Pros: I mean, it is right on the beach. And a good part of the beach, too. And walking-distance to the pier. The host was flexible with us about how many guests--we had 24, they were listed as up to 20. Easy pet policy--our well-behaved dog was with us and there was no extra fee. We did kennel him when we weren't at the house, but only as a precaution on our end. The host didn't even ask. There are lots of bathrooms, and enough beds for 17 people (assuming double-occupancy for most of them). Plenty of parking. Two big balconies. Cons: The house is not well-cared for. One of the showers wasn't working. The downstairs bathroom sink had no hot water. Mildew growing on the bathroom ceilings. The faucet of one tub had to be shoved back in each time you turned the shower on to keep it from falling out. The basement and attic should be cleaned up or locked off to prevent kids injuring themselves. 3 of the adults in our group decided to sleep on the couches/buy air mattresses because their beds were so bad (all were bad, actually). No furniture on the balconies. The kitchen had very little silverware, bowls, glasses (but plenty of plates). But the biggest issue: the house was not clean enough. Spiderwebs in many corners. The floors, especially, needed a deep cleaning to remove possibly years of grime. The windows need to be washed. There was trash in the yard, including broken toys and used napkins. Finally, host was mostly unresponsive to anything--including inquiries about checkin

This could be such an amazing house. As others have stated, it is out of date and is in some serious need of some TLC. I really wanted to love this place but it was quite the adventure. The good is all about the space and location. There is plenty of space to move around for a large group and the beach is awesome. It felt extremely private. Very quite nights and nobody within 100 feet of you on the beach. As long as I was on the beach, life was good. The not so great list is pretty long. I'll start with the non-existent check-in. Tried contacting the owner and received no response. Thankfully the house was completely unlocked when we got there. There is no way to lock up the house as the doors are trashed and the basement leads to a non-lockable outside door. The house itself was not dirty, but not clean either. Mold on the ceilings of the bathroom and shower curtains Outdoor area not cleaned either, trash found on the patio. Had to wash all dishes as they were dirty or completely chipped up. BTW they only have 4 coffee mugs and 10 forks. If you have more than 10, you'll need to bring your own silverware. No smoke/CO2 detectors, outlets are exposed/hanging out of the wall. Water pressure is non existent in multiple showers, some showers barely work, so plan ahead. Fridge leaks, beverage cooler runs so hot we were concerned about a fire hazard, especially with no smoke detectors. Overall beach was awesome, house was unsecure and uncared for.

Our two weeks at the Villa from June 29 to July 13 were great. The beachfront location is fantastic allowing young and old guests easy access in and out. The beach is not crowded so we always had plenty of space. We had children/grandchildren first week and brothers/sisters/cousins second week spanning multiple generations of our family. The building is almost 100 years old and has an interesting history (Charles Lindberg slept there). It is now more eclectic than luxurious which was actually more alluring to our guests. We had plenty of space for dining/socializing/playing/sleeping/working. The hosts quickly resolved minor (TV remotes, trash pickup) and major (dryer not heating requiring new heating coil) items. We hope to return.

We had a great time with our family and friends hanging out on the beach and at the house! Plenty of space for everyone and places for all of our stuff! Full large kitchen to prep family meals! The building could use a few repairs, some of the mattresses could be updated. For the price we can’t complain! Loved the history and old craftsmanship of this unique beach house!

We loved this beautiful old home on the beach! Note that it is an old home a does require some love but we would go back for the comfort, the tranquility, the privacy and the AMAZING view. Thank you!

I think the title pretty much says it all. I'm giving the property 3 stars because of it's location and size, everything else about the property is, let's just say, lacking. It's definitely ready to be taken out of commission. Half of it isn't functional at all. We described our experience as camping at the beach. My guess is that the owners are trying to get every last dime out of it before tearing it down. So if you're OK with staying at a decrepit old mansion, in a great location, then this is the property for you.

We had a lovely time in this very unique and spacious villa at Old Orchard Beach. There was room for everyone with the ocean spread out before us. The management was very responsive and our stay was memorable. We enjoyed imagining the many stories this building would tell us if it could, and were pleased to be one of the stories it could tell going forward.

You can’t beat the location of this property. Beautiful beach and views. The house has the potential to be beauty however it does have issues such as leaks in ceilings which caused out little niece to slip and fall. Calls to address this remained unanswered. The grill didn’t work and we were sent a brand new one the next morning so that was great service.

The Villa was the perfect size to accommodate our family, couldn’t ask for more. Loved that floors were all tiled.

Our family rents a home each year. We saw this home and thought it had a fun charm about it. We told our grandchildren we were going to stay in a castle. It was right on the beach. Such a beautiful spot. When we arrived we were shocked at the state of the the house. I’m okay with it needing some upgrades. After all it’s an older home and we knew that. We pulled in and the first thing I noticed was the broken window. It was in reach of our 3 yr old grandson who is too curious . There was a leak coming from the ceiling in the entry way and a puddle of water on the floor. I decided to walk around the property. There were beer bottles under the porch and cigarette butts all around. . So many dangerous wires dangling off the roof and we had no idea if they were live. Honestly I could go on and on and on. In short this is clearly a party house and not for families. This home is booked until next year at this time. I’m shocked. This home has many safety problems. No lock on basement doors, some doors in bedrooms get stuck and you can’t open them from the inside, and no plugs for tubs to give kids baths. My husband worked tirelessly and we were able to get a refund and vrbo put us up in a hotel until we found a new house to rent. Very disappointed to say the least.
