Your Own Private Resort at 9 Oaks!

I have stayed in a number of vacation homes and this is one of the few I will return to. The carriage house was exactly as described, immaculately clean with comfortable bedding. The outdoor spaces are a joy. Although easy walking distance to Canal Street it was quiet and peaceful. The host, Herb, was a true delight- close by if needed but never intrusive.

Although this winter's freeze took a toll on the beautiful gardens, the property is enchanting inside and out. Between the upstairs deck, pool, and dock, there's a spot for every mood and time of the day. The owner (Herb) is personable, making himself available to guests, while respecting their privacy -- quite a balancing act. Canal Street is about four blocks away, an easy walk, and Flagler Avenue shops and beach are 1.5 miles away, a manageable walk or bike ride for most. A special and very welcome plus for me is the owner leaves enough time between rentals that the guest is not overwhelmed by a list of things to do before checking out. Potential guests should be aware that the cottage layout, although perfect for a couple or single traveler, would be tight for four despite the foldout couch for more than a day or two. The layout also requires frequent movement between floors via a relatively narrow stairway. The outdoor stairs are more manageable. All rooms are lovingly decorated with art and crafts, so be sure your pets are quiet natured. I heartily recommend 9 Oaks to any travelers seeking a quiet oasis close to both the Canal District and beach. It's a clear 5-star accommodation!

We so very much enjoyed our stay with Herb and Susie. From the back yard conversations, to the gardens, access to many New Smyrna options and more. It was comfortable for us, like home. Thank you for your graciousness.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 9 Oaks recently. Our VRBO hosts, Herb and Susie, did a great job making us feel at home including a wonderful gift basket including toys for our puppies as well as a bottle of fine wine. The carriage house is well appointed, the gardens are spectacular, and they offer unlimited access to kayaks, bikes and their pool. Wonderful experience!

This property was great. The host are very kind and friendly. The location was quite and close to everything. It exceeded our expectations and more. The house was amazing inside and out. We would recommend this property to anyone. We had such a relaxing and amazing time we plan to go back next year. I assure, you will not be disappointed

What a tropical paradise place to stay. Beautiful accommodations surrounded by beauty indoors and out. The hosts were charming and our stay was like staying with old friends. Such a relaxing and beautiful place to stay.

Herb and Susie may just be the lovliest people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. From the moment we clicked book , Susie was the most hospitable host. She called the next day to let us know the check in process as well as all of the happenings in the area that week. The location is perfect and lands you right in the middle of canal street and flagler ave. The home is walking distance to everywhere. The carriage house is one of a kind, it is very clean, and the grounds are just beautiful! We very much enjoyed the private dock and fishing, but were also able to ride the bikes around town. Would 100% recommend staying here and we are hoping to visit again in the near future!

As beautiful and peaceful as the cottage is, the imprint on our memories are the hosts, Herb and Susie. They will have a place in our hearts forever. The most special people we have ever known. Now, to the cottage; enchanting. peaceful, spiritual, a work of art and a garden of love. Did I mention the house is convenient to EVERYTHING? Our stay was amazing!

To start the owners were amazing ! Beautiful place to stay with everything we needed . Beautiful private pool and the gardens were spectacular. We fished almost every evening off the dock. I would definitely stay here again ! And did I mention the owners are amazing and so kind . When we left she sent us off with hot out of the oven muffins and butter . Amazing overall !! Thank you !
