Villa Afrati

We love everything about this villa: it’s a perfect size, location and accommodation. Lovely garden and pool, plenty of helpful info and everyone is so nice and accommodating. We couldn’t get the coffee machine to work, may be worth checking if it needs descaling

We spent 12 nights at Villa Afrati having also stayed there last year and loved it. We really like the location, the property’s layout and the pool. It’s very handy for shops, the local cafe, fabulous local beaches and for exploring other parts of the island. Some increased screening between Afrati and Zara would be good to give more privacy. Also more glasses would be useful so that when the dishwasher is on there are enough for drinks in the meantime.

Absolutely loved this house with its comfortable bedrooms, super well maintained pool and gardens, and lovely view. It is well positioned close to Plaka and Almyrida, where there are good shops and tavernas, with more shops including a bigger Synka supermarket and very good butchers in Kalyves. Car hire worked well, as always, and Diane and Sylvia dealt with a couple of queries promptly. Housekeeping was immaculate and, although we never saw anyone come to clean the pool, it was always beautifully kept. There was one disappointment, however, and that was that, although the house was described as well screened from neighbouring properties, the mature conifer hedge between Villas Afrati and Zara had been cut down and replaced with a woven fence, which did not provide privacy (possibly affecting Zara more than Afrati) and removed any shade from the comfy seating area overlooking the pool. A new hedge has been planted but it is obviously going to be a while before it can provide the privacy and shelter that was there before. We fully accept that hedges get diseases and are not permanent but we would have appreciated being warned and think that additional parasols should be supplied by the comfortable seating and on the dining terrace above the pool, particularly as the parasols by the sun loungers are not that easy to move. Having said all of that, we loved the house and had a wonderful holiday there.

Villa Afrati & Freelance Villas once again hit all that we needed, thank you. Our second stay at this wonderful villa and it proved a very good decision to return. Very comfy, great space, great location and lovely views. The pool and outside space is also a big hit. We loved our 2 weeks here recently and next time it might have to be for 3 weeks !! Thanks once again and we highly recommend both Villa Afrati & Freelance Holidays. Yamas. Not a great deal really but there could be a bit more outdoor furniture. Maybe some more ice cube trays but we managed !! Can't think of anything else really so well done all.

Villa Afrati is perfectly located within easy reach of the coast to the East of Chania - we love this part of Crete as it offers something for families with children of all ages. Plaka, a short drive away (or 10 minute walk), is great for cafes and a couple of supermarkets, though Almerida and Kalyves offer a much wider choice. The villa is very comfortable with the pool conveniently located for easy access back to the villa for drinks etc.. We would definitely holiday at this property again in future. No comment - our stay was perfect.

Spacious surroundings and good layout. Well equipped and very comfortable rooms. Lovely pool area and plenty of shade available with the umbrellas etc. Sun loungers are somewhat uncomfortable, albeit they are probably easy to maintain. The outside dining table and chairs are mismatched, as the chairs are too low.

The villa was absolutely stunning, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The views are wonderful from every window and every outside space. A wonderful place for friends or family to holiday and I would thoroughly recommend A poolside shower would be beneficial. Perhaps an upgrade of the fridge as we needed to defrost it part way through our stay when it was failing to cool things adequately.

The villa is conveniently located with supermarkets and restaurants located just 3 minutes drive away. A nice bakery for danish and donuts is a further 3 minutes drive away. The villa is nicely located to venture further afield. The villa is well equipped with everything you need. It is a great size for 6 people. There is space to eat inside or outside dependant on the weather. The rooms are all nice sized with plenty of room. The beds are comfy. The view from upstairs balcony is amazing and is a nice place to chill and watch the sunset. The cleaners visit every 3-4 days and they do a great job. The freelance villa team is only a phone call away (WhatsApp) and response is very quick. We had a couple of minor things (bedside lamp not working and internet connection) that needed to be attended to. Between the freelance villa team and the owner, it was resolved very quickly. We had a great time and we will definitely use the villa again next time we visit Crete.

The Villa has everything you need for a family holiday. The pool & sea views are stunning. Beds are comfortable (which is a nice to have in Crete). Nice welcome pack on arrival and also met the owner who is super proud of his Villa. Management company are also great and we use Freelance every year & will use again.

The pool Everything else. While one appreciates the need to minimise windows in this climate, the villa feels dark and enclosed inside. The electric gate was very temperamental and not being able to leave the dishwasher running while outside seems unnecessarily complex. The use of Touchstay guides feels like a retrograde step. There is some villa-specific content, but most looks generic to Crete. The nearby restaurants section is particularly unhelpful you have to look at each one’s details then the map, then Google maps to find out how far they are.
