A few steps away this georges home, (within walking distance) Carmel Valley, the quiet village 11 miles south of Carmel-by-the-Sea, boasts 19 wineries and tasting rooms, a healthy mix of iconic Monterey trailblazers (Talbott), new players (Mercy Vineyards) and established wineries looking for foot traffic (Marilyn Remark).
Everything on the lush, overgrown trail is within walking distance, but without the traffic and commercial presence of Carmel. This village is humble, and with vineyards nearby, the windy stretch of Carmel Valley Road that leads to the Cachagua Valley feels more like wine country. We spent a recent Sunday exploring the strip. Here's what stood out.
Georis Winery: The Georis family farms 28 acres of Bordeaux varietals in the upper Carmel Valley. They're known for European-style wines, with lower alcohol and less oak. Walter Georis, who owns Carmel's French-inspired cafe, La Bicyclette, as well as the popular Casanova, recruited winemaker Damien Georis (no relation) from Bordeaux when they realized they grew up in the same village in Belgium.
The sips: Damien's Bordeaux blend, La Chappelle, is exceptional. We also liked the rosé and barrel-fermented sauvignon blanc.scenic sand dunes at Spanish Bay, threading the towering pines of Spyglass Hill, or challenging the cliff-swept shoreline at Pebble Beach, a golf trip to Pebble Beach Resorts is full of lifetime golf memories at your finger tips.

Take a 45 minute drive down one of the world's most spectacular scenic drives that hugs the rugged central coast (17-Mile Drive). Visit the The Lone Cypress, a Monterey cypress tree standing on a granite hillside off the 17-Mile Drive. The tree is a Western icon, and has been called one of the most photographed trees in North America. It is located between Cypress Point Golf Course and the Pebble Beach Golf Links. Possibly as old as 250 years, the cypress has been scarred by fire and has been held in place with cables for 65 years. The Monterey cypress grows naturally only in Pebble Beach and Point Lobos.
A drawing of the tree was registered as Pebble Beach Company's trademark in 1919. The company said the trademark protected not only the logo but also the tree itself.
Next, Located at the ocean's edge on historic Cannery Row, home of John Steinbeck , the Monterey Bay Aquarium is your window to marine life. Visit sea otters, penguins, sharks, jellies and thousands of other marine animals and plants. This is the most spectacular salt water aquarium on the planet.

Visit downtown Carmel which is full of amazing boutique shops, art galleries, antique stores and world renown restaurants.
If that is not enough, there are hiking trails galore with magnificent ocean views, bike trails and white sand beaches. There are many great wineries to visit and farmer's markets with the surrounding area best described and named America's Salad Bowl.

Carmel Mission: The San Carlos Borroméo de Carmelo Mission, otherwise known as the Carmel Mission, is one of the oldest Spanish Missions in California. It was founded in 1771 by Father Junipero Serra who is buried on the site along with many native American Indians who converted to Catholicism. The Carmel Mission has been designated a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service and is an active Roman Catholic Church, holding mass on a daily basis. In addition to mass, the Mission hosts weddings, art and cultural events, and numerous other Carmel community events.

It was very unique and accommodated our family gathering well. The stove/oven was not as pictured. The nice one had been replaced with one that looks like it should be in an apartment, not a “luxury” property. The hood in the kitchen was useless while cooking. There was algae growth in the pool and the exposed rebar and plastic pipes in and around the spa are quite unsafe. This property has so much potential, but it is definitely in a state of disrepair and needs A LOT of TLC.

The house was large, spacious and had enough bedrooms for all of us to stay in. It is in a lovely setting with a beautiful view of the green hills in the backyard. It is walking distance to small stores and wineries. It is peaceful & relaxing.

Perfect property for our group of 10 adults. Very close to the wedding activities we attended at the Bernardus Lodge and Spa. The bath and bedroom accommodations were the perfect setup. Shared spaces were well stocked and furnished. The backyard/pool area was a relaxing oasis!

The house is adorable. Check in was smooth. The layout and spaciousness was as described. There was a little bit of a bug issue. Especially a full ant infestation in the upstairs bathroom.

We had a great 40th birthday trip at the house! It is a great property and hosts are very responsive. There was an issue that the listing when we booked (8 months prior) had different information that was changed without notice. However, once the issue was discovered it was resolved - very responsive. We loved the hot tub and walking distance to downtown!

A great retreat weekend with five of my therapy clients. It started to go bad when the kitchen stove gave out. We had a professional chef. BUT, LUXVACA came through for us and we had a new stove installed in time for our chef to make us a scrumptious dinner. Thank you Ashley!!! We'll be back in the fall. Service makes a difference.

The house was beautiful and perfect for our group. The location was walking distance to fun wine tasting rooms and good food options. The house was spacious and clean and the outside was large and had plenty of spaces for our group to gather. We would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this house for anyone looking to visit Carmel!

We had a wonderful family trip to this property. We hiked at the nearby Garland Ranch Park, went to a wine tasting within walking distance of the property, BBQ'd one evening and sat around the fire pit for some dessert. There is quite a bit more to do in the area and it is within a reasonable distance from Carmel and Monterey. We had one elderly person in our group who was able to enjoy the spacious lawns with a walker. A memorable trip!

The property was beautiful and so clean! The management was incredibly accommodating and allowed me to come in and check things out before my final payment was due… It was beautiful and we hope to stay there for the event we will be doing annually there in the area.

Our adult children and their young children spent the weekend here with my husband and me for a wedding nearby. They all agreed I made a great choice! This precious house was perfect for a large group and is so utterly charming with the stone facade and fairytale windows. My grandsons thanked me for renting a Disney castle! The living spaces were perfect and ample, as was the beautiful kitchen where we all gathered in the mornings. All essential supplies were well stocked and that was much appreciated, the grounds and pool area are beyond lovely. In addition the beds were super comfortable (which prevented grumpy humans due to bad sleep!). Those of you who travel with large families know what I am talking about. If you are not familiar with the Carmel Valley area I will mention that the Valley is a perfect place for a quiet, tranquil stay. There is a strict noise ordinance in the Valley after 9:00pm or 10:00 (including at the wedding we attended) so this is not a place where you can come and party outside all night by the pool with loud music and laughter. (Just so you have a heads up before booking.) The LuxeVaca associates were great communicators before and during our stay, and I would not hesitate to book their houses available in other areas for future trips. I can tell they pride themselves on providing a top-notch luxury experience. Well done! - and thank you!

Architecturally it is a very unique home and the layout accommodated our family reunion well: it was spacious, comfortable, and had fantastic outdoor space and view. This house is very special and has a LOT of potential, but not a “luxury” property in its current state. The kitchen/ dining room is a beautiful gathering space and well equipped except for the stove/ oven. They have replaced the high-end unit pictured, with the bottom-of-the-line range - inconsistent with the quality of the house. Heating the pool is not an option. I had read several reviews that the hot tub was not working, so I proactively reached out to the host 1 ½ weeks before our stay to ensure it was working. When we arrived, it was not working! The management was quick to respond, but given the holiday weekend, it did not work for our 5-day stay. The hot tub needs some TLC, exposed pipes etc…does not look safe/ comfortable to sit on top of it. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would consider returning…if the hot tub was updated/ worked.
