First - I will say that this is a fantastic location, if you are looking for something out of the hustle and bustle of OIA, but within east walking distance of all the most “instagrammable” sights. We stayed here with two kids under 11. Our family likes to walk, so the daily trek was no problem. Note that there is no pool and Santorini is HOT, so plan for swimming excursions. We were actually thankful that we had to go out, because it forced us to explore more of the aisland. Highly recommend the cliff jumping at the base of the trail below OIA. The best part of our stay by far though was the superb customer service. The property managers helped to arrange tours, all of our transfers, and made recommendations for all the best places to eat. This made the trip carefree and without worry over what to do and where to go. One thing we recommend for sure is a day trip on a catamaran. You see the whole Island, have lots of time for swimming, and get a different perspective that what is available if you stay on the crowded streets during the day…

Our hosts met us in the parking lot and helped us to our villa, which was a good thing since the villa is back a long, twisty and hilly path. The hosts were great, very gracious and attentive. They provided us with some basic food items for breakfast like granola, pastries, cheese, coffee, creamer, and fruit The villa was clean and bright despite only having a couple of windows. The white floors, walls and ceilings helped. The neighborhood is a quaint older neighborhood consisting of mostly rentals with a few long term residents. The long term houses were a little more rundown, but overall the area is quaint. There are no doors to the bedrooms, so don’t expect a lot of privacy from your travel partners. The courtyard area is well enclosed and very comfortable. The bathroom is small but has a very unique but charming style to it, very much like a cave. No shower curtain, but this was not a big issue. There is a limited kitchen consisting of a sink, compact fridge, portable 2 burner cooktop and a small panini press. No oven or microwave. Counter space is also limited. So meal preparation is limited. Overall, I rank the aTerre Villa very high, and I recommend to anyone as long as you don’t mind a couple hundred meter walk to and from your villa.

This property was great and had all of the necessities! The welcome basket with food was very much appreciated! The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Oia was just a 10 minute walk away with breathtaking views. Giannis was such an amazing and helpful host! He arranged all of our rides to and from places nearby, he had wonderful recommendations for places to go and things to do. The Black Beach is a must-see! He made everything so easy for us, and we are extremely appreciative. We had trouble with the water heater in the hot tub and he was there within an hour to fix it! The only two things are that the property was down a big hill with a rocky pavement, which was not easy to get to with our luggage & definitely not easy to get back up. Also, there was a major bug problem outside. Flies and gnats were everywhere, which made sitting outside (upstairs and downstairs) impossible. I think they were attracted to the tree because I didn’t experience a bug problem anywhere else in Santorini. They cleared up at night, and that’s when we enjoyed the hot tub. Overall, we had a wonderful experience! My husband, two daughters, and myself thoroughly enjoyed staying here. We made so many amazing memories!

This property was new to VRBO and had not been reviewed when we decided to rent. It did NOT disappoint! The pictures are accurate, the beds comfortable, the apartment well-stocked with towels and breakfast items for the entire family, the outdoor seating areas are a great bonus with the roof view breathtaking. The location is very near Oia but without the noise and tourists. The hosts were extremely responsive and helpful and really made our stay very special. We didn't rent a car but the hosts can help organize transfers to any place on the island as well as sailing and fishing trips. We did both and had the trip of a lifetime. This is a gorgeous property in a great location with friendly, kind and helpful hosts. A wonderful way to experience Santorini.
