This was a perfect venue for a surprise birthday party/reunion. There was plenty of space to mingle; all the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable; the kitchen was well equipped, and there were generous extras like s'mores fixings in the kitchen and spare toiletries in the bathrooms. The setting and view are gorgeous, and rather than take advantage of all the great things to do in the area, we just hung out on the porch and in the pool, and enjoyed the place. Everyone in our group, from the 11-year-old to the 80-year-old, was delighted with it.
-Convenient market 1 mile away where we could pick up last-minute essentials (i.e. ibuprofen).
Overall, the property is nice but could be better at this price point. We experienced a few issues during our stay. 1. We couldn't get the lock box to unlock which had the key to the house. 2. The toilet on the ground floor was not flushing properly. 3. The water pressure throughout most of the bathrooms was sub-bar and a huge annoyance. 4. Pool table in the basement was broken, no other form of entertainment is available. Basement also is outdated and does not match the rest of the house. 5. Seating in the living room is very limited for this size of an house. 6. The kitchen island has 2 hugh islands, but only 2 bar stools.
I was looking for a place to stay for my uncle's funeral in Virginia when I lucked onto this place. My family had been attempting to organize a family reunion for the last couple years but had been unable to because of Covid. When my uncle passed earlier in the month, I decided there was no time like the present and that we should take this opportunity to all get together. We had 13 adults and 11 children (6 in pack and plays) in the house for 4 days and 3 nights. The house had room to spare. Comfortable beds, large bathrooms, and plenty of entertainment for the little ones. We barely took advantage of the bar area on the first floor because we were too busy with the pool, play place and back porch. The pictures on the website don't do justice to the views from the back porch. You're secluded in the middle of beautiful fields as far as the eye can see in just about every direction. The only thing more impressive than the house were the hosts, Adam and Lucia. The house is stocked with personal touches, technology, books and games. They left a welcome basket on the island with smores. On our second night, the house lost electricity (the whole county was experiencing power outages due to storm damage) and Adam contacted the County and provided us text/phone call updates every 30 minutes until midnight when the power came back on. Above and beyond is an understatement. Random Thoughts: The WIFI works well. Good phone service (Verizon). Smart TVs were nice for the kids in the morning. Great country/convenience store on the corner up the road that has most anything you forget. Instacart had no problem delivering groceries right to the back porch. Plenty of fridge and freezer space throughout the house. Large grill on the pool deck that worked well for burgers and hot dogs. HVAC kept the place nice and cool. Google maps found the place without issue. Plenty of Parking. Washer and dryer are new and work well. They provide a lot of towels for pool and bathrooms.
