Stayed Mar 29, 2026Dead rat covered in maggots was found in the upstairs loft, along with rat poop in various places around the living areas. I alerted the property manager to a very intense smell like a dead animal, and was told, no, it is definitely the sewer. After waiting all day for someone to come over as promised, we finally went upstairs through the unlocked loft door and found the dead rat and hundreds of maggots that had to be picked up one by one and then sterilized the area with alcohol. I let the manager know we cleaned up the rat and maggots, but finally about 27 hours later, he came over and poured draino down our kitchen sink without any explanation. He then went on berating us for 30 minutes about how he knows the door is locked and we must have gone up to the loft in another manner. Finally I sent him a picture of the unlocked door, and that was the last I heard from him. I have many pictures of rat poop and the entire WhatsApp transcript in case it is needed. In addition to that, the inner lock on the main door was broken on the inside, so we could not lock up when we were at home. Also, on April 1 when the gate code was changed, the manager forgot to send us the new code until I pointed it out that we were locked in. Finally, about 14 hours after the code was changed, he sent me the new code. I had to track down another manager who seemed a bit stunned that no one let us know at the time the code was changed. Also, some serious damage to the deck railing.
