Stayed Aug 6, 2025At last is there extra information to be needed or useful?Like the swimming pool was not prepared before we entered the house.Like the during the cleaning of the swimming pool the host was smoking a sigaret.Like the bathroom was not cleaned and water on the ground became a pool.Like we get the task of the host totally fix the bags for the bins.Like the dishwasher the host claimed the the gast a glass put in the dishwasher on that day off departure on the sixth off augustus. Like the smell in the house what you can’t see on pictures. A smell the agrees with chemical product to destroy pests. Like the cleaning stuff is dirty in the corner outside on the balcony what you can’t see on the picture on the website. There were still two old buckets whit old mops. The table outside we were supposed toe wat was also dirty. We still had to put the garbage bags in the trash can ourselves. Like the the furniture at the swimming pool. At pool there old wooden loungers instead of the chairs shown in the foto’s on the website.Like smoking was not allowed, however our daughter smelled cigarette smoke in the bed room.

Stayed Jun 9, 2025Roberto was a wonderful and very attentive host. The pool was just what the doctor ordered. My daughter practically slept in the pool. Lucca is a really neat town and the villa is only a few kilometers away. So much history at your fingertips.

Stayed Jun 30, 2024We had a lovely time here. Roberto was very kind and helpful, phoning me before we left the UK. The apartment is charmingly old fashioned, with lots of family memorabilia and lovely antiques. The kitchen is well equipped and we were greeted with a bottle of wine, some fruit and some delicious biscuits. We loved eating outside - all under cover - and did so every lunchtime (Esselunga supermercato is 5 mins away). We couldn't eat after 5.30pm, because of the prevalence of mosquitos (and other biting insects) - my poor husband was very badly bitten, even though we took many precautions. The house itself was free of them thanks to screens and net curtains, but you couldn't leave the doors open as there were many flies. Going into Lucca to eat is fine though. The recycling and bin collection is quite confusing, take time to read it all! The beds were very firm, which suited me very well and although the covers were old, they were clean. We had a brand new TV, which was lovely, as we rather dreaded the old one in the photos and we cast our own programmes onto it. The Swimming pool was lovely, but the tiles got very slippery so be careful. Swimming later will mean more mozzie bites! There's also a table tennis table - such fun! Roberto was also very kind and drove us to Lucca a couple of times, which allowed us to drink. It's perfect for visits to Pisa and Florence, with Lucca being a fabulous place with everything you could need! Highly recommended.

Stayed Mar 18, 2024Fantastico! This villa and our ENTIRE EXPERIENCE living there in Lucca, was, without question, the most valuable, special, emotionally fulfilling trip of our lives! We both will cherish and remember this holiday forever and, quite frankly, can't wait to get back!! ROBERTO ❤️❤️, our host!! HE was the most valuable, special friend to us and absolutely the most significant factor in what made this vacation as fulfilling as it was! From checking in with us before our arrival so he could PICK US UP in PISA ( who does that!! XOXO), to trips to Essulunga for groceries and rides to the Wall made for seamless immersion into daily life there! We cherish memories of our evenings together with he and Marcella sharing 4 hour meals at places no visitors would otherwise discover!, gelato near where Marcella was born in darling City Center 80+ years ago!, talking together and learning so much! My Italian improved daily due to the patience and encouragement of this SPECIAL FAMILY!! THE HOUSE!! Words can not describe the joy of living, basically in a castle!! The DETAILS of this home are indescribable! MARBLE on marble! The decor and art and tapestries!! Museum pieces in our EVERYDAY life! Making pasta using the built-in rolling pin nestled in the kitchen table!! Feasts of fish JUST CAUGHT by Roberto and grilled on the magnificent outdoor BBQ!! What a life! WE ARE COMING BACK!! I can, truly, see this as a recurring vacation for us.. like every 2 years!( Or sooner if I can get the airfare!!).

Stayed Sep 16, 2023The villa was spacious and the living room was very nice. Roberto was very helpful with local knowledge. There was some confusion over the swimming pool! On the listing it says the pool is available through September but Roberto told us the pool was closed from the 16th September. He did open it at our request. Unfortunately it did not look as good as the photos!!! Roberto made us feel very welcome.

Stayed May 2, 2023Our host, Roberto, was extremely welcoming and we really enjoyed the very spacious and charming villa/apartment. Be sure to rent a car so that you can get around as you’ll have many wonderful places to visit within driving distance, such as the beautiful walled city of Lucca (10-15 minutes drive), the stunning Pisa (30-40 minutes drive) and incredible Firenze (45-60 minutes drive). We suggest that you bring very good walking shoes because you’ll want to stroll through these beautiful cities for the entire days to take in all the sites, café’s, shopping and gelaterie. In addition, there are many more things that we plan to see next time such as Cinque Terre, Bagni di Lucca, the beach, and much more. Roberto gave us great advice on places to see and visit while in Lucca. The apartment was very clean and featured beautifully maintained antiques for an added authentic Tuscan feel. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well. The supermarket Esselunga that Roberto recommended is very big, well stocked, has very fresh food for sale, and everything you’ll need for your stay … just remember to weigh your fruits and vegetables in the produce section before you get to the cash… we learned the hard way ;) We highly recommend staying at this place to anyone who prefers a relaxing home away from home feel vs a crowded hotel. Our family is really grateful to have stayed here. Grazie mille Roberto for being a wonderful host!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I've been to various places in Tuscany during my childhood and each time we stayed in a different villa, usually outside big cities in rather remote locations. Roberto's villa is great, because it offers the feeling of being a little bit outside and in calm environment (the whole estate is fenced, which was great for our dog!), while actually being only a few minutes away from the Lucca city centre, the supermarket or the Autostrada to close locations like Pisa. We enjoyed the pool, the garden and the rooms. In comparison to other villas I stayed in, the kitchen is extremely well equipped with a fridge, a freezer, an oven, a functioning gas stove, two sinks and even a microwave. The water in the bathrooms work fine. In general, there is a lot of space in the house. Since we've been two adults and a small dog, there was more than enough room . Roberto and his mother are great hosts. If you have a question, it will be answered in no time. They provided us with towels, access to a dishwasher and a washing machine (although we had no need to use either of them) and gave us great directional instructions before arriving and for finding the closest (and great!) supermarket. Since another user made a comment on the waste seperation system: If you are from Germany, you should feel very familiar with it. There are differences, but overall there are 4 different gargabe bins and even with no Italian language knowledge, noone should be overwhelmed with understanding the descriptions on the bin. Roberto also provided a complete English translation. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay at Roberto's villa. We felt welcomed from day one till the last day of our stay. Grazie!

Stayed Jul 9, 2019We had a wonderful 12 days in July at this house near Lucca. Roberto was great at giving us information about the property and the area before and during our stay and answered all of our questions. He was warm and welcoming, left us some information about the area and showed us how everything worked. The house is clean and decorated in antiques. The bedrooms are a good size with one full bathroom and one smaller bathroom, both of which work well (i.e. showers, water pressure, hot water etc.) The kitchen is a good size and fully equipped. The house has no AC, but it stays cool and opening the windows (with screens) at night cools the place right down in a few minutes so it wasn't really a problem. The property is exactly as shown in the pictures, surrounded by trees with lots of places to sit, read, eat or relax. It is very quiet, with lots of birds and a family of hedgehogs. The pool was clean and well maintained. It's easy to get in and out of and great to cool off at the end of the day. There's a bakery and very good pizza shop within a 5 minute walk. There is a restaurant at the end of the road, but it was closed for holidays but it looks like a nice option if you don't want to drive into town. There is a big grocery store about 10 minutes away. The house is well situated to explore the area. It is about 5-8 minutes from the walls of Lucca so easy to get in/out for dinners or exploring. Montecarlo is about 25 minutes away but absolutely a must visit to eat. The ferry/train to Cinque Terre is about an hour away in La Spezia. Pisa, beach, Florence etc. are all within easy reach. Roberto and his mother are wonderful hosts, the house is great and this is a great place to stay. Highly recommended.
