Come and immerse yourself in the serene elegance of our Myrtia Pool Villa, nestled on the sun-soaked island of Crete. This enchanting getaway is perfect for any time of the year, offering a unique blend of luxury and relaxation.

Located in the heart of Crete, in the charming and picturesque village of Myrtia, within the county of Heraklion, the villa provides a serene escape from the often hectic pace of the more popular coastal resorts. The peaceful ambiance and authentic charm of Myrtia stand in stark contrast to the bustling tourist spots, ensuring a truly tranquil retreat. For those who have a love for the sea, the villa is conveniently situated just a short, scenic drive away from several pristine beaches, reachable within half an hour.

Myrtia is a traditional farming community, surrounded by lush olive groves and flourishing vineyards, creating a verdant landscape that epitomizes the natural beauty of Crete. This region is at the very heart of the famous Peza wine country, making it an ideal destination for wine enthusiasts. Numerous prestigious wineries, many of which offer complimentary wine tastings, are just a few minutes' drive from the villa. Food lovers will be delighted by the array of nearby restaurants offering authentic Cretan cuisine, ranging from budget-friendly options to gourmet dining experiences. The local cuisine, renowned for its use of extra virgin olive oil and fine wines, is a true culinary delight.

In the village of Myrtia itself, guests will find all the essentials close at hand. There are two mini grocery stores, with fresh eggs and vegetables, one of which is conveniently open on Sundays, and a traditional bakery where you can purchase fresh, local bread, croissants and pastries. The village is also home to the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum, dedicated to the famous Cretan author, a bar, three inviting tavernas, and a grill (souvlaki) place that offers delivery service. For those interested in history and culture, the village boasts a number of churches, including one that dates back to the Byzantine era, as well as a mystical “fairies” cave and a football pitch, all within walking distance of the villa.

Myrtia serves as an excellent base for exploring the many sights and attractions that Crete has to offer. The world-renowned Minoan Palace of Knossos is just 10 kilometers away, while the vibrant city of Heraklion is a mere 15 kilometers from the villa. The lively resort towns of Hersonissos and Malia, known for their nightlife and sandy beaches, are also within easy reach, located 35 kilometers away. Closer to home, the 15th-century Agarathos Christian Orthodox Monastery is just 5 kilometers away, and the nearby village of Thrapsano is famous for its traditional ceramics. To fully experience the rich history and natural beauty of the region, hiring a car is highly recommended, and parking at the villa is plentiful and hassle-free.

The villa itself is a spacious 150 square meters and is detached, offering a high degree of privacy, making it an ideal choice for large multigenerational families or groups of friends. The villa can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests (8 plus 2 in sofa beds), and we warmly welcome babies and children. The accommodation comprises four well-appointed bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom. The first master bedroom is fully accessible for disabled guests and features a wardrobe, a double bed, and an ensuite bathroom complete with a toilet, basin, and shower. The second master bedroom also includes a wardrobe, two adjacent single beds, and an ensuite bathroom with similar amenities. The third bedroom, equipped with a double bed, has a bathroom located just next door, which includes a shower, toilet, and basin and offers immediate access to the pool area. The fourth bedroom, equipped with a small double bed, has an en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet, and basin and is located on the roof top just a few steps away through a garden staircase. For your convenience, clean bed linen and towels are provided. We are happy to arrange additional services upon request, such as meal preparation, cleaning during your stay, fridge stocking, olive oil tastings, cooking classes, car rentals, airport pick-ups, and restaurant reservations.

The open-plan living area is a blend of contemporary comfort and traditional elegance, featuring Chic Greek Gifts art and linens, along with original antique pieces that have been in the family for generations. The living area is furnished with a corner sofa that can sleep a guest, and additional sleeping arrangements include a folding bed and a baby cot, if needed. An antique fridge, repurposed as a mini-bar, adds a touch of vintage charm, and a wood-burning fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere during cooler evenings. We provide an ample supply of olive wood for the fireplace, ensuring warmth and comfort. Entertainment options include a Smart LED HD TV and complimentary Wi-Fi, available both indoors and outdoors, so you can stay connected throughout your stay. The living area also includes a dining space and a fully-equipped, eat-in kitchen featuring modern European appliances, including an oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, coffee-maker, espresso machine, and microwave. The kitchen’s immediate access to the outside dining area enhances the sense of space and allows for al fresco meals in the fresh air.

The villa is equipped with numerous additional amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. These include hairdryer, iron and semi-ironing board, mosquito nets on all windows and doors, a table-mountain seat for toddlers, central heating for winter stays, and a constant supply of hot water. The surrounding landscape, with its breathtaking mountain views, is perfect for those who enjoy photography, painting, or writing. You can bask in the warm Mediterranean sun, under the bright blue sky, while listening to the soothing chirping of cicadas in the garden. The panoramic views of the surrounding valleys, olive groves, vineyards, hills, nearby villages, sunsets and church steeples are simply mesmerizing, especially when viewed from the tall, western-facing windows of the villa.

Guests are invited to enjoy the various outdoor seating areas, including the front veranda, back garden yard, BBQ arbor-pergola, and the pool area, all of which are perfect for relaxing, reading, or simply soaking up the sun or shade. If you practice yoga, the villa offers an ideal setting, with plenty of space to practice outdoors in the early morning or evening. The private swimming pool is perfect for both relaxation and fun, and an outdoor shower by the pool is available for your convenience, where you are welcome to use shampoo. As the day winds down, you can watch the sunset and spot the sparrows or swallows dipping into the pool to wet their bellies. Please note that the swimming pool is not heated and is therefore available for use from April to November.

The villa also features an outdoor courtyard at the back of the house, where you’ll find a few orange and lemon trees, as well as a barbecue for cooking with coal or olive wood. We kindly ask that guests who smoke do so outside, to preserve the freshness of the indoor environment. The climate in Crete is generally mild in winter and fantastic in summer, with warm, dry days and cool, refreshing nights.

During your stay, you will have exclusive use of the entire house, ensuring complete privacy and freedom. However, please be aware that we may need to visit occasionally, with prior notice, to water the vegetable garden, clean the pool, or check the solar power system. The roof of the villa is fitted with solar energy panels, allowing us to harness the power of the sun to generate electricity, which is why access to the roof needs to be done cautiously.

We had a lovely 10 day stay in Myrtia. The Villa was wonderful and Evaline, our host was amazing. A little difficult to find in the dark but thanks to the local folks who all seem to know Evaline we found our way. Beautiful and relaxing!!

The villa is beautiful and clean with stunning views of the Cretan Wine Region. The garden is fully equipped with sun loungers, bbq area and pool and is very secluded and private. The kitchen has ensign you could need too. The village itself is very small and very friendly with a couple of very nice and cheap tavernas. We madw new friends with the owners of the closest taverna to the villa who couldn't do enough for us - lovely place. Don't stay in this village if you're expecting clubbing as there is none of that, but there is oodles of atmosphere, views and friendliness!

The villa was everything we hoped for and more. We loved the pool and the amazing views. Spacious, cool thanks to thebair conditioning and great bbq area. Watched sunset every night from the porch. We had some delicious meals in the village, excellent value too. Evelyn was a superb host, always on hand ahould we need her guidance. Can't recommend enough. You will need transport but the airport is only 20 minutes away.

Beautiful house, friendly owner who responds quickly. The house is located in a non-touristic village with two minimarkets, a very good bakery, and several restaurants, all within walking distance. Heraklion is a 20-minute drive away.

Stayed for 9 nights in June (2025). The villa exceeded all expectations and is fantastic! Modern, beautifully furnished with gorgeous outside patio areas and gardens as well as the pool. Inside, the villa has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Air conditioning is provided in all rooms although the windows are fitted with screens (a brilliant feature) which means you can open the windows without being bugged out by insects so we actually hardly ever used the AC. The fully fitted modern kitchen provided everything we needed for our stay. Not that we cooked much as we preferred to eat at the local tavernas in the village. Outside areas are secluded and private and provide ample space for relaxing and sunbathing with plenty of shade when needed. The views are magnificent with panoramic vistas looking out over olive groves and vineyards with mountains in the distance. The villa is located in a small village and apart from the Nikos Kazantzakis museum, I would not say Myrtia is on the typical tourist route. A good thing in my opinion as it means the village has retained its character. It also means that the local tavernas are unbelievably good value compared to resort restaurant prices. And I mean unbelievable!. The village bakery/coffee shop is superb and the two local mini marts provide everyday essentials. We were so sad to leave and if the place were mine, I would be living there full time. Would definitely stay again. And Again.

Lovely family home in unspoilt Cretan village with fantastic view from the rooftop pool. Host couldn’t have been more helpful. Entry via quite a few outside stairs. Room to park.

All four of us were exhausted and decided last minute to stay in Myrtia instead of booked apartment in Bali. We really rested, doing day trips and local excursions also a lot of staying home and cooking and hanging out by the pool. The house is lovely spacious and cool, with good air conditioning and it’s so super clean. For cooking we could have done with better knifes and some kit but that’s only cause we are both chefs. We used the outdoor grill area most nights and really enjoyed it. The village has all you need. I would recommend this house!
