grounds are just as beautiful. We especially enjoyed the two nearby viewing points, which made for wonderful walks and even better sunsets.This villa is a gem: a fabulous location, gorgeous design, and total relaxation. We couldn’t have asked for more and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy the Costa Brava.

What a lovely house. Isabel was kind and explained everything. Showed us around. Fantastic pool to play in for our kids. Lovely terrace in the sun. And the view over the sea and hills in the background was exceptional in the evening. We would like to return to this beautiful house.

Had a great stay, the villa has everything you need for your stay! Very comfortable. Location great, beaches and restaurants very good and nearby. Would recommend.

Whilst overall we enjoyed our stay, there were a few ways in which the villa dissapointment us. To begin, I can not fault it for cleanliness, or for location, both of which were very good. This villa, however, is advertised as 4 bedrooms and clearly it was never meant as such. Two of the bedrooms are on the 1st floor. It was clear on arrival that these 2 rooms were oiriginally a single bedroom suite with en suite and an adjoining seating area opening onto a lovely terrace (photos on the website bear this out). What they have done is install a glass sliding door in the archway dividing the two spaces. This meant you have to pass through one bedroom to get to the other one. The door was poorly fitted and afforded no real privacy. Whilst this would be a lovely spacious suite were it one bedroom (or suitable for young children) the arrangement simply isn't suitable for 2adult couples. The bed here had several broken slats. In general the furniture was poor and mismatched, and storage in the bedrooms was inadequate, even for a traveling summer wardrobe . There was very few plug sockets, I believe there was only 1 single socket in each of 3 of the bedrooms. The villa is advertised for 10 people but the kitchen was so small that the crockery had to be kept down the hall in a cupboard under the stairs. This is not necessarily a criticism as the villa never misrepresented itself as having a big kitchen, this is just an observation for anyone who is thinking of renting it and wants to cook a lot. It is however well equipped. The pool and the surrounding area were very nice and the poolside furniture good but unfortunately due to surrounding trees the pool was in the shade until the afternoon so the water never really heated up and was too cold to enjoy fully, even for the youngsters amongst us. On the website it says that the agent spoke amongst other languages English and Italian. This was clearly not the case as I speak both and the agent did not so communication was an issue. Having said that she was very jolly and friendly, was there when she said she would be, and I believe was trying to be helpful but language was obviously a barrier. A general info book, as we have found in several other villas we have rented, would have been helpful. In conclusion clean villa, nice garden and pool area, lovely views and location but needs some updating and maybe review some of the info on the website so it reflects the reality of it.

We stayed 2 weeks (8 untill 22 September 2018) in the villa with our dog and had a wonderful time. The villa is well maintained and very clean, the garden and swimming pool are beautifull and everything is provided for (linen, lots of towels, well equipped kitchen, wifi etc). We loved the terrace in front of the house which has a beautifull view on the bay of Roses. A perfect place for breakfast, lunch or dinner or just reading a book. We used the bedroom on the first floor which is very large and nice. The airconditing works really good and is very silent. Our contactperson Isabel was waiting for us when we arrived and explained everything; she was very friendly and we could contact her for any question and was always ready to help. The beach Montgo with restaurants and a supermarket and bakery are at walking distance (10 minutes). Also the stone beach of Illa Mateua, a beautifull snorkeling spot, is at 5 minutes walk. We can recommend this villa to everybody to have a beautifull vacation.

Good well equipped house, in a great location and enjoying views over Bay of Roses. Super garden and pool. We were pleasantly surprised to find great restaurants and supermarkets in Cala Montgo within walking distance. Isobel makes sure you have everything you need for an enjoyable and relaxing stay, our dog loved the garden and she was very accommodating ... she does not speak any English which makes it interesting ... but we had no problems during our stay so communication was by sign language which proved enough. We would have liked more information about the area nothing was provided by the owner and the tourist office was closed during our stay so we found everything out by accident/ curiosity. And please if we have one criticism some decent chopping / cutting knives !!

Family group of 3 adults & 3 children stayed here. House, garden & pool were immaculate, owner Isabel was very welcoming and helpful through the stay. Cala Montgo beach was very well maintained and ideal for morning outings with the children. Spent most of our time at the back or front patios of villa. Back patio is overlooked, but nobody staying next door, so was very private. Pool is in direct sunshine, beautiful trees on the property, for about 5 hours a day. 12pm to 5pm while we were there. Perfect for us with kids, but not if you're hoping for early morning to early evening sunbathing. Kitchen is cosy, but has everything. If you like to hang out and cook in the kitchen, it's only really suitable for 1 person at a time. Other than that, this was idyllic - quiet and relaxing for family time. L'Escala 6 mins away in car, Carrefour with everything you need, 12 mins. Nearest bar 5 mins away, open in evenings only while we were there. We would definitely visit Cala Montgo again and stay at this villa.

We have passed a great week in this house. It has a great view to the sea and the backyard with the pool and terrace makes you enjoy much more the time. The beach and supermarkets are about 7 min walking , very easy to get to them. The house was very clean, with towels and hairdryer and the kitchen is well equipped. We have used a lot the wi-fi which worked excelent. I would definitely recommend the house to other people moreover if you want to disconnected from the daily routine and stress the location is perfect,beautiful and very quite area.

Very nice villa with lovely pool area and garden. We walked to the beautiful beach and enjoyed swimming as well as children friendly. Short walk to view point with stunning views over the dramatic cost line. Nice location for exploring the area, we went to Dali museeum, Cadaque, Gorges dela fou (in france) and can really recommend the ruins north of Lescala.
