Whale inn was small and cozy. Just right for a small group. Really enjoyed the small screened in porch with picnic table, was perfect for watching the sun rise above the dune while drinking my morning coffee. The shower was very nice and having washer and dryer upstairs was great

Air conditioner was frozen. They brought two window units which did not cool the house. Never came back or called. Roaches in the master bedroom and the kitchen. Broken door shelf in refrigerator kept falling out. Would not stay in this house again.

It’s a great location with just steps to public beach access and it was a perfect size for one family to rent. It was overall pretty clean but definitely needs some updating but was a good house for the weekly rate.

House was not what I expected. Mold growing in one of the bathrooms, house had a mildew smell had to buy baking soda and set around to help with odor, carpets had stains, screened in porch doesn’t keep anything out since most of the screens were flapping in the wind, railings on the stairs up to the crows nest were not attached, bench on main level porch had supports pulling out, felt like I need a tetanus shot to open fridge as it had rust all on the outside, could use more seating inside and out, one sofa in living room for a house that’s sleeps 6, other options were hard stools, outside was a picnic table or the built in benches, on check out it asks you to sweep floor but yet there was no broom anywhere in the house, others might but I don’t travel with a broom, house shook every time the wind blew which was almost always, one step going into house is not safe, fell coming out the house and I was done cut my trip a day early…. I could go on and I may sound like I’m nitpicking but for what it cost to stay here for the week I have a right to. I travel 6 hours to the outer banks every year and stay in a different house each year. This is the first year I have been disappointed with the house. I love the outer banks but the house you stay in is a big part of your trip. I do not recommend this house to anyone especially if you have small children. It needs a lot love and attention.

Starting with the cons of the trip - The refrigerator did not make anything cold, we put items that were in the cooler in the fridge upon arrival and after a few hours, these items were warm. We had to make a call to Vacasa and have a repairman come out to fix it(the repair guys were very nice, and they did bring us ice to help keep our items cold in the cooler for the time being). Also loose boards on railing going up to the top deck are exposing sharp nails. Outdoor shower was grown up with vines. Most of the screens were tore out on the doors and windows. Also, the second bathroom must have been remodeled since photos were taken as pictures show 2 full bath tubs and there is now 1 tub and 1 stand up shower stall. There was also an ant problem in the rear bedroom. Stains all over walls in the “master” bedroom. Designated parking spots are not labeled, we were getting parked in by the neighbors. The house has the bare minimum, no added specialties. Pros- close to beach access, washer and dryer worked well and were fairly new appliances

We loved the bedroom with mint green furniture . It was so cute with the beach theme. Plus we caught a 7 foot shark from the Avon Pier which is close-by. Good location too

Great house with great amenities, loved the outdoor spaces and the closeness of the beach. Very close to restaurants, bars, and duck’s donuts which is super convenient. I would definitely recommend.

It was nice to be so close to the beach. It is truly a wonderful beach. The house is very nice inside. It appears to have been recently renovated.

Arrived Saturday....One bedroom overhead light was burned out.....had to buy light bulbs, there was only one fork in the drawer of flatware, and TV didn't work. Woke Sunday morning to cold showers. We turned the hot water heater on and left for the beach. Came home to cold showers. Had to take cold showers Monday morning and called Vacasa....indicated that we thought there was no gas to fuel hot water system. Sure enough, Vacasa folks came and there was no gas. They filled gas and we had hot water. Brought an entire set of flatware and fixed the TV. Vacasa took care of the issues, but we shouldn't have had them in the first place.
