Stayed Dec 30, 2025Lynda was a wonderful host and has an amazing property. We enjoyed much of what the property had to offer. The bikes, the pool, the tennis court, and making meals with herbs from the garden. What a place!

Stayed Mar 7, 2025Lovely stay from first communications with Lynda our gracious hostess to our arrival with a big hug & apples from their apple tree (so delicious) that Charley our host greeted us with. The location was perfect with easy access to vineyards. Great bike riding there & stars at nightnight

Stayed Jan 28, 2025Enjoyed our stay and meeting Lynda and Charlie. Unique and large historic home with a fun tennis court that we used for pickleball. Also enjoyed use of the bikes to see the area. Beautiful plantings and amazing massive trees on a spacious property close to Renwick.Heads up that sunscreen residue on light colored clothes washed there will get rust stains from the hard water.

Stayed Jan 5, 2025Hawkesbury Homestead is an historic home in the countryside of Blenheim - The grounds are vast and are very beautiful with lovely old trees and colourful displays of hydrangeas & roses, Inside the house there are many treasures, interesting books, and large dining & lounge areas.. There is a swimming pool & tennis court - with rackets provided. Bikes with helmets were also available for our use. The bedrooms are large - some with ensuites and having the use of the laundry was welcome. We found Hawkesbury Homestead a pleasurable place to stay - the peace & quiet was perfect for relaxing with a glass or two of local wine!

Stayed Feb 11, 2024If you appreciate historic settings, privacy, beautiful gardens and great location for visiting wineries this is the place for you! Our hosts were gracious and informative regarding the house and property. Comprehensive written guide for the house was very helpful. We would book again!

Stayed Jan 15, 2024The house and grounds were amazing, so private and peaceful. We loved our week away with our family playing games and enjoying the surroundings. There were fruit trees and a wee vege garden and our adult children loved the tennis court and pool. The hostess was very accommodating and knowledgable about not only the property but the area in general.

Stayed Dec 24, 2019What a privilege to stay at Hawkesbury Homestead! It is a gorgeous historic home with enormous windows offering views of the glorious grounds, gardens, trees, birds, bunnies and bees. We were all instantly enchanted. There is plenty to do: swim, play tennis, ride bikes, wander the grounds which are like an arboretum, meander down the country road, look at the vineyards and enjoy the gardens. Everything from bikes to a yoga mat to tennis racquets and balls and a fully stocked kitchen are carefully provided by hostess Stacey. Thoughtful touches abound, including fresh flowers throughout, wonderful beds and towels, soaps etc etc. Stying at Hawkesbury Homestead is like heaven on earth - we stayed two nights, and our only improvement would have been to stay much, much longer!

Stayed Jan 8, 2019Homestead, quiet, beautiful gardens, very comfortable. Appliances a little old, but this did not detract from the overall fantastic holiday experience. We highly recommend for a group getaway in the beautiful Marlborough region. You won’t be disappointed as my wife wasn’t! Owners lovely!

Stayed Jan 12, 2018My wife and I stayed at this unique property for four nights in mid-Jan 2018. Hawkesbury Homestead's curb presence is outstanding; it's a beautiful looking home in an idyllic setting with large trees, flowers everywhere, and a vineyard just past the adjoining pasture. The owners are both very engaging and friendly and we enjoyed a glass of their own sauvignon blanc and some cheeses with them right after we arrived. There's a saltwater pool and a tennis court too. Just walking the grounds was very relaxing and my wife and I very much enjoyed sitting on the one of the many decks and just watching the world go by. The house is close to many cellar doors who are more than happy to have a visitor, and we spent a day riding the Hawkesbury Homestead bikes to various wineries. There are few what I would call indrastructure issues however. First, the beds are just queen sized. My wife and I haven't slept on a queen sized mattress in 20 years and the smaller size took a little getting used to. There is no air conditioning either and only one door and one small window has a screen, meaning bugs will come in, especially if you leave a window open and have a light on at night. It is an old house (built in 1883), and these are some of the issues that our ancestors faced. But this house seems to be pretty well insulated, and we found that we could capture the morning coolness all day and night. The kitchen works just fine and we grilled some lamb, sausages and pork over three nights after we acquired these items at the local farmers' market. There are tons of things to do nearby too and we found that we ran out of time to get to everything we wanted to see and try. Looking back I would give our entire Marlborough area experience five stars. We very much enjoyed staying at Hawkesbury Homestead too. My wife and I have rented many homes around the world and found this one to have a very unique personality.
