Largs Town Centre: The compact town centre, which is only ten minutes walk from the Villa, is attractive and is close to both the sea front and the Cumbrae ferry terminal. Parking can be difficult in the town in high season. The town has a Morrison's supermarket and many shops including WH Smith and Superdrug. There are numerous cafes, bars, restaurants and take- aways.
For the energetic walker and sporty type Largs and surrounding areas offers much including a top class sporting centre. For those who wish to totally relax the promenade walks are gentle, in particular the walk to the Marina, via the Pencil Monument, where you can have a refreshment and dine in very pleasant surroundings.
A regular train service to Glasgow operates seven days a week and it allows for connections to both Glasgow and Prestwick airports. Good reasonably priced taxis are readily available. Frequent bus service to Greenock, Ayr and Glasgow. For full details on methods of travelling to and about Largs and surrounding area, visit the Tourist Information Centre beside railway station.
For historical information visit the Historical Society which is in Manse Court (adjacent to the George Inn in the Main Street). Also St.Columba;s Church.
Golf: Many golfers who wish to play the many excellent courses in Ayrshire -there are 45 of them- (including Turnberry and Royal Troon) use Largs as their base because of the 2 local courses, Routenburn (where a young Sam Torrance learnt his craft) and Kelburn and the fact that most courses are within 15 to 45 minutes drive from Largs. Virtually all courses welcome visitors and are reasonably priced. Expect to pay quite a bit more for Royal Troon and Turnberry and they are likely to ask for handicap certificates. Specific details on courses and their location can be provided on request although the Internet gives considerable detail on each course. The Island of Cumbrae which lies about a mile off the Largs coast has a good 18 holes and provides wonderful vistas of the Clyde and its islands. It is very popular and prior booking is recommended. The Island of Arran has a number of good courses (9 and 18 holes). The Island of Arran is reached by car ferry from Ardrossan (12 miles south of Largs)

Excursion Trips: These are numerous and a visit to the Tourist Information Centre is worthwhile. However have a day out in the county town of Ayr and take in the Robert Burns country. He was born in Alloway just south of Ayr. Burns cottage is now a museum. Close to the cottage is the recently opened Burns Experience Centre. One hour's drive will take you to the Trossachs which on a fine day is a scenic delight. From here you can go onto Stirling and visit its very fine castle. The remarkable Falkirk Wheel in the town of Falkirk should be visited. Rob Roy's country is close by. Take a ferry from Gourock over to the island of Bute (Dunoon or Hunter's Quay) and meander up the A885 through the scenic grandeur wildness of Argylleshire to Tarbet. From there turn south and this will take you beside the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond. Keep on the A82 and cross the Erskine Bridge and back on to the M8 towards Greenock and eventual return to Largs. These are relaxing drives and the roads are seldom busy. Glasgow is 50 min drive from Largs and Edinburgh 1.5 hours.

The property is in a very good location 1minute from riverside and easy walk into the town and ferry to Millport. We were there with family for a family event and there was plenty of room. The house is a bit tired and needs a bit of TLC, this would make it more a far more enjoyable experience.

Location was great, cleanliness poor cobwebs & dust in most places, the beds were clean & okay comfort wise, we could not use one of the rooms as the smell was so pungent, apart from this the house was pet friendly very dated kitchen had all we needed for cooking bin lid was really dirty but we hadn’t noticed till emptying, plenty of shops nearby. We didn’t take any photos wishing now we had.

There are many pros about this property! The house is in a very desirable area, and is super close to the waterfront, ferry and downtown Largs. We frequently walked to town in the evenings for an ice cream or fish n chips! The owner is friendly and can be reached for any questions. The home is older and could use updating and this is the reason for the 4*, but some things have already been done like the bathrooms, appliances and windows are newer. There are 2 bedrooms on the main floor so this was great for my mother who preferred to be on the main floor, and there is a bathroom on each floor too! There was always ample parking and it's in a nice and quiet area, thanks for a great stay and we would definitely stay there again!

Everything about this property was perfect! Great location, terrific and well stocked kitchen and baths and bedrooms. Leonard’s instructions were clear and helpful. He even had a list of things to do! And Largs is simply a wonderful vacation spot. We’re already planning a return next summer.

I was intrigued to read that Leonard’s parents built the house in the 1950’s. It has been well looked after and adapted to suit changing needs. Leonard’s notes of guidance and advice were all most welcomed. Were the pictures on the landing of his parents? We enjoyed our stay.

Easy to find and good location near the beach. The house was cleaned very poorly as underwear from previous visitors were found on the bedroom floor and crisp packets under bed.Host was pleasant to correspond with.

On arrival, easy access, no problems with key safe. Property was a bit tired, would benefit from some refurbishment, we understand the owner is aiming to achieve this, but not managed just yet. We found the kitchen and other rooms had been cleaned, but not very well. We had to clean under kitchen units and cooker as there was some rubbish under there. Some rooms were cold, due to radiators not working. Bathroom facilities were good, but shower mats grubby downstairs. We used the house as a base, and Largs has great transport links to the west coast and Glasgow. Largs is a nice town, friendly locals, good pubs and very good pub food. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, and just worked round the little issues.

We needed self contained care in order to entertain. Every thing was on hand & all shopping was near. There was also time out & revive memories/sightseeing on Cumbria. Great all rounder!

We were eight (reducing to seven as one had to return to London early). The house is very comfortable with everything you need. The railway station is easy walking distance and parking outside the house not a problem - a very quiet road. The owner could not have been more helpful.

I would have to say this was the most comfortable stay we have had in the UK yet. Large spacious home and everything you require. I don't believe we had any issues with the place at all and Largs is such a beautiful place. Thank you
