Family villa with private heated pool, close to local amenities & superb beaches

Villa Maria is a privately owned villa which has been redecorated inside and outside during June 2023.

The plot measures 536 square meters and the villa measures 199 square meters. It comprises of 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and is situated in the Aldeia das Descobertas area within the Praia D’El Rey Beach & Golf Resort on Portugal’s Silver Coast less than an hour’s drive from Lisbon International Airport. The villa sleeps a maximum of 8 guests with a total of 7 bedswhich is perfect for large families or smaller families / groups sharing. The villa is spacious and close to local amenities. The villa has a Portuguese habitation license 137265/AL issued by Turismo de Portugal.

The bedroom arrangement makes it perfect for families or groups holidaying together, with three ensuite bedrooms and the fourth bedroom which has access to a guest bathroom across the hallway. The beds in the ensuite upstairs and downstairs can be configured as singles or a double to suit guests needs. Two of the upstairs bedrooms have direct access out to a large terrace area perfect for soaking up the sun.

The downstairs ensuite bedroom has direct access out to the swimming pool. The villa is also equipped with a travel cot and highchair. Bed linen and bathroom towels are provided. Guests will need to bring their own towels for use around the pool and at the beach. The open plan living room has a smart tv which includes digital tv service (100 channels & Apps such as Netflix, Disney+, Prime, BBC iPlayer etc.) and free WIFI. The dining room table seats 8 people and is perfect for sharing a meal together.

The villa also offers a fully equipped kitchen and gas central heating throughout for the winter months. Leading out from the dining room is a terrace with a traditional Portuguese style brick BBQ and outdoor seating. The property includes its own private saltwater swimming pool (8m x 4m), which can be heated to a temperature of 26 to 28 degrees Celsius. The heating costs are included in the rate for the months of July & August. Additional heating costs will apply outside of these months.

Guests are requested to ensure that a responsible adult always supervises children as the pool does not have a safety net or any secure enclosure that would prevent young children accessing the pool. Please refer to the pictures of the pool area listed on the website. The owners bear nor accept any liability for accidents.

The villa is located within 5 mins walk to the resort's tennis centre which offers equipment hire and lessons, 10 mins walk to the golf course clubhouse and driving range. The nearest beach is in front of the Marriott Hotel which is a 5 min drive away which has designated swimming areas which are monitored by lifeguards. The Marriot hotel is located towards the beachfront and offers a selection of restaurants, pool, gym, kids club & luxury spa which can all be booked. There is also a mini market and seafood restaurant (Mare’) within the resort. The golf clubhouse serves food and drinks in a casual setting for all, not just golfers.

On street parking is available directly outside the villa as well as in designated bays at the top of the road. The road is quiet with good lighting at night.

Guest will need to adhere to the villa rules & policies as well as sign the rental agreement. The agreement also outlines the breakage protection policy details.

Nearby Golf Courses:

The villa is 2 min drive to Praia D'El Rey golf course located inside the resort (voted #8 in Portugal 2022). There are also three other championship golf courses in the area which are all within 15 min drive from the villa. West Cliffs Links Golf Course (voted #2 in Portugal 2022), Royal Obidos Golf Course (voted #17 in Portugal 2022), Bom Sucesso (voted #41 in Portugal 2022).

Nearby attractions:

Outside the resort the nearby Obidos lagoon is just 15 mins drive away, which is a popular choice for families due to its shallow waters and great beaches. Obidos lagoon is the largest sea water lagoon in Portugal. Visitors have access to a variety of water sport activities on the lagoon including SUP, canoeing wind surfing, kite surfing and fishing. There is also a cycle track around the perimeter of the lagoon for the more energetic. A selection of cafes and restaurants can also be found near the beachfront area of the lagoon. The lagoon also offers impressive bird watching as well as Poca do Vau situated next to the lagoon.

The walled medieval town of Obidos is 25 min drive away with its spectacular castle, a UNESCO world heritage site, hosts various colourful festivals, where visitors can experience the local Portuguese culture is well worth a visit.

The Silver Coast boasts some of Portugal’s most stunning sandy beaches. South of the resort just a short drive away, are the magnificent beaches between Baleal and Peniche, the latter also hosts world surfing championship events. The superb surf conditions offer a great experience for beginners and pros alike with surf lessons and board hire available from several companies in the area which are very affordable. You will also find a range of excellent cafes and restaurants between Baleal and Peniche.

Nazare is located just 45 min drive north of the villa and is well worth a visit. Nazare is famous for its giant waves during the winter months when the Atlantic storms roll in, but the town has lots to offer with a beautiful beach, harbour, cafes, restaurants and shops. The surf museum is also worth a visit.

Lisbon is located 55 min drive south from the villa and is a fascinating city full of history, monuments, impressive bridges, great restaurants and vintage street cars. These are just a few of the reasons that make it an extremely interesting city to visit and a place you will want to return to.

Porto is approximately 2.5 hours’ drive north of the villa so also easily accessible for a day trip or overnight stay. Porto has a lot to offer with its rich history, beautiful architecture and great restaurants. There are plenty of sight-seeing options. The Douro Valley famous for its port and wine products also offers a wide range of tasting tours which can be tailored to suit your needs.
