Stayed Feb 12, 2026This house has it all - seclusion, views of the whale tail, pool, well-appointed kitchen, and more. We’ve stayed in a lot of rental properties and this one had so many thoughtful touches. Jeison, the property manager, was amazing. He stayed up to greet us at nearly midnight after several travel delays. The directions to the house were clear, though you MUST have 4WD. There are a lot of stairs, so be mindful if you have mobility issues. The bedrooms do not have AC, but we were plenty comfortable with open air and fans. Would definitely stay here again!

Stayed Jan 9, 2026We loved this trip. First I will start with the owner. Del was incredibly detailed and responsive. He happened to be in the area from the States and was took us for a personally guided tour of the region. Jeison the property manager was incredible. He lives close by on the property, but not so close you would even know he was around expect when we had a question or something came up. The property is amazing with an incredible view. My recommendation for making it better is the furnishings in the living room and on the patio could be upgraded to be more comfortable while enjoying the surroundings. During the day, you are surrounded by Toucan's, that talk all day long, and in the evening you are sung to my the cacophony of insect sounds was not unpleasant. The evening view from the deck is the lights of Uvita. The pool is awesome. Our first morning we were awoken by howler monkey's making themself known. They seemed to back off as time went on, likely due to our little dog. The drive requires a four wheel drive, but Del was able to rent us a solid modern vehicle. My recommendation to Del is that the downstairs furnishings on the deck and in the living space could use an uplift to be more comfortable to hang out.I would recommend not taking a rushed trip. We stayed for almost five weeks, which seemed long by the end, but I wouldn't recommend less than two weeks to really get a chance to experience Pura Vida.

Stayed Jun 6, 2025Picture this: waking up in a cozy house perched high on a mountain in Costa Rica, where the air is crisp and the views are endless. You spend your days exploring hidden waterfalls, and sipping coffee grown from the locals. Evenings are all about watching the sunset paint the sky over the ocean and the twinkling lights of the town below. It's a serene escape that combines nature, adventure, and breathtaking scenery. Del and Adrian were amazing hosts. If you are planning a stay in Costa Rica I hope you book this amazing home. Waking up to the fresh breeze, overlooking the town below and the whales tail is a memory you will never forget.

Stayed Apr 3, 2025Thank you Del and Adrian for an amazing visit! This is our fifth time in Costa Rica, and fourth time in the Uvita/Dominical area! The house was clean, spacious and well equipped for cooking. The view was exceptional, the grounds well kept, and the pool was the perfect temp!! Definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing time in Costa Rica!FYI, absolutely nothing against this gorgeous property…but there is no AC, only naturally accruing cooler temperatures at night. There are however multiple ceiling fans inside and out, as well as standing fans in the bedrooms!

Stayed Mar 15, 2025The property is beautiful and the view is incredible! The house is lovely and the pool is perfect for cooling off or enjoying watching the whale tail dissapear and reappear with the tide. The road to get there is not for the faint of heart but it is totally worth it! Be sure to enjoy the trails for your own private jungle tour.

Stayed Feb 24, 2025Adrian, the caretaker was very responsive to a few issues we had - beautiful spot -great pool. People need to be aware there is NO air conditioning - we thought there was. It could be installed in the bedrooms. Definitely need a 4 wheel drive to access this property.

Stayed Aug 13, 2024This house is located way up on the mountain. It has a beautiful view of the Whales tail. From the bedrooms and pool deck. Inside the house is very spacious. Plenty of room for two families. It was just me and my wife. Adri the caretaker is great and will help you out if you need anything. The pool nice but was a bit cold when we were there .You will need a all wheel or 4 wheel deive vehicle to get upthe mountain

Stayed Jul 20, 2024My wife and I had an excellent time. There are a few things that initially surprised me, but it was no fault of the homeowner. I don’t think there is a better view of the Whale’s Tail in all of Uvita. The house was huge! Definitely larger than 2 people needed, but it was nice having so much space. Adrian was awesome, and set up some tours for us very quickly (which were also awesome) Some of the things that surprised me a bit: 1. We knew there was no AC going into this, but didn’t take into account just how damp everything is all the time. You will have literal clouds moving through the house. We got used to this after a few nights. 2. Toilet paper goes in bins, not toilets, then goes out with the trash. Makes sense as to why, but this was initially pretty gross/shocking. Got used to it after a while, and it isn’t not specific to this house 3. Ants. They WILL be inside, outside, everywhere. We noticed they tend to invade a specific place for a day, and the next day they will be gone. Mostly tiny ants inside, and leaf cutters outside. Do not leave food or drink out anywhere. 4. We arrived at night, in the rain. The drive up the mountain was steep for sure, but never felt unsafe. The sandy/rocky soil offers good traction in 4x4. 5. Driving in general felt like controlled chaos - laws are just suggestions. Wasn’t bad after we were able to flow. All of those are just to inform. Overall, we had an amazing time!

Stayed Aug 3, 2024Del’s place is beautiful and the view is incredible. You can see the whale’s tail from almost every window in the house. The home was very clean and large enough to keep our family of five comfortable. Adrian, the caretaker, lives close to the property and was available to help when we needed it. Lots of reviews say that you need 4X4. You really must have a TRUE 4X4 vehicle. We were told that our rental was 4X4 when in reality it was AWD. We barely made it up the mountain to the property in the rain. The roads are very steep and a lot less scary with a 4X4. The view is worth the adventure but don’t take this recommendation lightly like we did. Spend the extra money and get the 4X4. Thank you, Del, for helping us along the way. We hope to be back sometime in the future!

Stayed Jun 30, 2024I can’t say enough about this place! It’s so incredibly beautiful! The house is equipped with everything you need! I stayed here with my 25 yr old son, and he was never bored, which says a lot! The grounds are stunning! Stop at the waterfall on your way up the mountain, it’s beautiful. We booked a couple of tours through Del and they did not disappoint!! We did a snorkeling trip to Cano Island and it was awesome! We saw sea turtles, sting Rey’s and lots of beautiful fish! I did a horseback riding tour and it was incredible! We came during the rainy (slow) season, so I got very lucky and was the only person on the tour, so Edgar gave me a 2 for one! Not only did I get to go horseback riding through the jungle, but I also got to ride on the beach! He even let me run her! One more thing to check off my bucket list! We had Del book round trip transfers to and from San Jose, and he rented us his 4 wheel drive suv for the week. Driving up and down the mountain is an adventure! We had a great time and will definitely come back! Pura Vida!!!!
