LOCATION: Reef House is situated 150 feet above Crescent Beach on the southeast facing coast of Bequia Island. This exclusive newer Villa offers complete privacy in a gorgeous above the sea and mature tropical garden location.
Reef House was completed in June, 2011. The owners named the house after the off shore Crescent Bay Reef with its constantly breaking waves that one sees from every part of the property. We chose this site specifically because of the powerful views that will captivate and entertain you from the moment you arrive and step out on to the ten foot covered veranda facing the sea and reef.
Reef House is nestled into the hillside and is constructed of local stone and Greenheart hardwood in a style that reflects the Caribbean tradition yet provides all the modern conveniences. The exterior walls are covered in cut stone which gives the house the feeling of a sea captain's villa. Reef House's pavilion style design is naturally cooled by the Caribbean trade winds that constantly flow in from the sea. No A/C is provided.
The living spaces of Reef House are designed to be 'as one' with the sea and sky. Spacious verandas emerge from the rooms on the first and second floors either overlooking the two bays below or a private garden filled with colorful tropical plants.
Pairs of tall, arched Dutch doors push open to reveal views of the turquoise sea from every room. It is only a five minute walk down the hill to the white sand, palm tree lined Crescent Beach.
The Upper Level can be used as a TWO BEDROOM home. It consists of the master bedroom with its high-beamed ceiling and stone surrounded, nine foot arched wooden Dutch doors that open to the sea. There is a generous walk-in closet, a stylish bathroom with dark green soapstone counter, Balinese teak mirror and a large walk-in shower with walls of green marble tile and a slate tile floor. The king size Balinese teak four poster bed is covered with a mosquito net. As in all the bedrooms, a ceiling fan cools room. Screens doors also let in the cooling breeze.
Next to the master bedroom is the open-air dining room with its artistic walls of cut stone and a hand-made wood dining table that comfortably seats 10 guests. Gorgeous ocean and garden views are featured from this area of the property.
The spacious Octagon shaped Living Room with Kitchen follows next with its vaulted wood beam ceiling and handsome stone terrazzo floors crossed with wide strips of tropical wood. All the teak furniture has been imported from Bali and gives the house a relaxed, 'barefoot chic' ambiance. The Octagon has six hand-constructed nine foot Greenheart Dutch doors, each framed by a cut stone arch, that open to a magnificent vista of either the verdant tropical valley behind the beach or dramatic views of the sea, reef, islands offshore or cloud filled tropical blue sky.
The kitchen has a large dark green soapstone center island with bar stools, soapstone counters, stainless steel refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, dishwasher and large walk-in pantry.
The upstairs guest bedroom, with queen size teak four poster bed, is of similar design as the master bedroom and bath. This Upper Level featuring TWO BEDROOMS has no stairs and is on the same elevation as the entry garden filled with tropical plants.
The Lower Level is comprised of three generously proportioned guest bedrooms each with a teak four-posted queen size bed covered with a mosquito net. Each bath contains a walk-in tiled shower, soapstone counter top and Balinese teak mirror.
Two of the downstairs bedrooms share a spacious bath with its extra large walk-in shower.
There is also a separate media room for watching movies on the HDTV (bring your favorite DVD selections) with a teak single sleigh bed and full bath.
For your added enjoyment, there is a plunge POOL with an underwater bench designed for sitting and relaxing and taking in the sea views.

The property is in a beautiful location, and all amenities are first class. The property owner, Property Manager, Housekeeper, are truly exceptional. If we had to nitpick, it would probably be that the house would be so very much more comfortable if it had air-conditioning in the bedrooms. I know electricity is expensive, but there exist split a/c units, meant to cool only one room. To save on electricity, they could be on timers so that they only function at night.
A lovely house, well designed and ideal for a break where peace, quiet, a lovely view, all mod cons, a swimming pool and a friendly cat are required.. We were going to visit Bequia in 2020, but this obviously had to be cancelled, and it was great to finally get there. The house is managed by Chris, who met us at the airport where we were hiring a car, and directed us back to the house - this probably saved us considerable time, as the one thing that is not available in any great quantity in Bequia is road signage! Chris was very helpful all the time we were at Reef House, and he quickly sorted out the only problem that we had, which was a minor electrical issue. It was a pleasure to also meet Cassandra, Obediah and Wesley who look after the house, pool and gardens. The communication from the owner, Sally, before we travelled and during our trip was excellent, and her information pack about the house and the island answered all the questions that we had. A great place to stay for 2 -10 people if you are heading to Bequia.
The Reef House is absolutely gorgeous. It must be seen to be believed. All my interactions with Sally, Christopher, and Cassandra were lovely. Even with seaweed on the closest beach, it is a great location. You might want to rent a car as taking taxis everywhere is quite expensive. But taxis have the advantage of being driven around by locals and learning about the island. . If you are in decent shape you can walk into town or on the road away from town is a lovely scenic walk I highly recommend the Reef House and hope to be able to return. Thank you so much, Sally!
Reef House is a beautiful property, built with great care and craftsmanship. The owner Sally and property manager Chris were very helpful and fantastic to work with.
The Reef House is nothing less than amazing. The design and quality of the home is 5 star in every way. Sally was really great to work with and was extremely attentive to our needs. She provided extremely valuable information about the home and Island culture and recommendations on where to get groceries and even who to use for transportation service. Every morning we were awakened by the sunrise and invited to gaze upon the ocean and majestic mountain views. Our stay was 6 days, and the home had every cooking utensil needed to prepare meals. Chris (property manager) was also awesome. He represented the owners very well. Truly the home, the Island and the people left an impression on us that will last a lifetime. Thank you!
We stay at Reef House for 6 nights. We had a wonderful experience from the beginning to the end. We travelled with 3 other couples. We all had our own rooms with en-suites and walk in closest. The main living area was perfect for making meals and gathering morning and night. The dining room was well used for meals and playing games. If we had the chance to visit the Grenadines again we would do exactly the same as we did this time and stay at Reef House!
6 best friends just returned from a two week stay at the Reef House . We loved it! The house is amazing. Beautiful views from every room. Pool is amazing and always the perfect temperature. Easy walk down to crescent beach. Walk up, not so easy BUT is was great exercise! Snorkelled there. A few of us saw large stingrays. Beautiful dinners (3 times ) at Sugar Reef. Fantastic food. All of us like to read and Sally has a well established book library there with tons of popular books. She also had games and cards and poker chips etc for those nights in. The attention to detail in this house is worth noting. We all loved the extra reading light on each sides of the bed. Each side table also has a small flashlight for “just in case”. Closet space in each of the rooms with plenty of hangers and shelf space. ( some of the other houses we have stayed at didn’t have any space at all). Cooked most meals at the Reef House. Well equipped kitchen. If you can pack your own favourite spices etc then do so. It helps a lot as certain foods and extra things like that can get pricey. We also brought coffee and “must have items”. We rented a MULE from Jordan (“Jords”) down at the waterfront marina area for a great price. We preferred this option over taxis. The MULE sat 6 of us and we were able to scoot around the entire island. Went snorkelling at Princess Margaret Beach. Beautiful beach and colourful fish. We all agree that BEQUIA is a ver special island. The local people are so very friendly. Quite possibly the friendliest place around! A special shout out to Cassandra, Obadiah , Chris and Sally. Each of you added your own special touch to our vacation and we hope to visit again soon!
Wow, what a trip! I'm sitting here waiting to head to the Bequai airport as I write this... The house is absolutely stunning and as exactly as described! The views can't be beat. The breeze coming in off the ocean keeps things cool. It's far enough from town to be quiet and secluded, but close enough to get to dinner in town in 10 minutes. Not to mention Sugar Reef for excellent meals, which is 1/4 mile walk! All of the people on island who care for Reef House and it's guests are absolutely wonderful. I'm already working on coming back again. What a gem!
Our stay at Reef House exceeded all expectations and is much more beautiful than pictures can share! The villa was open and spacious with excellent views of Industry and Spring Bay. The breeze kept us cool at all times especially at night in our well appointed and luxurious bedroom. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and the complimentary supper upon arrival was welcoming and thoughtful for travelers...loved having cold Hairouns ready for us! Sally the owner was very responsive to all questions and her advise and recommendations were spot on for our stay in Bequia. Chris, Cassandra & Obediah couldn't have been more lovely and were extremely welcoming showing us the house and following up when the internet went down - not that we needed to be connected to the outside world, but missed being able to play our tunes thru wifi to stereo!!! ;-) I would definately stay here again!
Bequia - a wonderful little island; so beautiful and made all the more special by staying in this beautiful home. While not in main town, the island is so small that we made it into Port Elizabeth in 7 - 10 minutes. The island is easy to drive. And taxis are everywhere! The owners have done a lovely job - the architecture, the decor, the gardens - all are just perfect. You will not be disappointed in this home. It is perfect for just two or a large group. It is designed in such a way that, while large, it is not overwhelming for two. In fact, it was just right. Yet there are multiple additional bedrooms to accommodate larger groups. The pool has an exceptional view and gets a full dose of morning sun that seemed to keep the water warm through sunset. Sally, the owner, was so helpful and responsive from beginning to end. Thank you Sally! And the staff - Caleb, Cassandra and Wayne for our stay - were amazingly sweet and helpful, including Caleb’s extra help with capturing a lost piece of luggage stranded in St Vincent! One night, Cassandra made us a delicious homemade dinner and we enjoyed a relaxing evening hanging out at “home” from cocktails through dessert. Very delicious and reasonably priced. Sally provides a lot of information about the island. We took her suggested walk from the house past the turtle sanctuary. Just beautiful and a good morning walk. We also hiked up to Ma Peggy. Fantastic. Great climb; beautiful views. The Friendship Rose trip to the Tobago Cays is not to be missed. You can rent kayaks from the Plantation House and paddle around the harbor or over to Princess Margaret beach. Paddle boards too (you can also get from Jack’s). Sugar Reef restaurant- a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive from Reef House - is beautiful and delicious. Jefferson and Dawson are great! We had lunch, dinner and take out. Jack’s has great food right on the beach. We had great local food and fun dancing with the staff and local band at The Fig Tree on a Sunday night. Thursday night at Frangipani with the steel drum band is fun too! There are a ton of places to eat and drink on the water or beach. One of the best is Bar One, a floating bar in the middle of the harbor. As much fun to get to as it is to hang out. Kayak from the plantation house or call them to pick you up from Jacks. As you can tell from this review Bequia and Reef House are very special for many reasons; we are lucky and thankful to have experienced both the island and the home.
