Stayed Dec 31, 1969These were the words of my cousin's wife when she came to visit us at La Filanda. Our family, consisting of my husband and me, our two children with their respective spouses and our six grandchildren first visited La Filanda in 2008. Five years later, we all returned as planned. The properties are ideal for three families, wishing to be together, but wanting to retain some privacy. The properties are comfortable and reasonably well maintained. One small suggestion would be that the first house should have single beds on the ground floor, rather than a double. The excellent swimming pool is the big attraction for our family, as are the large grounds for them to wander in. The big outside table is ideal for communal eating. The owners are friendly and welcoming, but not intrusive. The restaurant in Albiano, an easy walk from the rental, serves good local food. We know this area well, as my family originally came to Scotland from near here. It has great walking and swimming nearby, and the cities of Barga and Lucca are favourites of ours. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to others. Who knows, perhaps we might all return in another five years.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We stayed at I Cedri for a week with a group of family and friends. It's in a beautiful, tranquil location, yet only a 10 minute drive to Barga or a stroll up the hill to the tiny, peaceful village of Albiano with it's excellent La Terrazza restaurant. The comfortable accommodation has everything you'll need as well as being tastefully furnished with some great artwork. It has stunning views across to Barga and the mountains . There are two pools and a wonderful al fresco eating area with barbeque. It's an ideal property for a large group as the property is divided into three apartments and two houses allowing everyone to have their 'own space' whilst still being together. The owner is very friendly and helpful and the information pack is filled with invaluable tips about the best sightseeing, restaurants etc. We didn't want to leave!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our group of 8 recently retired couples spent the first week in October 2007 at La Filanda, and what a fantastic week is was. We found the high quality accommodation positioned in an almost unbelievable setting amidst the most beautiful countryside imaginable. We had the freedom to walk to explore the massive estate in complete solitude. I've tried to think of any improvements which I could suggest, but absolutely nothing comes to mind. We found the villa owners not only very charming and friendly people but they took great pleasure in showing us around their vast century’s old beautiful ancestral home. There’s a tiny ancient local village just ten minutes walk away where at lunchtime, we would bring time itself to a halt as we would sit outside the bar/cafe together with several carafes of local wine, cheese, Palma ham and bread, gazing over the rolling countryside to the distant mountains, without seeing another sole. This is truly a place of dreamompleteds and reality combined and I would highly recommend without any hesitation. David
