Stayed Jun 21, 2025Lovely spacious home in a great location within walking distance of beach, tennis/pickleball courts, restaurants and ice cream. I especially liked the roof deck where you can view the lighthouse.

Stayed Aug 17, 2024We had a great beach week. Arriving in four cars from different directions there was plenty of parking for all. The house worked well for us. With four bedrooms, two with twin beds and two with queens we had more than enough space for our family of six. The lower level, above the garage, has three bedrooms, two with twin beds, one with queen and a full, modern bath. There is also a family room with a deck. The master bedroom and bath are on the upper living level with a beautiful and spa-like adjoining bathroom. there is also a powder room. Be aware, though, you must provide your own sheets, towels, soap, etc.. The kitchen, also on the upper floor, has modern appliances and an excellent assortment of cookware and dinnerware. There are adjoining large living and dining areas, and we enjoyed the large deck with umbrella table and a couple of adirondack chairs. The beach walk is relatively easy with a wooden walkway partway and a wide dunes path used by the beach tram. The shops and restaurants of Barnegat Light are also easily walkable from this lovely home.

Stayed Jun 22, 2024Multiple generations of my family enjoyed our stay at Escape Hatch. Close to the beach, mini golf, the lighthouse and restaurants. Plenty of room for everyone and a great view from the roof deck. Hope to be back!

Stayed Aug 5, 2023The location was perfect for independent kids to roam and have fun on their own. The house was great but I'd recommend a few upgrades such as the couches weren't very comfortable along with the beds. There also wasn't a television in the upstairs room. The house was clean, check-in was very easy and it fit our needs perfectly. Note that there aren't beach chairs with the house so bring your own! Great stay and great location.

Stayed Aug 28, 2021The owner of the property had no idea i was comming to stay? I fullly piad for my retnal 4 months before? I only got the door code by sending several emails to VRBO the day before my trip, inspite of several request to learn the check in porcess in advance. until 3 hours before my arrival I had no idea how to access the keys! When we arrived the propety showed two large wet carpet areas on the first floor hallways to bedroom areas and the bathroom, and a bad smell like a cat had unirnated on the floor. The water leak issue continued for several days, and we were mopping up water by the buckets, with our beach towles, as we had nor other items to use to help mitigate the problem, while we waited to hear back from the owner. I was emailing the owner several times and having mutiple text back and forth for the frist two days we were there. We finnaly connected by phone directly and i strated sedning the owner picutres of her property leak, coming from the laundry room floor area and flooding thru her lower level walls onto her carpeted lower level. FInanly the second day she sent over a very nice man who could not find the problem, he came back the third day and finanly with my help figuered out waht the problem was caused by. We beggeed him to leave us whith a wet Vac and a large air handeler to help dry out the carpeting. The smell only got worse each day till about thursday when it started to finnaly dry out the carpeting on the lower level. The fan was so loud we could not hear each other talk. it also made the smell much worse as it kicked up all the oders into the rest of the house when we used it but we had no choice. The problem was caused by a clogged air conditioning drain that caused a water build up and the leak. The entier HVAC system in the laundry room was filled with about a half a foot of water in the base of this, and it was leaking out onto the laundrey room floor and thru the walls onto the carpeting bedroom hallways on the whole lower level. We could only use our beach towles to sop up excess wate until we got a wet vac which we used for over an hour dumping it several times to help dry out the carpeting even after the handi man left. It was a big dissapointment even thought the property itslef was a lovely home, the lack of proper maitance on the HVAC created a difficult problem and a terrible smell . The terrible smell only began to subside by Friday, our last day there before our departure on saturday morning.

Stayed Aug 22, 2020We stayed at Maryjane’s beach house with another family and had a great week! The location is perfect, beach at the end of the street and short walk to ice cream, mini golf and a few restaurants. Highly recommend this house for large groups. Plenty of space, we were four adults and four kids. Would love to stay again!

Stayed Jul 25, 2020THE HOUSE Exactly what we were looking for. Easy walk to the beach, roof deck with great views, couches made for flopping. The photos don’t do it justice. All bedrooms (and beds) are comfy. The upstairs master is huge with its own full bathroom and a delightful little powder table. I believe the description on VRBO mentions that the bed in this room is a full. It isn’t – it’s a queen. The kitchen/dining/living area is wide open, airy and just lovely. The three decks are excellent and I’m a deck guy so my standards are high. The lower deck is cozy and shaded and perfect for reading a good book or a trashy novel. The main deck on the upper level is huge, with a grill, round glass table, and plenty of room to boot. Up a sturdy spiral staircase is the roof deck made for stargazing. I think we saw about a dozen shooting stars up there. Magical. The outside shower is nice and spacious though it could use some ventilation, like a little space between the walls and the roof. But it serves its purpose nicely. Here are a few things that we forgot to bring but you should not: hand towels for bathrooms and kitchen, plus extra towels to use as bathroom rugs. There are a couple of frying pans and a nice big lobstah pot, but if you plan to do any serious cooking or baking you might want to bring your own sauce pot or baking pan/dish. The owner hires a cleaning crew to do an extra thorough, deep & disinfecting cleanse between tenants, which was much appreciated and helped put our minds at ease. THE LOCATION This was my first time staying in Barnegat Light (I had been a Beach Haven loyalist until this year) and now I want to move there. Trees. Friendly folks. Just the right amount of small, local businesses. Daily bike rides along the bayside were just what the doctor ordered. For one magical week, I was in the best shape of my life. The ninth street lifeguard stand is the last on the island. Keep walking north and the beach becomes more and more secluded, more and more relaxing. After a few blocks you’ll be at the inlet jetty, with giant jigsaw puzzle rocks that are perfect for clambering, scampering and exploring. THE HOST She’s welcoming, kind, gracious, and communicative. A delight to work with. We hope to stay at this practically perfect house again.

Stayed Sep 27, 2019Maryjane was absolutely a pleasure to work with during the entire process. She was responsive, polite, and provided accurate details regarding the property. The house itself is beyond perfect and exceptionally clean. The house has awesome space and multiple outdoor decks to enjoy with views of the local beach! We rented the house as guests of a Wedding in LBI and could not be happier that we chose Maryjane's property! The house is perfect for families and friends looking to relax on wonderful LBI. Thank you again Maryjane!
