Whimsy on the Wood, Pet friendly, walking distance to VA Creeper and the A.T.

This place is amazing. It had plenty of room, the dogs loved it outdoors. We had a great time in this house. I look forward to our next stay here. I had family all around me. Close to downtown, Creeper Trail, Abington and more. Truly the best getaway. The host Fancy is easy to get in touch with and she goes above and beyond helping with any questions.

Loved Whimsy! Host was very responsive and the location is convenient and yet feels like it’s very private and secluded. Would definitely recommend!!

The house with the fenced yard was excellent for our needs with 2 dogs and 5 people. Only issue was there wasn't much info provided about things like where to put the trash, setting up the tv, or any checkout instructions. But the property was really nice.

What a cute spot in damascus to stay! We enjoyed our stay and loved the location although be known it is at the top of the hill, but we liked the exercise. Loved that the grocery store was near by. We had a great time!

Well... it's just the truth in 2025. While this cottage is beautiful, and a peaceful respite in a town that has recently experienced the ravages of Hurricane Helene... be forewarned... you will find yourself surrounded by the MAGA faithful at this location. Expect the oversized flags... pit bulls... run down properties... and plenty of divisive pronouncements from the bumpers of pickup trucks. With that said... I never felt threatened by it... and openly walked through all of it, into town and to the grocery with no problems. If you are someone who feels threatened by this sort of political divisiveness or simply finds it difficult to tolerate, you may want to look elsewhere. If you are not this type of person... then you will be in for a real treat, because the cottage itself is well appointed and delightful!Would I book this cottage again? Yes I would.

Our stay at this properly was prompted by a funeral. The accommodation was comfortable and relaxed given the stress of the situation. Highly recommended for the no frills, real cottager

Our trip was scheduled when the floods came through Damascus. The host was gracious enough to let us change the dates of our stay! We have stayed at this home before and enjoyed it very much!

Pictures do not do justice to the house and fence in yard. Comfortable, cozy, great location. I will be back.

The owner was suppose to refund our deposit for stay, due to death on family. Stay was never cancelled and lost all contact with owner. Still no refund!!!

Our stay at Whimsey on the Wood was fantastic! Plenty of room, very peaceful, and great proximity to outdoor adventures! We would definitely stay here again!

We were there to ride the Virginia Creeper. The trail is a few blocks away.

Wonderful house to stay in with a great yard for the dog. Private and quiet.

We had a nice time staying here for the creeper bike trail. The property was clean (outside could use a bit of TLC), but was good for our family. There was no hot tub which was in the description so we were disappointed by that but all else was fine.

Not our first stay here and hopefully not our last! Biked, hiked and relaxed…we love this little town.
