Stayed Mar 19, 2026Villa Laguna is remarkable: a palatial resort overlooking one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the world. We wanted to return to Laguna de Apoyo before flying back to Canada from Nicaragua, and booked Villa Laguna on a bit of a whim. We were soooooooo thrilled that we did. We walked through the front foyer and couldn't believe the stunning grounds and the private nature of the place along the beach. We also couldn't believe it was all there for us! Just two couples in this magical place. Now I'm wishing I had booked multiple days. Had I had more time, I would have taken advantage of the massages conducted in the yoga studio overlooking the water and the hired chef. We loved having access to the paddle boards. And although we were initially trepidatious about leaving the patio doors open for cool air during our sleep, the mosquito net was perfect and led to an even more unique and memorable experience. Lastly, Oscar--who was our host--is a gem of a person. We had to leave to make our flight at 2:30 a.m. and he woke up to make our coffee and load our luggage into the car. We'll definitely be returning!

Stayed Mar 15, 2026A special place. Miriam, the owner, is very organized and communicative…helped in preparing for our arrival (a group of 11 friends). The location is remote…and beautiful. Really beautiful. Many lovely spaces to gather and enjoy both the views and time with one another. And a beach all to ourselves at the base (the laguna was perhaps the prettiest lake I’ve ever swum in). Rooms, though basic, are clean and nice…but you won’t want to spend time in the rooms because the outside is so pretty. Staff is also very helpful and sweet…special callout to Julia, the chef. If you go, don’t bother going to a restaurant off property…it’s a hassle and the food will not be as good as what she will prepare for you. :)

Stayed Jul 25, 2025Amazing beautiful propertyHosted a large group Check process is easy Full kitchen WiFi is good and strong Oscar, the caretaker, treats you like royalty. Helps with everything including taking Kayaks down to the water, brings towels. He literally anticipates your needs. He is better than most butlers I have had at all inclusive resorts. We booked a cook and she was amazing and had great delicious meals. Some of the best I had in country. We didn’t utilize but you can book massage in advance. Our group did use the yoga studio and had the most serene yoga sessions I grew up in Nicaragua and have been to the Laguna de Apoyo many times, this house has the best access to the Laguna. Beach with shallow entrance. The water is magnificent. This house exceeded my expectations in every way.

Stayed May 17, 2025My family and I had an excellent weekend at Villa Laguna. The path to access the property is a bit difficult, but once there, we were fine except for the heat, as the property doesn't have air conditioning. The staff is wonderful, starting with Mirian, my host, who provided us with everything we needed via the website and phone, and with great kindness. Oscar and Rosa, who served us at the property with great kindness and professionalism, were also wonderful. The view of the lagoon is wonderful. In short, I recommend this place to anyone looking to spend a few days of tranquility surrounded by nature.

Stayed Apr 16, 2024Part of me doesnt want to leave this glowing review because I want to keep this perfect place to myself! It's like a picture perfect resort all to yourself! The Laguna de Apoyo is absolutely magical and these accomodations are superb. We hired the amazing chef to cook us delicious, nutritous vegan meals, we were wellcared for by the rest of the staff and Miriam was available to arrange transportaion and answer any and all of our many questions. You have to be willing to stand the heat, but the laguna is always there for a refreshing dip and there are many fans available and a generator kicks on when the electricity inevitably goes out in the area. I want to come back again and again!

Stayed Mar 26, 2024It was a beautiful view & the property was beautiful. Miriam was a great host. Unfortunately, we did not get to stay at the property as it was inconvenient for the crowd we were with. The road to get to her place is very narrow and uphill. We were in a 16 passenger van and it became difficult to go up to her home. When we got there the rooms did not have any a/c splits just fans, there were a lot of stairs and we were traveling with elderly and more elderly were coming to visit therefore we decided to leave. As we were leaving our van barely made it out of the property as it is all dirt and the tires were skidding. We tried to work something out with Miriam to get some type of credit back as it was not convenient for us but she didn’t budge. Also, make sure that you buy everything you will be cooking, water, etc as the nearest pulpería is about 20-30mins out & definitely don’t recommend driving to and from after sundown. But once again beautiful property with beautiful view.

Stayed Apr 5, 2023We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. The house had ample room for our family and direct access to the water. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. There's a fully equipped kitchen available. Staff was welcoming and very knowledgeable about local activities and restaurants - very helpful! We'd definitely stay there again.

Stayed Jul 16, 2022We are so happy with our stay at Villa Laguna. Not only was the house gorgeous, it was also super functional and met every single one our needs. To add to that, the scenery was breathtaking. Miriam was helpful all along, always replying quickly and with warmth to my messages. Oscar, an employee, made sure to assist us during our stay as well and was extremely helpful and pleasant. We would definitely come back.
